Maryl strides us and meets you at the table Onizos. She's very serious looking and seems unfazed by the commotion. She sits down, cracks her knuckles and takes your claw.
Gan doesn't see much point in stepping up to arm wrestle. It's not exactly his forte. He's ready to move on to the next event when the others are ready.
"I have not been stationed at any such place. Most of my time has been spent patrolling the wastes outside of my home city to deal with any monsters that wander to close." Igreis tells her as his red eyes move from the arm wrestling to Beatrix. "What of you? I would ask what humans do but I get the feeling your answer would not be the norm."
You are able to follow a trail of large tortoise footprints and stench to where festivalgoers are clustered around a paddock full of young horizonback tortoises that are shuffling around inside the enclosure. The fifteen-foot-tall tortoises are being tended by young herders, who are fitting them with makeshift bridles. These individuals are overseen by a tall, attractive orc who makes sure the bridles are attached correctly.
The orc waves at you and says, “Have you come to join the horizonback migration? There’s a tortoise for each of you, and a medal to be won if you make it to the end in one piece. Last year we had to rebuild three houses after the festival!”
Onizos wrinkles his nose, having hoped he had put these turtles behind him, but supposing these ones are much smaller, and admitting to himself that it looks like it could be fun, he steps forward to participate.
The shepard introduces himself as Adan and is pleased to help anyone interested up into a saddle. There is no entry fee and you get the feeling this is as much about putting you to work as it is the competition.
Yabo will walk up and greet one of the tortoises respectfully in Primordial, calling them cousin, and telling them that they are needed somewhere else.

Adan climbs atop a slightly larger tortoise at the front of the paddock and shouts, "We'll be leading these young ones out of the paddock to make room for the closing ceremony crowd. Take the reigns and follow me. We have to weave through the Jumble to get to the fields to the west."
He shakes his reigns and starts lumbering out of the yard. Everyone helping, please make an Animal Handling check to get your tortoise moving and out of the paddock. Yabo you can make your Animal Handling checks with advantage.

Yabo Animal Handling: 15
((Unless it's required that he ride, Yabo will stride ahead, reins in hand, clearing out the crowds and hopefully getting his horizonback to follow in his wake.))

Gan tucks into a ball as the drow throw him back into the crowd.
”That’s abuse” Gan shouts, his voice still amplified.
Yabo will scoop Gan up and place him on the ridge of his shell, behind his head.

Gan surveys the crowd from his perch up on Yabo's shoulders. He was initially going to complain, but Gan finds he likes the view from up here.

Maryl's first Athletics roll: 14
((damn, I was really hoping you'd make it with those good rolls))
She effortlessly crushes your hand to the table. It seems she over compensated based on your defeat of her friend.
Like Yabo, you can attempt to convince her to a rematch with a Charisma skill
Onizos doesn’t feel that would be necessary.
He (as a scrawny tortle) gives a wobbly feeble bow to Maryl and says, “Well done, m’lady.”
"OOF, that's gotta hurt. Any other brave souls?" hollers the goblin bookie.
Others are welcome to try. If not, before heading out, I know Baetrix and Igreis were having a side conversation you can finish up if you'd like.

As Baetrix and Igreis talk, Gan will find the directions to the turtle herding and lead the group that way, climbing down from Gan's shoulders first.
"Yo Yabo," Gan says. "You able to conversate with turtles? That would make herding easier."

Who wants to jump on a tortoise?
Onizos does. He’ll clamber up onto the smallest most docile-looking one he can spot.
"I talk to the', 'ut they don't talk 'ack."

Gan eyes the large tortoises for a moment before quickly climbing up on to the shell of the closest one.
"So what've we gots to do here?" Gan asks the tortherd.

If they’re allowed to ride, Gan will go with that option and just run the horizon back into anyone who doesn’t get out of the way.
