Almeric considers the opportunity of entering an area of unknown risk for unknown rewards. This was his job now, as a Retained Knight to a Nobleman. Nodding in agreement to Thatch and Fergus, Almeric signals towards the Fortress Tower, to investigate the sighting.
Cainneach is perturbed that his companions seem so eager to entangle themselves with the undead, powerful magicks, or both, yet again and especially after how they fared in their last encounters. He shakes his head, mutters "Seo sinn a-rithist!", and pats Salt to settle the hound prior to entering this unnatural place. After taking a look around to gauge the rest of the party's locations and activities, Cainneach starts to poke around a few of the 'youngest' corpses while trying to keep an eye out for any movement in the three intact buildings.
The bones and fragments tell of a battle between Clans....possibly involving some Mercanian raiders and scattered individuals of somewhat unfamiliar accoutrements. ( He finds three tarnished silver torcs, a blackened brass ring with a stylized wolfs head, a half dozen very tarnished bronze plaid pins and an empty drinking horn)
There are no further signs of movement that he can see though Salt, untroubled by the bones and avenue, bristles when he comes near any of the three remaining buildings.
Fergus relays what he can translate to the others, the self proclaimed majesty of Karvala. Staying on his toes, Fergus looks in shadowy corners as they enter but his focus is pulled to look for the shadowy figure in the window.
(Investigation: 8)
Fergus spots nothing, perhaps it was just a trick of the light....
Ori just huffs as a response to Almeric's nodding response and will start wandering through the place behind Thatch. The youngster seemed to want to explore and Ori figures curiosity can get some in some tight spots, best to stick by him. Probably the most likely to find anything interesting, good or bad. Ori doesn't care much about searching vs leaving the place undisturbed, as long as it keeps his feet on solid ground. (Help action for perception to Thatch)
As indicated by Almeric, Thatch and Ori enter the fortress....
The wreckage of wide wooden gates block the entrance to the fortress. Clambering through the broken timber, you come into a courtyard surrounded by scorched walls and choked with battered masonry upon which may be seen long fronds of dried seaweed. A few stagnant pools add to the air of desolation.
The block surrounding the courtyard is reduced to a gutted shell, but the four towers are marginally more intact. You approach the entrance to the nothern-most tower, where you saw signs of life. Or thought you did.
The entrance tunnel is low, and the stairwell of the tower damp—and dark, despite gaping holes in the walls and roof. A decayed staircase sweeps up to the first floor balcony. A forlorn looking dark haired pale woman in a white gown stands there watching you.
Walking slightly behind Thatch, Ori is looking around for general observations more then trying spot buried treasures, that's what he believed Tatch was on the lookout for. When he first noticed the woman, Ori jumped a bit, not actually expecting to see another person. He nudges Thatch's arm and points his head in her general direction and waves back to Almeric to come that way. Looking back at the woman Ori just mutters "Pardon"
Thatch nods to Sir Almeric and starts to explore the ruins at his instructions. He climbs through the broken wreckage of a gate and heads toward the northern tower. He pauses as he feels Ori’s nudge, grateful to have the big man close behind him. “You see her too, then? It’s not my imagination?”he whispers to Ori, then raises his voice to address the figure. “Apologies my lady, I was told none live here. Are you friends with the watcher out front? Or perhaps with Karvala himself?”

Cainneach is unsure whether it is appropriate to remove the old symbols of the fallen warriors. The ring stands out among the items has uncovered, although Cainneach also finds the lone drinking horn to be somewhat unusual. Given his disconnection from his old home and their customs, Cainneach hopes to consult with Famh regarding how to handle the situation. "Famh, you can see a great fight between some of the clans of our land occurred here, along with raiders and others I can't recognize. Would we better honour the Thulish fallen by removing these items and perhaps attempting to return them to their clans? Or is it best to leave them as they lay? Do you recognize any of the clans' insignia? And do you think that any of these items have any greater ... potential ... then what is apparent? I trust your judgement."

Almeric approaches to stand next to Thatch, looking up at the Woman in White. "I do not think she is human."Almeric will estimate the height of the stairs where the Woman stands. If it is within 60', he will start praying softly in Bacchile, as he had done before in Hob's Dell. Cast Divine Sense

Remembering the dryad across the river in Hob's Dell, Famh steps slightly forward with her palms outspread in a nonthreatening gesture and calls to the woman in white, "Hello, sister. Can we help you or ease your sorrow? Is there any geasa unfulfilled that lies heavy upon you?" But also, as she is stepping forward to address the woman she takes the time to whisper into Cainneach's ear, "Cha leig mi le droch thaibhsean do ghortachadh a-rithist, a charaid as fheàrr." And the whole time, her sharp mind and faerie instincts are working together to call up any memory of a woman like this in the old stories the children used to whisper around Samhaintide in the village where she was born.

Thinking back as best he can to old tales and folklore the ring reminds him of Fengris, The Hunger that will Devour the World, an ancient almost demonic presence found in tales from Mercania to Thuland to Ereworn. The horn rather seems a plain and functional drinking implement, though it will need a new stopper made.

The same slightly cold and empty feeling in his gut emanates from the woman as he felt from the depths of the Dell.....she is almost certainly a shade from beyond the grave.

Though Famh recalls tales of weeping washer-women and bean-sidhe and the like none strike her as much like the woman, like Thatch her words are ignored. But so concentrated is she on the apparition that she does not heed Cainneachs questions.
Seeing the flicker of a snarl at a Karvala, Fergus ponders appealing to her as allies against him but also notices she seems to be ignoring their questions.
"Perhaps she cannot speak, if she is not willing to provide information we should move on." Fergus comments as he looks around the this area at the base of the stairs for clues as to why she may be here.
Tana, having been watching the others with a cautious gaze, inches forward now after several unsuccessful attempts to commune with the strange woman. She carefully reaches out with her mind, her internal voice proding at the woman.
'Hello there. Are you unwilling to answer our inquiries or are you simply unable to speak?'
As the woman continues to ignore her, Famh grows more uneasy, and steps fully between her and Caiineach with her hand firmly wrapped around the handle of her short stick. "We mean you no harm. In Gatanades' name, or whatever God you called holy, may we pass you safely by, in and out, to learn the answers we seek?"

Flinching away from the woman immediately, Tana takes in a sharp breath.
"I don't think she is able to communicate verbally." She manages to rasp out in the direction of the others, blinking a little rapidly to try and clear her mind of the sudden assault of feelings that were not her own.

Having a feeling that the ring may be a threat in the hands of others, Cainneach pockets it before turning to the rest and finding them confronting yet another strange figure, something from between the living world and what lay beyond. He is bolstered by Famh's kind, brave words, and keeps a firm hand on Salt, who is struggling to restrain himself in the face of the emerging evil surrounding them. He places his other hand on the shortsword he carries in Dru's memory and hopes for guidance from his mentor in this next calamitous struggle.

Thatch frowns as the woman, or spirit, responds to Karvala’s name and his mind flicks back to the shade of Mogrin in the old King’s tomb. “Perhaps her spirit is bound to Karvala or this place for some act she did in life. Shall we push on or pick another tower to explore?” Thatch tries to look in the darkness above to see if there is anything in the tower beyond the woman. Perception: 24.
