Almeric's skins is the same colour as his off-white tabard. His pulse is racing, his hands cold and clammy, his brow wreathed in sweat. The old Sword Master had described these feelings during his training in Braeburg. "Courage is not the absence of fear."he would say, "Courage is being terrified but still doing your job until it is done, even unto death!"
As the gate came into view, Almeric broke ranks and trotted confidently (not ran) to the gate. He must get there first, standing with his back to it, forming his hands into a stirrup shape, arms tense. His outward appearance is calm and measured. Smiling with confidence, Almeric speaks to each person as the approach the gate "Foot in my hands! Hand on my shoulder... and push off!" As each person jumps, Almeric with lift and push, hoping to get the lighter companions over in one vault!
Almeric offers the Prayer of Gatanades until all are over the gate. He was the first in to the place and he will be the last out of it!
"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy; Thy kingdom come ,Thy will be done, in Legend as in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For all Honour, Glory and Power be Your, Almighty God."
It will take time for Ori to climb the Gate while bearing Harold. Almeric must give him time... Almeric holds the relic of St Ambrosius in his shield hand, ready to face death!
The companions continue onwards, hugging the fenceline path as decided, they pass two more paths on their right heading into the centre of the Dell but continue on and after a strtch of time arrive at a familiar grave and the gate to the Dell.
The green lit has grown in both intensity and size and now on the edge of hearing voices can be heard as a cold breeze begins to stir the mist those who listen the voices seem to call,
" Tuannon Dur, rìgh na tìre, Marbh luchd-ionnsaigh, tighearna na h-oidhche. "*
A mournful tune began to drift from the depths of the Dell of bodhran and clarsach.....
Something was waking, something was drawing near....
Famh and Cainneach:-
The dialect is archaic and difficult to understand but you believe the voices are whispering " Tuannon dur, King of this land, Destroyer of invaders, Lord of Night"
Cainneach's mouth twists into a grimace as the haunting whispers enter his mind. He looks back toward Famh to confirm that he is interpreting the voices correctly and from the look on her face, it seems he has. "Everyone, make haste, Tuannon Dur rises and seeks to finish what his thralls started!" Seeing Almeric square up to hoist the party members over the fence, Cainneach will hold toward the end of the queue, keeping an eye out for any imminent threat while assisting the paladin.
(Can the tax man's body fit through the fence as one of us did when we entered? Obviously Ori would retrieve his club first if it seemed like an option)
(Can the tax man's body fit through the fence as one of us did when we entered? Obviously Ori would retrieve his club first if it seemed like an option)
( It'll need to go over. Thatch fitted through cos he's a tiny wee man.)
Ori will give the body to Almeric and start his climb over the fence. Once up, Ori will try to get in a position for Almeric to hand the body up (Greatclub handle up so Ori can grab it) and will try to swing it over. Ori isn't as concerned get down on his feet, as long as he doesn't crash in to anybody on his way down. Ending up on the ground as the rest make their way he says out of breath, "Well that could have went better"
Famh looks anxiously at the sky, then moves over to stand beside Cainneach. "He said he was the Lord of the Night. And it's getting later by the moment. We need haste indeed, and we may need light. I'll watch with you here until everyone's over; my fire might be more effective as a barrier than trying to light it while the things are already trying to scramble over." She calls out to the group, "Everyone stay as close to the fence as possible. I might need to kindle some of these reeds if we need a really big barrier."With that, she takes up her watch on the paths leading to Tuannon Mor's stronghold.

Thatch moves quickly to the gate. At Cainneach’s warning, he looks back toward the center of the dell, then wastes no time in squeezing back through the bars of the gate, going out the same way he first entered the dell. He moves to the side to avoid the falling body of the taxman and pulls out his bow, trying to provide cover for his friends on the other side of the gate. “Quickly, everyone over the fence!”he whispers urgently.
Fergus accepts Sir Almeric's assistance and is hoisted over the fence easily. He tries to correct his balance to land on his feet but eats dirt as he hits the ground. Getting up painfully he calls to the others yet to climb over. "Come on!!" He stretches his hand through the fence gathering the arcane energy once more, ready to start laying covering fire.
(Acrobatics: 3; Ready action: Eldritch Blast; Trigger: enemy attacking ally on opposite side of fence)
Tana vaults over the fence alongside Fergus, landing with a wobbly thud on the other side. Her eyes briefly reflect her panic as she notes the 3 members of their group still beyond the fence, the imminent danger drawing closer with every moment passed.
A hand digs into the dirt, now richer on this side of the fence, the other stretching back toward the group. Preparing to help should the situation turn sour once more.
Ori. Tana, Fergus, Thatch and poor departed Harald are on the outside of the fence.
Within Almeric, Cainneach and Famh prepare to leave.
A blast of chilling cold air washes over the group as they look over their shoulders towards the din and the flickering phospherescent mist....then the reeds and the mist part and a figure is thrown into stark relief...He seems to glide forward, a tall figure against the mist. A large silver clasp bearing a horned, pagan symbol fastens his heavy red cloak at the shoulder. He is thin and grey, with eyes like ice. On his dead brow he wears a crown of holly.
He is Tuannon and he is angered....
( Still stirring from long rest, you have three rounds to leave the Dell to the ( hopeful) safety of the exterior of the boundary fence. Tuannon is moving slowly and is currently 60ft away and closing..)
Cainneach turns to Famh, fearful and with pleading eyes, and yells, "Get out now! You can use your magic from outside the fence." Needing both hands to assist in hoisting Famh out, his swords remain sheathed, his bow slung across his back. Preparing to HelpAlmeric one last time, Cainneach calls to his companions on the other side, "Someone toss a rope over just in case we need it!" At this point, he is unsure if he will help Almeric over or it will be the other way around, but Cainneach is prepared to face death in the form of this Tuannon.
Assuming there are gaps big enough for Ori to stick his arms through, he will reach through to give a boost (Help action) to those left to get out. "Need a lift?"
After ably scrambling over the fence, Cainneach will turn to helpAlmeric make his way over the fence before the paladin was set upon by the grim spectre of Tuannon. "Come on, man! No more time for prayer, get your arse over the fence! We should put as much distance as we can between us and that thing."
Once everyone is safe over the fence, Almeric will quickly venerate St Ambrosius one final time. Then with a flourish to Tuannon Dur, he briskly climbs the gate with a calmness he does not fell. With the assistance of others on the other side, Almeric gets across in a fashion.
Action = Athletics (ADV) = 13 to climb the gate
Collecting his thoughts on the other side of the gate."I believe Tuannon Dur is trapped within by St. Ambrosius, no wonder he is so mad. Let us get back to the road and take stock."

At Cainneach's shout, Famh nods. "You're right. I;m still shaken from that gladius; almost dreamed I saw Hy Breasail that time! I just hope the magic will work through the fence if we do need it." She quickly rests her foot in the hands reaching out to aid her, and then pulls herself upwards to flip over the top crossbar ...

Once safely across, she looks dubiously at the slowly advancing brollachan lord. "I hope he's still trapped, and that we haven't somehow broken the protection of the fence by crossing it. That's equally possible. Perhaps I should try to bar his way with fire and water also, just in case?" She looks questioningly at Almeric and Cainneach.
(OOC: If her offer is accepted, she plans to kindle the black reeds i(on turn 2) n the closest place between us and Tuannon Mor where she could then use mold earth next turn (3) to channel and direct the fire into a longer and straighter barrier before him that would correspondingly take longer for him to get around)
