“I am sorry to hear that Xellos...”says Frandal when he spoke about not be well received. He then turns towards the newcomers “ Good night and festival to you! We were about to retire but now that we’ve encountered more of the contestans. Maybe we can talk together for a lastwine?”
"I'm sorry to be so guarded. It seems the festival may have brought out the worst in some people, and while that seems to be more of the exception than the rule, you can never be to careful." Ozum offers up his little gnome hand and then points back to the bard behind him. "I think we were not formally introduced. My name is Ozum and this is Arissa. Perhaps we can have that drink after the festivities tomorrow since it is getting so late and all this business with the missing Windhovers has me suspicious."
“Frandal Silvereyes “ replies the elf shaking Ozum’s hand “ and these are Xellos and Celebquesse. Nice to meet you two “ he says giving his hand to Arissa. “We are concerned too about the missing Windhovers. But we couldn’t find anything about it. Perhaps tomorrow everything is solved. You are right! We had a long day ahead of us. I wish you all a good night and the best of lucks tomorrow. Xellos... “ he nods to him as goodbye and wave his hand to Ozum and Arissa and returns back to the Signing Fire to rest for the next day.
*you are looking for troubles even at a festivity...*
All of you make the walk from south Talisten to your respective lodging places--a journey less than ten minutes for all of you. By the time you reach your inns, a light rain has begun to fall, and you are happy to enter the warmth of the indoors. Your second day in Talisten was a long one and has given you a few things to think about as you lie in bed and begin to drift off to sleep...
DAY 3
Kurt, Arissa, Ozum, Xellos, and Frandal:
All of you wake the next morning and make ready for your third day in Talisten. This day is officially called Harvest Day in the realm of Syndaris, and it is the second full day of the Festival. It was on this day, 207 years ago, when the original four Windhovers--Talisten, Azalor, Findric, and Kubrithani--officially took the Windhover vows upon themselves after defeating the cambion Rahzzur the previous night. One of the highlights of this particular day of the Festival is the play that will be performed on the main stage in Festival Square on the south side of the river. This musical play, put on by a troupe of the finest actors and performers, is a robust re-enactment of that great Windhover victory over Rahzzur and his minions, and after the midday meal hundreds of people will gather in Festival Square to take part in reliving and celebrating the victory of the original four heroes.
The first order of business for all of you, however, is to compete in the last three contests in the Tournament of Talisten. So, after breakfast you make your way to Tournament Square, and, as you expected, the weather remains cold. Fortunately, however, the light rain that began last night has dissipated. The streets of Talisten glisten and sparkle as the morning sun strikes the wet ground, but you are happy to know you will not have to stand and compete while rain is falling upon you.
As you approach the next contest area, you see the familiar faces of those against whom you have been competing. Gohdrin Ray greets Frandal and Xellos. Morindak approaches Ozum and Kurt and offers a good luck handshake. Arissa, one of the guards from last night's incident under the bridge notices you and offers his thanks for the role you played in preventing any further harm to Vani. Garrett Goodbarrel, always gregarious and smiling, greets Kurt, Ozum, and Arissa but is disappointed to learn that Alora has chosen to depart Syndaris.
All of the contestants learn that the first competition will take place inside the main tent at the center of Tournament Square. It's early, it's cold, and this event doesn't have much draw for spectators; so it makes sense to complete this particular competition first: Magician's Gambit.
Xellos makes his way back to Sham's Peg, has a meager dinner with a stiff drink, and plops on his bed with a heavy sigh then falls asleep nearly instantly.

Each contestant will play an intricate game of solitaire with a bag of painted stones. Stones are drawn three at a time and placed on a hexagonal playing surface until the contestant has eliminated the possibility of legally playing any further stones.
Points are awarded according to the number of stones a contestant places on the board.
Here’s how your character’s abilities, skills, and proficiencies—along with your dice rolls—will be used to generate a score for your character in the Magician's Gambit contest:
Begin with your character's base number by adding your raw INT and WIS ability scores together (no modifiers).
Roll 1d20 to make an Investigation check (add any applicable modifiers)
Roll 1d20 to make a Perception check (add any applicable modifiers)
The formula looks like this:
(INT + WIS) + (Investigation check) + (Perception check) = number of stones placed
Edit: had to edit it a couple of times, to get the rolls can’t took it on a single line ( how do you do that? ) I got a 15 and a 19 in the first rolls...but will keep any score it ends saying

ooc I thought when post is edited the rolls stay the same. but I scored a natural 20 on investigaion then it changed to 3 not sure what is going on. I usually post my rolls then edit them to add total and RP to the result
All of you step outside the large tent that housed the multiple tables that had been set up for the Magician's Gambit competition. You move en masse to an area that has now been cordoned off for the stone-throwing competition. In the east, an ominous-looking bank of clouds looms large and grey, clearly threatening to bring more rain to the island. One of the guards who serves as a tournament official calls out, "Ladies and gentlemen, I suggest we do what we can to make quick work of these last two events. Throw your stones, catch your pig, grab your prizes, and run for your tavern before the storm arrives!" he says with a big grin. You and the other competitors then listen to the instructions for this next event.
STONE THROWING
Each contestant will throw three stones of differing size and weight
The distance that each stone travels will be measured; then all three distances will be added together to give the contestant a final score.
Here’s how your character’s abilities, skills, and proficiencies—along with your dice rolls—will be used to generate a score for your character in the stone-throwing contest:
For every throw, you will start with a base number (no modifiers) and you will then make an Athletics check
The distance for each throw is then determined like this:
Small stone distance = (STR x 3) + Athletics check
Medium stone distance = (STR x 2) + Athletics check
Large stone distance = STR + Athletics check
Then add up the distance of all three throws for a final total
NOTE: If you want you can lump all of the math together in one "equation"
Arissa throws the stones a total distance of 103 feet.

The formula looks like this:
(INT + WIS) + (Investigation check) + (Perception check) = number of stones placed
Magician’s Gambit scores for NPCs
Garret Goodbarrel (11 + 11) + (19) + (20) = 32 stones placed
Indira (12 + 12) + (10) + (12) = 54 stones placed
Gohdrin Ray (10 + 13) + (13) + (12) = 57 stones placed
Jerrick (7 + 10) + (0) + (7) = 49 stones placed
Morindak (8 + 10) + (18) + (15) = 21 stones placed
Renzor Smythe (11 + 13) + (7) + (3) = 38 stones placed
Frandal greets the others and wish them luck.
He then puts himself in front of the colored stones and start playing.

Nothing of note happens during the morning. So, you can plan on heading straight to the tournament grounds for the next event.
Ozum rubs his hands together, studying the game briefly. Mumbling to himself he says, "I just might have a chance at this one."

Spoiler for Frandal Silvereyes:
The deck contains the following 28 cards:
All of you step outside the large tent that housed the multiple tables that had been set up for the Magician's Gambit competition. EDIT: Each Athletics check should have had +4
Total distance for Jerrick: 144 feet
Arissa throws the stones a total distance of 103 feet.
