Xellos' compass needle points steadily in one direction, giving all of you the impression that you are indeed headed in the correct direction.
You continue to wind your way through the strange rock formations for a few more hours, and then, suddenly, the landscape in front of you changes dramatically. The jagged rocks give way to a massive canyon that cuts across your path. The canyon stretches as far as you can see to your left and to your right, and most alarming is the fact that you cannot see how deep it is. It almost seems as if the blackness of space lies before you; you can barely see the opposite side of the chasm.
As detected by Ozum, however, dozens of narrow stone parapets stretch across the blackness in front of you. Many of these "bridges" cross each other; so the overall appearance is that of a bizarre stone spider web that reaches across this dark canyon. Any path you might choose is no wider than two or three feet; so, any effort to cross this canyon will require you to walk in a single-file line.
"Well, Xellos, they seem solid...solid indeed," Thoradin replies. "They don't seem, however, very efficient. See how they rise, fall, twist, and turn? Not one of these bridges appears to travel straight from this side to the other. Hard to tell where each one leads."
From where the group stands, you can see a dozen different narrow rock pathways on your side of the chasm. As they extend outward, across the darkness, you cannot be sure where each one leads. You have the impression that you will have to make a guess at which bridge, or bridges, to use.
As mentioned previously, each bridge is wide enough for just one person. If you choose to begin crossing the chasm, please select which "bridge" you will use, by selecting a number 1 through 12. The distance from bridge 1 (far to your left) and bridge 12 (far to your right) is approximately 200 feet.

OOC: Can we use Celebquesse to check the bridges? In case yes: 13 perception. Or investigation 16
Frandal will wait a few seconds as the eagle does her reconnaissance and follow her instructions. If she cannot discern wich one is the better to cross, the elf start to cross the number 6.
Ozum:You move forward carefully, but after two or three minutes you realize that you've selected a dead end. This particular bridge will be of no use in reaching the other side.
Frandal: Celebquesse takes flight, heading high over the chasm that lies before you; she returns a few minutes later and reports that none of the bridges actually spans the entire distance of the chasm. To successfully reach the other side may require jumping, flying, rope, or magic.
(The bridges, on average, are separated by a distance of 10 to 15 feet. They do not travel in straight lines, however; nor are they parallel. So, in some places the distance is greater, in others less)
Coming back Ozum smacks his little gnomish hand against his forehead. "You're absolutely right Xellos, I think everyone can get across this way." Ozum retrieves the rope of climbing from his pack and orders it to knot itself up for easy climbing. He holds onto the top as it begins to rise. "Who wants to climb on?" "We can use this as a safety precaution and maybe to switch between bridges if we come across a dead end."

“I can try to lead the way..”
(Can Acrobatics can be used to jump from one bridge to another? If so and in order to speed up things, Frandal, using Celebquesse guidance to choose the easiest path between them
(I'm assuming Frandal conveyed his findings with this post)
Xellos says as he comes closer to the others, "I unfortunately do not know Feather Fall so we really need to be careful here. Ozum, I don't recall, but can you simply turn into a bird and fly over? Or even turned into a spider and scurrying over... then letting down the rope for us?"
OOC: Posted in PM thread, but can Ozum use spider silk while in Spider form to aid us?

OOC: I mean could Ozum spray sticky goo on his rope to possibly make us hold on better? Sorry should have made that clearer ;) Although the thought of using his spider form as a beast of burden does sound amusing
Xellos is in favor of anything that can allow us to bypass or aid in their crossing says, "If any one of us can bypass the rope then that would be ideal."
Arissa thinks for a moment. "I could grant one of us the power to fly for a short while. I could also create a dimension door, although this would consume much of my magical abilities if I were to use it to transport more than one other person."

Using the information provided by Celebquesse, you opt to make use of one of the narrow stone parapets approximately 80' to your right. This bridge does not cross the entire chasm, but its end is only 40' from another bridge that the party can use. The distance is too great for Frandal to jump, but via Ozum's Rope of Climbing the party can cross the gap. The rope can be safely secured on both sides; so the whole affair seems quite safe.
Sariel speaks up. "For anyone who'd rather not cross the rope, I can cast jump."
Each member of the party has options:
Cross the gap via Ozum's magical rope (which seems safe)
Cross the gap via the use of Arissa's fly spell (or her dimension door spell)
Arissa attempts to use the rope, preferably without falling to her doom.
