The drow is unimpressed and refuses to face Yabo again. The goblin says to Gan, "No can do, your welcome to bet on the next contestant though" to the crowd "Anyone else ready to test their strength against the best of the Aurora Watch?"
She starts to tilt, confused how this scrawny opponent could be matching her. As she re-situates in her chair, suddenly her elbow slips on the table and her arm twists uncomfortably. You take advantage and slowly press her hand to the table. The moment it touches the crowd erupts!
Onizos laughs and nods. He’s making as much eye contact as he can with Maryl now, trying to gauge her as a person and also trying to show a calm confidence.
He’s going to crouch down as if he’s going to retract into his shell, and hopefully Gan is going to make a bit of a distraction, during which he will cast silent image to make it appear as though he has retracted into his shell, so that it’s just a shell lying on the ground. But really he will stand back up, collect himself for a few moments (but the image in his space will be that of the shell on the ground), then cast phantasmal force on Maryl. This will end his concentration on the silent image though so he needs to quickly crouch back down and act as though he is getting out of his shell and standing back up. Hopefully Gan’s distraction will have smoothed over some of the awkward transitions there!
If the spell succeeds then Maryl is going to be under the impression that Onizos is starting to glow red and hot. This will be mild at first but increasing. He will approach her, now ready to arm wrestle. His intention is that once they join hands he will be glowing so red and hot, like actual molten lava, that she will have to withdraw.
Gan looks at Onizos for a moment wondering what on earth he's supposed to do.
For lack of anything better, Gan hops up onto the arm wrestling table itself, and using a touch of Thaumaturgy amplifies his voice three times as loud as he can normally make it, starts shouting "Look at me. I'm the center of attention. Anybody want to buy a dagger possessified by a whiny demon?"
Igreis keeps silent but frowns at the thought of dealing with soldiers from such a place, having been told how disorganized they were compared to properly trained soldiers. He refocused back on the arm wrestling when one of his companions jumped up on the table. "This is different...."
Baetrix feels bummed about Yabo's loss, but pats him on the shell with sincerity. "Good effort, big guy."
She looks around for Igreis.
Perception: 14 (maybe unnecessary, but I rolled in the log)
Seeing him (but probably failing to recognize his look of concern at the soldiers), Baetrix will sidle up to him and watch Gan's performance.
"This band has an odd way of overcoming trials. I think I'll try my chances in their company awhile longer. What of you? Will you keep with us or do you have some bone-cold fort to return to soon?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gan, the two Drow rush you and attempt to pull you down off the stage (Grapple: 21). You can resist with and Athletics or Acrobatics check, otherwise they toss you back into the crowd.
Onizos, as you feign surprise at Gan, you mutter your incantations under Gan's booming voice. Maryl doesn't seem to have noticed, but scanning the crowd, you see Maggie Keeneyes with a particularly disappointed scowl on her face.
Gan looks from Yabo to the goblin bookie.
”Double or nothing on the tortle?” Gan suggests, looking to get his gold back.

Gan’s confused for a moment until he realizes that Yabo appears to be out of the competition.
He looks over at Baetrix and Igreis, and holds his hands out to see if either of them will give it a try, being warriors and all.
Onizos (as the scrawny tortle) will give it a go, why not?
(Onizos's strength modifier is -1)
Athletics checks: 17, 7, 17
She see's another scrawny tortle approach and laughs "Is this the best Jigow has to offer?"
Athletics: 20
She doesn't put a lot of effort into her first attempt and is just barely able to keep you at bay.
Her second roll: 8
You both take a breather for the second round, trying to get situated for the next push.
Third roll: 4
She starts to tilt, confused how this scrawny opponent could be matching her. As she re-situates in her chair, suddenly her elbow slips on the table and her arm twists uncomfortably. You take advantage and slowly press her hand to the table. The moment it touches the crowd erupts!
Gan claps Onizo-tortle on the back.
"You got another one in you?" Gan asks. "I'm sure I can get good odds on you against the champ over there."
Onizos laughs and nods. He’s making as much eye contact as he can with Maryl now, trying to gauge her as a person and also trying to show a calm confidence.
But mentally he’s trying to come up with an underhanded trick. He doubts he can beat her with strength, the first victory was a fluke.
Onizos the tortle announces loudly,
“This may be hard to believe, as I won so easily, but I need to rest briefly before facing Maryl.”
He will telepathically ask Gan to make a bit of a distraction for him.
(I need to finish this post later, busy at work)

When Yabo loses and isn't afforded a second match he shrugs, tells them it's their loss, and leaves the table.

Maryl Intelligence save: 6
Onizos gives Maggie a shameless shrug and grin, and settles in with Maryl to face his fate.
(could have gone with dissonant whispers, way more subtle to pull off but I didn’t want to deal 4d6 psychic damage to Maryl)
