Going through the short hall to the boudoir you see a very ornate vanity with an absolutely gorgeous looking mirror. In the reflection of the mirror you see an elegant lady sitting at the vanity, sobbing next to a half-finished dinner tray. It also appears that she was in the process of removing her makeup and does not look at you when you start to approach.
Something about this scene, and the creepiness of everything going on, strikes a nerve for Ferro. He has an instinctive sense that he really doesn’t want to see this lady’s face. He can’t explain it but it’s like a dread inside of him.
And yet the possibility of jewelry (or perhaps a valuable perfume?) still tugs at him. Keeping his gaze down, off the mirror, he will cautiously approach the vanity if there are any drawers, and rifle through them, looking for valuables. While doing so, he will say,
“Pardon me, ma’am, but you seem distraught. If it’s about the kids, rest assured that we saw them in the other room just now, and they’re feeling ok.”
Bringing up the rear once again, Rai keeps his weapons unsheathed and his eyes peeled. He tries to make sure no Terrors are gathering behind them, but when they enter the room with the woman, his gaze is locked on the woman and the vanity. He does not speak, instead choosing to hang back and watch her carefully.

Rai you hold back, perhaps feeling a bit wary now, knowing that dangers could be lurking around any corner. You check the room for anything of significance but it is dark and it's hard to tell if you're starting to see things or it's just your eyes playing tricks on you. At the moment all you see is the vanity, mirror, and the lady's reflection. She does seem rather sad though.
The lady barely looks up out at you as she tries to stifle some sniffles."No, it's not the children, they are good kids. It's my husband. He just isn't the man I knew when we were young, he's changed. I don't think he even loves me anymore, he just loves the things he collects. Money and things consume him, the children and I are left alone. And the things I hear about him doing! Oh it's horrible! Horrible!" She bursts into tears once more.
As you get a few steps closer you can see something glowing faintly as well on the top of the vanity, a small gemstone that looks a lot like one of the sigils...
Ferro, trying to hide his annoyance that there are no valuables in the vanity, perks up at something the mirror lady says,
”Money, you say? Yes, that’s just awful when someone has too much money…”
Then he notices the glowing gemstone. Finally, he thinks. Pulling a dagger from his belt, he’ll use that to try to pry off or otherwise detach the gem from the vanity.
Belko tutted, " Well, where is this husband of yours ma'am. I would have words with him about so ill-treating a loving partner and such precious offspring."
" He is neglecting his responsibilities and must make an account of himself."
Close inspection shows that the glowing gem is not on your side of the mirror. The only things on your side of the mirror are the seat, the vanity, and the mirror. The lady and everything else is reflected in the mirror.
You see tears rolling down her face as she continue to cry softly. "Please do something. Save him. Bring me back the man I once knew and loved."
Ferro realizes his mistake with a pang of disappointment. That would be just my luck if all the riches are spirited away into reflection land, he grumbles in his mind.
Thinking about it a bit more, Ferro wonders if the gem in the mirror has a counterpart in the real, non-reflected realm on this side of the mirror. He will tentatively ask the mirror lady,
"Ma'am, there is a way to help your husband, but we may need your help. Could you do something for us? Could you look up here [he points up at the gem] and tell me if you see that glowing gemstone? If so, could you tell us what you know about it? I believe it's a clue for helping your husband."
She wipes her face for a moment and just looks at you with her sad, tear-ridden eyes. "I'm sorry? I...I..." She looks around before moving the plate over. "This? What is this? This isn't mine! Is it my husband's? I don't want it, I don't want it!"She suddenly bursts into tears again and lets the gem fall close to the mirror before burying her face in her hands.
Against his better judgment, but also in accordance with his desperation to get his hands on something valuable at some point, Ferro will try to reach into the mirror to take the gem.
As you reach into the mirror, it suddenly shifts and you feel a wet, stick grasp around your arm as the vanity reveals itself to be a mimic! Ferro is currently being grappled!
“Gaaah!” Shouts Ferro, instinctively trying to recoil, but unable to as he adheres to the pseudo-vanity-turned-monster. Collecting his wits about him, he considers his chances of breaking free from the thing, decides the chances are not great, and instead draws Black Widow with his free hand.
“Let go of me!” He shouts as he hacks at the thing wildly with his sword.
Rube jumps the fight and cast Raulothim’s Psychic Lance at it for 25 damage. (It needs to make an int save of 16 or it is incopasitated. 1/2 damage on save)
In a sudden flurry of blows and magic, the mimic shrieks and loses its hold on Ferro before evaporating into the foggy mist that continues to shroud the home. A small clatter is heard on the floor as the faintly glowing gemstone rolls to the side in plain view. You hear the faint voice of the lady once more,"Thank you...help him..."and then the voice goes quiet. Another heartbeat and the door off to the side unlocks and opens partway.
When you are ready to go through:
You find yourselves walking into a beautiful library, with a roaring fire on one side and every bit of wall is covered in shelves of books. A gorgeous looking wood desk sits not far from the fireplace with various books and papers on top. A buttoned up woman with glasses four sizes too big stands off to the side as if waiting for something or someone.

Ferro mutters back distractedly as he carefully creeps down the hall, straining to see what lies ahead,
“Mother-of-pearl, yes, that would be acceptable.”
