“Red wine it is then!” After the first toast Frandal says to Gohdrin “Well, I screw it half of the day. One could think that an elf should know how to move a log to make a bridge but... you know... “ he mimicks his own clumsy movements when he was trying to put the wooden plank in the right position, making fun of himself.
“Not to worry! We all want to win, but it’s just a friendly competition to honor the Windhovers. “
He turns to the rest of the inn and raising his wine he says “To the Windhovers!”
Xellos raises his glass and silently toasts along with Frandal. He then says, "Speaking of wine, I bought the last bottle at Sham's Peg last night."
He takes the dusty bottle out of his pack, "It looks old, but it may be a vintage perhaps? Wine wasn't his specialty so I'm not very sure...could be horrible for all I know. Anyway, I was going to offer you a glass, but saw you left. Care to try now? How about you Gohdrin?"
Xellos uncorks it and smells it to make sure it doesn't smell spoiled or like vinegar then pours it into their glasses if it smells ok. Xellos also examines the label to see if it has a name or anything else on it such as its type of wine, the winery, etc.

“But of course! So kind of you!” Frandal smiles to Xellos and seems to look at his eagle for a second. Then back to Xellos smiling and he asks the barmaid for clean glasses.
Frandal's impromptu toast to the Windhovers elicits a few "To the Windhovers!" from some nearby patrons who raise their mugs and then take a drink.
"Sure..." replies Gohdrin. "I'll take a glass of the mystery wine." The label on the bottle has faded considerably with the passage of time, but by turning the bottle to allow the light to hit it just right, you can see some words that were hand-scrawled in a Dwarvish script. You know that a few different races--dwarves, orcs, giants, and gnomes--use the Dwarvish script, however. What the words mean, you do not know.
Regarding the smell of what is within the bottle, Xellos' reaction to the aroma is clearly noticeable to Frandal. The look on Xellos' face is, at first, one of surprise. His expression then quickly turns to deep sadness. Gohdrin happens to be looking a different direction; so she doesn't notice any of this.
Xellos, you experience the following:
There's nothing unpleasant about the aroma (and you're sure the liquid is drinkable), but it doesn't smell like any wine you've ever tasted. Its smell is far too sweet. The smell of the liquid, however, is not what surprises you most. It is the emotional effect that washes over you that you find most baffling. You are nearly brought to tears by a deep, aching, inward sensation of what you can best describe as homesickness.
The barmaid then sets three clean glasses before all of you.
Jasper becomes slightly philosophical as Alora leaves The Donnybrook. "There are times in life when our paths lead us away from our friends, Arissa and Ozum. I wish her all the best." He takes a drink of his wine and looks toward the inn's entrance in hopes that he will see his guest walking through the door. She does not. You can tell he's becoming impatient.
"Yes indeed, Jasper. Those times are sad, but joy always returns." She notices as he becomes more anxious. "Well, if this Toriella does not show up, there are other beautiful young maidens in this town" Arissa says, as she winks at Jasper.

"I'll have the same" Ozum chimes in. "If you happen to make it out of the Donnybrook tonight you should join us, Jasper. Maybe you could introduce us to some of your performer friends and talk about which show may be best tomorrow."
He turns back toward his half-elf companion. "Arissa, I don't know a lot about this town or the Windhovers really. People seem very upset at their absence though. I've never been one to brush off a mystery, would you like to 'get to the bottom of this' after the festivities are over?"
"Very well then," she replies. "Bread, butter, and rabbit stew coming your way. Give me a few minutes." The barmaid then hurries off to her next responsibility.
Jasper thinks about your offer for a moment. "Maybe I shall, Ozum. Thank you!" He then overhears the remarks about the absent Windhovers, and he begins to nod his head vigorously. "It's unexpected. I can tell you that. I've been performing at the festival for over ten years, and I've never seen this before. People are worried. More so because their absence isn't being explained by Sariel. She's been silent thus far. Silence brings no comfort, only suspense."
Xellos puts the bottle down while holding on to the neck of it and has the sad look on his face. "Strange, it smells very sweet but... I feel incredibly homesick. Do either of you feel the same way?"
I don't know if Xellos is able, but if so can he take a guess why this sudden homesickness is taking hold. Or if it is even safe to drink.

Regarding the safety of drinking the wine, you're comfortable with the idea of drinking it yourself. You're not quite as comfortable, however, at the thought of having others drink it it, simply because you don't know how it might affect them. What does all of this mean? You don't really know. You are tempted to drink the liquid, but your temptation isn't really rooted in how the wine will taste but, rather, in where the wine might take you: to someplace safe and devoid of evil.
Spoiler for Necmo.
Gohdrin looks at you quizzically, almost perplexed. "Do I feel the same way?" she asks. "Maybe if I could taste it I might be able to answer your question, Xellos. Are you feeling well?"
You pour a small amount into the glass. The crimson liquid flows as if it were syrup. Not surprisingly, it is extremely sweet to the taste. You can tell there's some magic at work because the moment you finish swallowing the syrupy stuff you feel as if you have just undergone the effects of a Dimension Door spell; but oddly enough you're sitting in the same location, surrounded by the same people, the same sounds, and the same smells. So, in short, you feel like you've just been teleported but no teleportation has actually occurred.
Gohdrin Ray keeps a close eye on you as you give the wine a taste, almost as if she's expecting you to turn into some sort of reptile. "Well...what's the verdict, Xellos?" she asks after you've taken a sip.
“Hmm perhaps that wine is more that meets the eye... “
You're convinced of that when you see just how slowly the "wine" flows out of the bottle when Xellos pours some of it into a glass. It doesn't look like wine at all. It looks far more like a bright red syrup. Other than that, you're not able to pick up any clues about what this bottle of wine might truly be.
She's been silent thus far. Silence brings no comfort, only suspense."
Jasper takes another sip of wine, and says, "I don't know if you're serious about doing any investigating, but I can't help but wonder what old Kempis the Ironfisted is thinking about all of this. He's a former Windhover...runs a tavern these days, right here in Talisten. The place is called The Dwarven Stout. I'd love to know what Kempis thinks."
Xellos says, "I don't think this is normal wine. Or if it's even wine, really. It's enchanted somehow and I felt like I phased out of reality here without even leaving. I... don't think this is safe to drink. Might be a long shot, but do either of you know any idea of what it might be?
If it's allowed, or even possible on a liquid, Xellos would like to cast Identify on it. If not, disregard.
Xellos will show it to the barmaid, "Do you have any knowledge of this, uh, wine? Oh, and I'll just have an ale with two for my two friends here as well, please. Maybe a meal for us too?"
“Perhaps is the most wise decision yes. But if you don’t mind I would rather stick to wine. Better not to mix breweries when tomorrow we have a hard day! And would be so kind to serve us the dinner too?” He asks with the tone of someone kind but used to be obeyed.
“Tell us” He says when she brings the food “has Thoradin showed up? He didn’t came yesterday and he didn’t show up at the opening ceremony. I understand that this is weird.”
Xellos says, "Hmm we do have three wine glasses in front of us...3 wines then. I suppose you're right, don't want to overdo things when there's still more tournament tomorrow."
Frandal
While we wait for drinks and a meal (and after the barmaid answers questions about the wine and Thoradin) Xellos asks, "So what brings you to this town?"

BTW how come that Arcana doesn’t become a eligible skill for the Eldritch Knight? ;) Not complaining, just curious.
