There's a scream outside as the ray splashes into the ground a foot away from a mother and child who were passing by the tavern. Inside, Kazmae plants her back foot extending her open palm towards the bandit who just struck her and releases a pale green cloud of poison into his face. The veins in his neck and face turn black and he gasps clutching at his throat before collapsing to the ground. Delphinium plants her hand into the small puddle of water causing it to splash upward but rather than return to the table the droplets of water swirl and arc towards her other hand. The droplets solidify into a 6 inch icicle that she hurls towards the northern bandit. The ice slams into the bandit's chest and bursts cutting open his clothing and tearing into his torso.
Loodyhoo turns and stabs the bandit in the chest sliding the blade between the ribs and punctures his heart. He falls to the ground like a sack of potatoes. Seeing this the crossbow wielding bandit drops his crossbow and runs out the door into the crowded street. The dark haired bandit, though unconscious appears to still be losing blood from his wound.
Delphinium, Drogore and Kazmae!
(if you wish to pursue the fleeing bandit make a perception check. This will count as your action on your turn but you will still have your full movement.)
"does anyone want to help me find the other guy? I'm trying my best but all I see is a wall." I say, closely inspecting the wall for any signs of the escaping bandit
The fleeing bandit disappears into the crowd while the four of you surround the dying unconscious bandit. Kazmae steps forward and places her hand on his shoulder sending a rush of healing energy through his body. The deep wound in his abdomen closes and the color returns to his face.
The townsfolk standing, crouching or hiding in the tavern have mixed emotions of thanks and fear as they stare as this powerful group of strangers. Some return to their meals and drinks while a few help the waitresses clean up the mess. The dark haired bandit’s eyes flutter open and you see they are a brilliant blue and filled with terror. “Whoa.Whoa. Whoa!” He says holding up his hands and examining the corpses of his friends on the ground and feels his side where Loodyhoo’s dagger stabbed him. “Don’t kill me please.” He murmurs as tears stream down his face.
I strut over to the recovering bandit leader, each step dripping with pride of the victory. I give slight nod to Loodyhoo before gipping the man by his black hair and pulling his eyes up to mine. I lean in and begin to whisper to him.
"I'm in town looking for some...friends...of an old 'acquaintance'. This particular acquaintance used to be employed by an old Count of Listerium. I'm sure that should narrow it down for you. Be a good sport and tell me where I can find them, and I'll do what I can to make sure that ol' poison fingers here doesn't make you regret still living."
I smirk and flutter my fingers, a small puff of green comes out and disappears into the air. Unsure of what Drogore is talking about I ask my own question, "Well before you answer his question I'd like to know why you and your merry bunch of men attacked us?" I walk closer to him as I talk keeping my hand on my dagger.
The bandit looks up from the floor, a look of confusion flashes across his face with each question that it quickly replaced by fear. He begins trembling while his weeping continues. "You killed them. Tomlin, Frederick, Stanley... I can't even see Finley..." he says feeling no obligation to answer your questions. He cowers in fear eyes darting from the floor to the hand on the dagger and continues to shake.

I realize we're going about this ths wrong way, I remove my hand from my dagger and kneel down beside the poor man. "Look we're sorry about your friends, we were only defending ourselves. Im sure you're very upset though and I hate that for you, we're not going to hurt you so just take a deep breath and calm down." I say in a reassuring tone.
After Kazmae's words and actions the bandit loosens up a bit and ceases trembling. Drogore stops tapping his foot impatiently and sighs. The bandit looks up at Drogore and says, "I'm sorry sir. I've no dealing with any counts or acquaintances. We aren't from here. We just been traveling south and stopped here to pick up some food and coin along the way. When your group started showing gold coins I thought you might be an easy score."
Kazmae- You believe he is partially in shock. He's calming down but his response to Drogore seems genuine.
"Well guys I think he's telling the truth, I'm not sure what else we can get out of him. Any other questions?" I feel some guilt over the friends we took from this man.
stepping towards the captured man I say, "I'm very sorry about your friends, but surely you didn't think we wouldn't defend ourselves? By the way, what is the reason for your travels?"
“We’re just bandits ma’am. If we stick around too long we’ll end up in prison or worse. When the famine hit two years ago we lost our jobs and had to find a way to make ends meet. No more no less. We knew what the cost could be but I don’t think we ever imagined finding people as strong as you.” He says beginning to calm even more. “Some things are worse than death. Judging by the coin in your pocket, you’ve never had to worry about such things.” He adds with a bit of bitterness.
Delphinium: you can tell he’s had a rough life and his story is genuine. Looking over his and the other bandits clothes and weapons you can see they have a lot of wear and tear. Their hair is dirty, he appears a bit malnourished and you recall the famine that drove people to hunt the wildlife to near extinction a few years ago.
"We all have our burdens to carry." turning away from the bandit and motioning to Drogore, Kazmae, and Loodyhoo, to step away from the bandit, I ask in a quiet tone, "What should we do with him?"
As you stand there discussing options you hear the sound of a group approaching the tavern. Moments later 4 guards wearing chain mail enter with their swords drawn. Upon seeing the scene they slow and sheath their weapons. A slightly more ornately armored elf steps forward, "We heard there was a disturbance... Loodyhoo, it appears your friends have this handled." he says looking around at the state of the room and bandits. "Volodar Zytoris, Sergeant at arms." the elf says with a nod of his head introducing himself. He turns to one of the guards and says, "Grab the mortician and two more guards from the west gate to begin moving the bodies." Volodar quickly takes charge of the room while a calm but firm tone and begins to interrogate the other townsfolk in the tavern on what occurred. The vines still wrapped around the dark haired bandit fizzle and fade into tiny wisps of arcane magic as Delphinium ends her spell. One guard maneuvers the bandit to the wall by the fireplace while a second disarms him. Over the next several minutes the guards begin covering the corpses and the aged but still spritely dwarf mortician enters with three guards then slowly inspects each before they are transported out of the tavern.
After taking witness accounts from yourselves and the other bystanders the elf returns and adds, "I'd like to congratulate you on protecting our citizens. We'll take this one into custody. I'd like to speak with you all back at the town hall... that is if you're done with your meals."
