Off in the distance you see a couple of wolves running through the brush and rock, occasionally looking back towards your group. You think you might have interrupted a good scavenge of theirs and stand pleasantly confirmed when you see the signs of wolf tracks near a bloody pool of melted snow. Looking for signs of other predation, you notice that the reddish snow near where the horses would have ended up has been massively disturbed by a large predator and what might have been mistaken as just rough avalanche snow is actually a fill-in hole from where the horse corpses were lifted right out of the drifts. There don't appear to be any signs that the horses were drug off somewhere though.
For Kathra:
Looking around, you do not find any strange crystals or runed metal disks.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Deep in the snow you think there's a body. It'll take some digging to get to it though.
For Peren:
The melting snows have obscured a lot of tracks and there is also a good mix of what you assume was the expedion's party, whatever or whoever attacked them, and the rescue party, along with some various animal tracks. It's really hard to pick out what racks belong to what group though.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Kathra keeps watch, figuring that digging out a body from the snow probably doesn't exactly require a barbarian's strength. Plus, she'd prefer not to be at stinky dead body ground zero when they get to it.
After a few minutes Gavin and Peren manage to dig out the body of a human female. Her frozen and slightly waterlogged body is extremely pale from death and the loss of blood that clearly exited her body from two evenly spaced piecing woulds near her shoulder. She is lightly armored; likely a hired guard or would-be adventurer.
For Kathra:
As you keep watch over the area, you hear an odd sound on the wind, like the cracking and crumbling of an ice-wall or glacier. You don't see where the sound could be coming from though as most of the icesheets near you have already either melted back or have been spent in the avalanche you are already standing in. Wherever it is, it must be further ahead a ways.
I will search the body for any personal effects (to give to next of kin) or useful gear (that could help us). “This is odd, wonder why they left this body? Seems they were attacked before the avalanche as her wounds happened before she was buried in the snow. We best be on our guard, whatever made these holes is probably still around.”, Gavin warns that he rest of the group.
"There's a strange sound on the wind," Kathra says, pulling her battleaxe off her back nonchalantly. "We might want to get ready for a fight." She tries not to smile too widely at the prospect of a straight up fight after a day's worth of weird crystal shenanigans and a disc that nobody seemed to know anything about beyond some druids maybe having touched it at some point. Fighting is a lot simpler.
You don't find any gear save for the ruined leather armor that she is still wearing. You can see where leather straps have been cut by large, crude, bladed weapons to relieve her of any pouches or parcels. Her weapon, whatever she may have had, is missing as well.
“The body has been looted”, he informs the group. “We should get back under way so we do not get ambushed here. Make sure your weapons are ready to be used.” He checks his war hammer making sure it’s not been tangled up while he was digging.
((Meta you said blood drained from her. As in naturally from the wound or possibly sucked out from the wounds? I figure that’s a medicine check: 6
((Yeah, that was my bad. It looks like two evenly spaced objects pierced into her at the same time and she bled out. There's a lot of arteries in that neck/shoulder region. You don't need a roll to see that the blood is all still mostly there in the snow.))
Thont keeps his fist at the ready and keeps an eye on the wolves. (You mentioned their tracks from the blood away, but can Thont tell what direction they came FROM at all?) Thont's thinking is that even the wolves would try to avoid a larger predator and knowing the direction they came from may give us a safer passage.
What wolf tracks you can see seem to be coming to this area from the direction of a valley a ways away beyond this avalanche. There are a few more tracks than just the ones from the two wolves you saw as well. It's a bit obscured from the snow, but there may be as many as three or four more that are part of that pack.
Before leaving the area, Gavin does his best to put the body back and cover it so predators don’t disturb it. Maybe once we fix the situation up here someone can come gather the body for a proper burial. He says a few whispered words of prayer for the fallen woman before covering her up.
“No wolf did this Thont”, as he gestures to the corpse. “They don’t have large tusks, fangs or whatever made those wounds. Nor do they loot or leave the bodies. Hopefully I’ve buried her deep enough so they don’t come back to feed.. Everyone should be given a proper funeral instead of left out here for the vermin”
Peren will do a survival check to look for tracks

Peren will help Gavin dig through the snow
Investigation = 5
Thont shares what he has found and especially highlights the evidence of a much larger predator at work here.
I mention the possible body and start digging. I ask that at least one of us continue to stay alert

In his travels around the wide world, would Mirabel have an idea of what might have caused such wounds on the dug out body? Let's discover together!
