What do you do next?

Zhernon will look for the shield as quickly as possible and then for a way to get it out of the inn. Like out the window maybe.

The shield is still there. The window does open and it overlooks the alley below you. Its 15 ft from the window to the ground.

Zhernon will make sure no one is looking and drop the shield out and quickly close the window before attempting to exit the inn and walk around to pick up the shield. 

The shield falls with a loud clang and Zhernon makes his way down and over hears the guard say "What was that noise?"

Zhernon will wander out of the inn and mill about to keep an eye on the shield but won't go at it until the guards leave it alone or take it. If they see a chance to nick it while no one is looking he will pick it up and dash back, otherwise he will just watch where it goes.

Guard 1 already outside goes to investigate the noise. He picks up the shield and leans it against the front wall where he can keep an eye on it.

Zhernon ignores the shield and finds a spot a ways away where they can keep an eye on it but not be obvious about it, and waits.

Tilsu keeps her hands up, "I suggest you help your friend. We didn't travel together for long but she managed to escape from three grown men, a single one shouldn't prove too much of a challenge." She makes the doors upstairs slam shut.

"That's a good idea" says guard 2 as he heads upstairs.

There is still guard 1 out front

What do you do next?

Tilsu will come out the front door, "Sir, I suggest you head upstairs. The other guard heard something up there and headed up there alone."

"Alright" says guard 1 and he also walks in and upstairs.

What do you do next?

She causes more noise to happen outside, sounding to be above the inn. She'll give a shout, "She's on the roof!" Then Tilsu will walk off to where Zhernon headed to.

(Did that clear out the guard who was watching the shield?)

(Yes all the guards are inside you can grab the shield and leave)

Zhernon rushes over to grab the shield, waving at Tilsu and then making a run back toward the houseboat (I presume).

We'll head to the market to meet up with Roland.
