How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Lurking around in the darkness searching for an entrance that might or might not be somewhere did not look all that attractive. Finna is for breaking in.

The door resounds and echoes through the tunnel as Thulgrim becomes a dwarven battering ram, throwing his shoulder over and over into the structure, but it does not budge. Whatever is blocking this door must be sizeable or sturdy, or perhaps both.
"Very well." Sighs Nemean as Thulgrim bounces off of the sturdy door. "Lets head North, I think we will find ourselves on the other side of the pit they were excavating if we keep heading that way from this room. We can always make our way back around to the other side of this room after we search the northern section of the caves."

OOC: Sorry for any delays over the holidays, I should be back on a regular posting schedule again.
You turn to the tunnel behind you, returning to the room with the furnace, waterwheel, and bellows, past the remains of dwarves, orcs, and zombies, and into the dry channel that cuts through the room. At the northern exit to the room, the ceiling closes to a height of five feet above the channel, but the oppressive height (except to Thulgrim) only lasts for a short distance before the channel exits to the opposite side of a cavern that Nemean and Roland have been to before.
A wide rift lies before you, with a stream pouring out of the west wall, across from you. The stream tumbles down into the rift and flows out again to the north. Several ropes are secured to iron stakes along the western edge of the rift, leading down to the chasm floor. There is also a rope on the eastern side near you, which Nemean left the last time he scaled this cliff. The bodies of bugbears that were fought here seem to have been removed from the area. On the opposite end of the rift, there are two separate sets of stairs ascending to the west.

Nemean motions to his comrades as he silently scales down the cliff face, walks through the rift and then scales back up the opposite side and approaches the doorway. He moves slowly and purposefully and keeps a sharp ear out for the sound of more bugbear patrols.

Finna stopped at the edge of the cliff and scanned as much of the room as her magic vision allowed. She listened as well but for now was mostly waiting for a signal to move forward.
After scaling the ropes quite easily, Nemean's foot collapses a section of rock on the far side of the rift. The tumbling rocks resound, but are quickly drowned out by another boom, this one much louder than any that Finna or Thulgrim have heard thus far. Nemean climbs up the northern stairs, disappearing beyond the tunnel walls.
For Nemean:
After climbing two sets of stairs, you see the temple room where you fought and captured the Black Spider looming ahead of you. On your right along the tunnel wall, a stone door lies closed.

"I can try to unlock that if you'd like." he calls in a whisper. Within a moment he has stowed away his weapons and produced some tools from a pouch on his belt.

Roland has seen enough of the doors in this abandoned mine to be familiar with the mechanism keeping this door closed. It is a tough lock to pick, but no match for the rogue, unlocking with a familiar click.
