"Yeah - that last worm moved awful fast...not sure scouts could make it back to the main body in time. We should stick together - perhaps with me and the shield guardian in the center of the group so that only half of us need to move to the protected side of the big guy here,"Horkas says while patting the shield guardian.

The noble drow gives the human and the gnome an appreciative nod for taking care of the zhentarim mercs safe descent, then nodding in agreement with the others. "We do not currently have the use of the earth elemental servant I'm afraid but my familiar will scout ahead as per usual, and since it flies I suspect it will not alert the purple worms to our presence." Traydark says.
Grax'xt perception as he scouts ahead for threats: 14
It takes a minute or two for Grax'xt to fly around the area here, but doesn't spot any threats. The area north of where you came down is a little shorter but carpeted with what is probably fungus, while the large area to the east of where you came down has a slope up (indicated by the pink arrows) and is taller in space but the floor appears to be covered in bones of some kind. The area directly to your right on the map has a high ceiling too, but there is a large chasm in the floor which Grax'xt cannot see the bottom, but there is a body a short ways down on one side (indicated by the red line in the black circle).
(Lulu didn't see/hear anything of note with her 27 perception check?)
Nope, it is dead silent down here.
Edit: Nothing to hear no. But with darkvision (or light) she can make out the same things Grax'xt could if she starts moving around. But the immediate space you fell down into is bare.
Khessa compliments the drow girl for the quick reflexes that prevented her from falling: "You are really an alert girl, Hanne!" she pats her on the shoulder, with a brigh smile "I should really learn from you... Speaking of learning... I know you're studying arcane magic, right? You know I'm studying it too? When we have a moment to stop and rest, I can teach you the spell I used just now, the one to protect yourself from falls... You know, even if you are so alert and agile, one day you might need it! What do you think?"
After Hanne answers her (whether she accepts or refuses) the blonde arcane warrior, in light of Grax'xt's report, advises: "It seems that the only way forward is down the large chasm in the floor. We'd better go down from there. After all, the Purple Worm that had escaped us had also escaped deep... downward... Perhaps Purple Worm nurseries are usually located deep down".
"Once we reach the edge of the chasm, we can probably all go down it by taking turns riding the Lizards" the tall adventurer speculates. "Maybe me and the bad4sses here first... so that if someone hostile arrives (as bones and corpses suggest it's not unlikely) we're the first to bear the brunt. Then everyone else in order".
And if no one objects, Khessa and the Gauntlet Infantry lead the Army's advance into the chasm...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Horkas adds to Khessa's plan, "We should probably check the body first. And avoid the fungus, maybe? Sometimes they are ok, sometimes they release spores that choke you, sometimes they emit a loud screeching sound which will surely attract critters..."
Hanne thinks for a moment. "I don't know. I'd really like to find my mother first. I'm not sure I can take you up on that offer, but thank you."
A search of the fungal area asserts that they seem to be mostly edible fungi, nothing odd or unusual about them otherwise. It will take some time though to sort through them all though to find enough edible ones to cull and take with you.
As Khessa and her troops head for the room with the chasm, they'll find the hill rather slippery and loose. (Make a Dex saving throw, DC 12, to get up the hill. On a failure you slide back down but no damage).
Those that have made it up the hill safely can wait for the others, or use ropes to assist the others up.
This 30-foot-high unlit cavern has a twenty-foot-wide pit in its center, which descends far beyond what any of you can see. Thirty feet down is a small ledge holding the skeletal remains of a moon elf adventurer clad in moldering leather armor.
"We're looking for the same thing your mother was looking for... so, you'll see, we'll probably find her again!" Khessa's blue eyes shine with confidence, as she fixes them into those of the young drow girl "But if we happen to rest a bit and you would like to try to learn the spell, of course you can take me up on that offer! Why not? We are both wizards - although you are probably receiving much better teaching than me and therefore you will probably become very good! We both share, if not other things, at least the love for knowledge".
The blonde arcane warrior realizes that the hill is quite slippery and she takes due care, avoiding slipping. However, she becomes curious... so, while she waits for Olaf and Tamryn, who have slipped back, to come back up, she tries to understand what is making the ground so slippery. Is it a substance that she can recognize?
If the tall adventuress doesn't recognize it, she, out of curiosity, also asks for Horkas' help to understand what it is. (Also to understand if it could be a sort of trap - someone who has made the hill slippery with a substance that has nothing to do with the environment, just to make those passing by slip towards the chasm - or a mere natural phenomenon).

It's just natural, loose dirt and muck on a steep slope, nothing magical or trap like at all. Just a steep slippery slope to climb.
OK, if Athletics is needed, Khessa gets herself secured to a rope, so as not to fall down in case of failure, and while the infantrymen hold the rope she makes her attempt. (The rope, among other things, will also be used to climb back up and report to others).

“I agree on both” Khessa smiles.

Khessa: 17
Thora Nabal: 12

Olaf Renghyi: 9
Elias Drako: 17
Tamryn Tharke: 6

Khessa's Investigation, if needed: 13
[[ OOC: OK, from what I read it seems that the path to the chasm at least is not slippery. Very well ]]
Khessa descends to the dead elf riding her Lizard, then questions him
Question 1: I'm sorry for your death, elf adventurer. What killed you?
It's just natural, loose dirt and muck on a steep slope, nothing magical or trap like at all. Just a steep slippery slope to climb.
The lizard can't walk down, it is a sheer drop. You will have to make an athletics check to get down to the body.
The pink arrows are the slippery slope. The black circle with the red line is the chasm.
Dex saves:
Horkas: 15 :: 16 :: 12
Skitter: 11 :: 6 :: 22
Guardian: 4 :: 2 :: 7
