For brief moment Roland sees Twigs Face on a wanted poster. When a guard lifts it up at the check point.

"Lovely," muttered Roland to himself as he saw the crowd lining up, and then the wanted poster with a reasonably-accurate drawing of Twig. He grimaced before deciding to test something... in a low whisper, he cast a spell to color the entirety of the skin on his left hand to a dark red, reminiscent of that of a fire genasi.

(( OOC: Never actually tried to use the "make a color... appear on an object or surface" aspect of this on a creature's skin, and I wasn't sure if it was allowed. Does it work? ))

(It does not work that way, but there is nothing stopping you from dipping back into town and grabbing some paint.)

Twig, noticing Roland's muttering, smiles and says, "Don't worry about it. I got this covered." She pulls out her makeshift disguise kit and opens it up. Inside is an old bottle with some brown ointment inside. She plops some on her hands then rubs it on her face. This makes her skin appear a lot darker, and effectively covers her freckles. (Hopefully)

Zhernon will get in line with the others, still looking like the old man.

Twig looks at Zhernon with a confused expression. "Why do you look like that?"

Roland raised an eyebrow at Twig's disguise, then shook his head and chuckled as he followed Zhernon into line. "Well, that takes care of most of it, eh? C'mon, 'grandpa'; we're almost out of here!"

Twig grins at Roland then shouts at Zhernon, "Yeah grandpa hurry up!"

Zhernon played it up with some raspy muttering and slowly walked over to join them before giving a light, quiet laugh.

Tilsu remained neutral, joining behind Zhernon. 

Everyone waits in line and after and hour of waiting, the party is up for inspection. The guards ask each of you for a name and where are you going

Twig and Zhernon disguises are amazing.

How do you answer?

Roland coughed and lowered his voice a bit before answering, "Name's Tanner, an' tis here's Pa. We's just goin' out in the woods for an overnight."

"The young one,"--he jerked a thumb toward Twig--"wants to be an adventurer eventually, and Pa's wantin' to give some lessons to her on how to handle the outdoors." He widened his eyes and made a gesture with his hand toward his head behind "Pa's" back, to indicate that yes, the idea of the old man teaching adventuring lessons was a bit crazy, and that the rest of the group knew it.

"We're not goin' far, and will be back tomorrow." The farmboy then dropped his volume and leaned in, speaking more quietly, but still enough for Zhernon to hear. "Pa loves to tell stories about his time adventuring. Might not want to give him a chance to bring 'em up." He then stood back and smiled , casting a warm, caring glance toward "Pa."

The guard does not look quite convinced

"Where does your family live?" asks the guard

Zhernon waves off Roland with a dry chuckle. "Nevermind him, I'm getting too old to go out much these days. We are making one last trip together before I settle down for good."
