Lucian, staying close to his friends, concentrates on sticking to the shadows and stepping lightly. Years of learning how to avoid confrontation and detection from unfriendly strangers had instilled in him the innate ability to go unseen. Even with his thrumming heartbeat, he manages to tread silently as they approach the winery.
(Okay, I need to understand marching order. Also, I'm going to experiment with Owlbear Rodeo, so we might switch to using that.
Please use the following link to enter the room: https://www.owlbear.app/room/j-sUhgrHt5qb/TheTenseJig. I am very new to this program, but I hope it will help combat go a little easier. You can use it to move your own character on the map)
(I think Eithne is marching in front as our fearless leader... and Chara would probably feel safest if she was in the middle of the line between Eithne and Lucian.)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Bran, as part of the group that will initially move only as far as the well, waits for Eithne, Chara and Lucian to leave first and will follow them from a little afar, so he doesn't interfere with their stealthy approach.
Also, as the party has agreed on making Ichabod scout the perimeter of the house to see that no one is around, he will wait for them to give an indication that it is safe to continue up to the well.
(OOC: I believe Lenn said that he wanted to be the last in order because of his armor, so when approaching the house I don't mind being ahead of the second group. Upon arriving the well, I'd like to stay within 30 feet of the house - to be able to enter in a single turn in case the druid cannot be attracted outside. I guess that can be near the well itself, or behind the toilet, which is not very fancy, but useful to stay hidden from house view)
(Okay, I have placed you where I think you want to go. Feel free to move your own character from now on. I will add the other floors to the maps as we need them. Also, I need everyone in the second party (around the well) to make a Stealth check as well)
Situated in the midst of the vineyard, the winery is an old, two-story stone building with multiple entrances, thick ivy covering every wall, and iron fencing along its roofline. The trail ends at an open loading dock on the ground floor.
A wooden stable of more recent construction is attached to the east side of the winery, next to the loading dock. West of the winery is a crumbling well and a wooden outhouse.
(Did you approach the north or the south of the winery on your way to the door?)
Just to the north of the western door, you see an open-air veranda. Resting on the flagstone veranda are three five-foot-diameter wooden tubs, their insides stained with grape juice. Each tub has a short ladder bolted to its side and a catch basin tucked underneath.
At the back of the veranda is a large set of sliding wooden doors as well as a normal-sized wooden door. Stone pillars and arches support the upper floor above.
(OOC: weird roll, at first no number appeared and now it does but with the red warning. Oh well! ... I think the original result was a 10. +1 thanks to Lucian = 11 )
...(Did you approach the north or the south of the winery on your way to the door?)...
The western door hangs open.
I'd say we approach from south, less openings there.
Eithne leads the stealthing group through the western doors, entering the big room where the target druid is supposed to be (unless something very interesting is in the small room between the two western doors).
Moved my token to big room entrance (was I supposed to, right?)
(Lenn's Stealth: 9, 19 Also I do think that Lucian's boost was only for the stealthy party, if not, it's just a big ol' 10 for Lenn)
Lenn waited for all to have gone, the family with the cart and the first team trying to surprise the enemy and stablish a safe beach for them to proceed. He was just leaning against a tree. He then speaks in his low tone of voice.
"You must understand. Not everyone is willing to tale the risks you have accepted by joining us. Specially if their children are with them. You saw what was about to happen with Lucian last time he was in a fight. Have you thought what could happen if that happens when others nearby? or the children? I think you didn't. They weren't going to leave without his father, and even if they did, imagine their future if he died trying to help us. " Lenn slowly moves his head from one side to another. "Also, there were more reasons than you know for me to insist they left. No worries I do not hold it against you. You still don't know. But I must ask you. Next time you decide to ask someone for the exact same opposite thing one of us is asking them... try to think twice before talking. We have our reasons. "
He doesn't raises his voice, not make any movement with his arms crossed over his chest.
(lol, I used to roll in the game log, but I think something to do with my internet makes it give me the same roll over and over again. That's the only reason I tend to stick with the forum roller.)
(Lenn's Stealth: 9, 19 Also I do think that Lucian's boost was only for the stealthy party, if not, it's just a big ol' 10 for Lenn)
(The boost is for anyone within 30ft of Lucian. It's always active as long as we are all trying to move stealthily :D)
Lucian has no problem taking the back of the line, even though his instincts say that he should be in front of Chara since she is more of a ranged fighter than he is. But if she is more comfortable in the middle, then he is perfectly willing to stay in the back.

Bran looks at Lenn as he speaking, his face serious and his mouth forming a line. Quite the contrary to the usual relaxed demeanor he tends to display. When the paladin finishes speaking, the bard looks at some far point in the vineyard, meditating what to say next. A quick thought comes to his mind. "Gears working together for the system to run perfectly", he had said to Lady Wachter, speaking about the party. Obviously, that was not happening. Not yet at least.
He looks again at Lenn before speaking:
- I think you are not being completely fair, Lenn. "Asking someone for the exact same opposite to what you wanted" in this case would mean that I wanted the Martikovs to be in real danger. That was never my intention. Did I have Lucian's case in mind when speaking? That is fair, I didn't. I do not have it that present as he - or you for, that matter - does. That, I will certainly work to improve. But let me say that the other reason for me to not have it on my mind is because I never expected them to be nowhere near us. The impression I've gotten so far from this family - be that the case of Urwin and Dannika, or Adrian and Davian - is that they are wise, capable and knowledgeable. With that in mind, I expected they could help us either by sharing their knowledge, or by acting in some way that could prove useful without getting in inmediate danger. As I had that impression, I just wanted them to express how they could help, if they could. And for that to happen, Lenn, they needed to have the chance to speak their minds. That's all I ever wanted. - Bran rubs his forehead for a moment, still unsure why that conversation went so badly in the eyes of the paladin. But it did go badly, and that was a clear sign that the bard needed to follow a better approach when facing similar situations in the future. "For the gears to be able to work perfectly together" - In any case, I think I see your point, and though it seems there is some data I'm lacking - which I hope I will get to know someday - I will remember your words.
(OOC: Approaching from the south is fine by me, too).
(After approaching the house)
Bran isn't an expert on stealthy movement and he just does what he can. It's obvious that he needs to train this a little more, seeing that he hasn't moved as silently as Chara, Eithne and Lucian seem to have done. He hopes this doesn't attract unwanted attention, but there's nothing more he can do for the moment but wait and hope they are lucky and find the first druid exactly where he's expected.
While he waits, he takes a look at the well, wondering if the druids have poisoned this water as well, along with the Martikovs' wine. He also takes a look at the outhouse, just simply paying attention. Wouldn't want some random druid to appear from inside of it out of the blue...
(OOC: I'll throw a perception for checking well and outhouse, just in case. Game log roll= 12.)
Nikolai replies bluntly to Lenn. "I appreciate that you're concerned about the kids, I really do. And apparently you're concerned about your ability to control yourself in battle, which now also concerns me. But please do me the courtesy of not thinking I'm a simpleton. Yes, I realize the risk of asking those families to help defend their ancestral estate. Did you think about the consequences for those children if we lose this battle? Wandering about from place to place, begging for food and shelter? I have lived that. Have you? Death is not always the worst thing that can happen to you. I don't wish to argue, Lenn. But I'm always going to speak my mind."
Bran now looks confused at Lenn and Nikolai because of something the later has said. "...you're concerned about your ability to control yourself in battle...? What ...?". He adds nothing, but just stays silent and, well, rather confused.
(No problem! :D Anyone within 30ft of Lucian can get that bonus ;). )

I’ll be in front of Lenn.
