"Whether they are actually somehow communicating with the petrified angels or not I fear they have at least to some degree all been affected by the demonic madness permeating the Underdark. At least they seem to remember our mission and since we don't have a way to remedy their ailments I suggest we just ignore or play along and hopefully we can deal with their sanity once we have completed our mission in full."The noble drow says grimly and quietly. It was concerning though, could he trust the others to stay on the course or would they lose it completely at some crucial moment, he could only hope it wouldn't come to that. "You seem to be quite resilient though, or is it simply that it is hard to tell the difference with you?"He adds quietly with a quick grin.
"How are things coming along with those feathers?"Traydark then asks the others in an encouraging tone.
Lulu shares her question and the answer from Zarod with the others as she moves to the next angel, ready to carve another feather free.
"I do no' ken if we can trust their word, though. I 'spose, whether they're being truthful or lying, our next step is clear. But be careful touching them, friends. They clearly have an effect on those who do."
"Yes, we noticed..."The noble drow says, grinning over at Katryl. "...delusions..." He whispers to the genasi. "...just say if you think we should let the earth elemental take care of the touchy bits?" He then continues to answer the gentle firbolg.
Khessa is puzzled when Lunaria reveals the wish she has received: "Hmmm... It seems contradictory... 'the rain falls on the good and the evil, on those with and without law'... this first sentence seems to indicate indifference, that what we could eventually do with the Maze Engine will affect everyone. But then 'one farmer's salvation is another's ruination'... this second sentence goes the opposite way, it seems to indicate that we could unleash a saving effect for the common folk and ruinous for the invading demons".
"Perhaps," the blonde arcane warrior hypothesizes "with the Maze Engine it is possible to unleash some generalized effect... and if we choose an effect that damages the demons and does not damage the others, we could gain an advantage. Who knows if the Maze Engine could for example bless this area, so that for the Demons it is unpleasant - or even painful?"
When Traydark asks how the feather collection is going and even offers to help with the Earth Elemental, the tall adventurer smiles happily: "We're almost done now... The feather Lulu is collecting should be the fourth - and we need six of them. If you want to have the Elemental collect the last two we need, go ahead... but I think he'll hear the Angels' voices too. The one who might be immune to this influence, being a construct, should be Horkas' Shield Guardian".
Khessa, if indeed the last feathers are collected by someone else, in the meantime takes out her own armored spellbook and enthusiastically notes down all the incredible arcane wonders that are manifesting in this place, where petrified Angels remain able to communicate with the minds and souls of those who touch them - and even grant them powerful divinatory effects!
Lulu you hear the name "Baatral", and lots of ethereal screaming for a moment as something tugs at your mind...but unable to find a hold it all dissipates, leaving you holding another stone feather.
"Yes," Katryl says, after Traydark's offer to have the earth elemental do the work. "It really seems like it might be safer to have the elemental do this work on getting feathers," she suggests. Although presumably directed towards the trio collecting them, she is much more intently watching Lulu with concern.
Horkas, this angel reaches toward the ceiling, its face a mask of hatred. As you go to take a feather, you hear the name "Anaya" and a blast of terrible mental energy hits you as you pull a feather away. (take 11 psychic damage)
[[ OOC: @Horkas: I was pretty sure that all those saving throw requests were not made just for fun... Since all saves targeted mental stats, maybe it's better to let the Shield Guardian take the last feathers... it should be immune to most mental effects ]]
"Aaahhh!" Horkas exclaims as he pulls a stone feather away and puts a hand to his head. The shield guardian mimics the movement, a massive metal hand reaching up towards its head. "This one is full of hatred and anger - I don't know if its name is Anaya, or if Anaya is the object of its hatred, but my mind hurts from that level of animosity...seems the others have hurt you all, too. Maybe we let the Guardian take the last feathers?"
The guardian will snap off two more feathers - not as precise as those using tools, but certainly effective... (It's not immune or resistant to psychic damage, but it does regenerate!)
"No, poor Tamiel didn't hurt me..." Khessa turns a look full of pity to the Angel with whom she had first entered into communication "In fact, as you witnessed, he offered to answer two of my questions... Maybe these Angels have been here so long that the Demon Lord Madness sometimes makes them forget their good and just nature... and I was lucky with Tamiel, while you, Horkas, with Anaya were not!"
"I really hope that the basilisk of Gravenhollow is able to cure them..." the voice of the blonde arcane warrior is full of emotion "For Angels, finding themselves confined here, with the risk of slipping further and further into madness and forgetting their true nature, must be a punishment not unlike incarceration in the Nine Hells..."
Fussing over Horkas, the cleric lightly whaps Katryl's leg with her tail. She has seemed a bit more... fiery as of late. But when it seems there's no other effect upon her friend, she turns to the emotional wizard.
Lulu puts a soothing hand to Khessa's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "More than likely, this is their punishment because they betrayed their nature, lass. One tried to take hold of me as well. It was by the Grace of my Mistress that they did no'." She looks upon the fallen angels with a measure of sympathy. She herself had come close to such a fate. "If this is punishment from the Gods, no spell will be enough to end their sentence. But they may one day find their time served and release from these prisons of stone."
Looking at the others, she nods, ready to move on when they are.

(3/6 feathers collected so far, once Horkas finishes his post when he can)
Lulu, this angel appears to be reaching out as if offering something.
Make a DC 15 Charisma saving throw.

CHA Saving Throw: 13+3 16

(4/6 collected)
The firbolgs eyes scrunch shut, hand on her holy symbol as the screams echo through her mind. When it passes, she releases a long breath.
"Two to go," she says, holding the fourth feather aloft with a grin, before giving it to Horkas to add to his gnome purse for safekeeping.
Horkas finishes his feather-carving and moves to the next. (Sorry...did I miss something that Horkas needs to do / check? Thanks!)

@Horkas
He rolled a few post after your request

"I'd have that that would have been wise from the start," Katryl says in response to Horkas' suggestion to use the guardian. "But what do I know?"
