Nygil crosses his arms and wipes the water from his eyes off his face, "At last. I can see again! Now... where are those blasted creatures?" He eyes the sand, ready for anything to jump out at him... then he realizes that the fight is over. "Aw, right when I manage to get the sand out of my eyes? That's no fair."He sighs, "Oh well, at least we can start moving again."
Then he looks awkwardly to Jack, Rethen, and Mordred, "...Um, thanks you three." He pauses, glaring at the sand where the worm had tried to drag him down before resuming walking down the path. "Well, lets be going then! Unless anyone needs a break?"
"Well, that was unpleasant," joked Jumble weakly as he dusted the sand off of his clothing. Looking around at the others, the bard did a quick head count, then sighed with relief. He whipped out his notes, writing as he made conversation.
"Alright, looks like no one got eaten. Or sand-blasted too badly." He paused a moment, finished writing and put his paper away, then re-summoned his familiar onto his shoulder. The owl took off into the air with nary a glance from Jumble, then began circling several stories up, keeping a watchful eye on the landscape.
He continued, "Still... Nygil's right; if anyone needs a rest, now might not be a bad time to take one."
Mordred had came over to Tamara placing a hand on Tamara's shoulder is blood was beginning to cool down from the battle before. His wounds settling it and his exhaustion as well, his hand had begun to glow as a light began to cover Tamara. (Lesser Restoration.) He had restored her sight waving a hand in front of her face he had looked down to ask.
"Can you see..?"
He had walked over to Rethan intentionally making his footsteps loud and known as he cleared his throat to announce his presence as well.
"Need help? Getting that sand outta you're eyes? "
Mordred had turned to look to the others.
"So are we pushing on? Or taking a rest?"
Jumble and Nygil seemed okay with taking a break but Mordred wanted to know how everyone felt about the idea.
OOC Mordred is offering the "Help" action to Rethan for advantage on it ^^
But my medicine is -1 so you can say he isn't able to help if ya want.
"You're welcome," Rethan responds to Nygil. "As for moving on...I could still use some help getting this sand out of my eyes before we start walking again."
He turns his head in Mordred's general direction as the other man offers to help him with the sand, and gladly accepts the offer, pulling out a waterskin so they can use it to rinse his eyes and hopefully get the sand out easier.
Medicine with advantage: 6
"I hate sand," he mutters as the water doesn't seem to help.
"Nobody but Midnight," Rethan adds mournfully in response to Jumble's comment about no one being eaten. "Fortunately I have the materials to re-summon him, but it'll take an hour, and should probably wait til we're out of this desert to somewhere a bit safer. And I only have the materials to do it one more time, so I won't be able to do it again unless I can find more."
"Nobody but Midnight," Rethan adds mournfully in response to Jumble's comment about no one being eaten.
Jumble frowned at the thought of losing a familiar, then nodded, waiting for the man to finish before offering, "Well, just know that I also have some of the components to do so, if you run out first. You're welcome to them."
An idea then came to the bard, and he walked over to stand in front of Rethan. "Let me try," he said tentatively, as he cast a spell to clean his companion's eyes.
(( OOC: I know this is technically trying to remove the Blinded condition with a cantrip, but I'm hoping that since it's just sand, and not magically or medically induced, that this will work. ))

(lol, I just realized I forgot to add that last 11 points of damage to Nygil :'D)
Nygil waits just a little ways ahead of the group, waiting to see if anyone else wants to keep going. He won't stop for a rest unless anyone else needs to...in spite of how badly he's limping due to the worm bite on his foot. "We can rest here...or we can keep going. Unless we are worried about not having somewhere to rest in the city, it might be better to keep going. If we rest out here, we could get hit by another sandstorm." He shrugs, "But I'll do whatever everyone else is up for."
Zalten breaths a heavy sigh of releif as the sandstorm subsides and whatever was left of the horde of wormlings dissipates, the sand rustling for one final time before coming to a standstill. He himself is almost entirely unharmed, but looking around at his fellow companions, it's clear that the same is not the case for all of them. He's wary about taking a rest in the middle of the desert where danger could lurk around any corner, but sees that many of his companions are in clear distress. Hearing Nygil's comment, he says:
"I'm not sure Dawn will be all that much safer for us. I would imagine from the moment we set foot in the city it will be of utmost importance to keep our presence unknown, as Zoran will likely be on guard for anyone sent to take the crown from him. Maybe it is simply best if we rest out here, dangerous as it is, rather than linger in Dawn for any longer than we have to. If we do decide to keep going, I can try to heal one of you a bit, though I don't have much magic left at my disposal to do so"
(Isn't Jack also still blind? I think I only got one successful Medicine check out of the three needed...)
Con Check for Round 3 because I didn't post in time: 14
Jack lets out a huge sigh of relief as she feels the sand and the wind move away from her. But now that the sand is gone, it no longer numbed the cuts that mark her whole body---small trails of warm blood drip down her face, hands, and through her clothes. And she was still struggling with the sand in her eyes, which wasn't helping at all. "Is everyone okay? Anyone in need of first-aid?" Despite not being able to see, she can't help but face Nygil and raise her eyebrows. She hasn't seen what condition he's in, but he definitely didn't seem like he was doing to well based on all the screaming he was doing during the sandstorm itself. "Oh, you definitely need to heal." She says this in the same tone as a fiercely overprotective parent would, pointing her finger in the elf's general direction and striding over to him.
After walking a couple paces to where she thinks he is, she takes her case from off her back. She snaps it open and gets out a large lute. She puts the strap over her head, and her fingers find the right notes without even needing to see. And she sings a small prayer in Sylvan, the few measures of melody rolling off her tongue and floating over to the elf as the instrument glows slightly.
"Don't strain yourself, Nygil. That did something, but it won't make you invincible." Jack puts the lute away with a satisfied huff. "Now. I could use a rest, but that's probably just 'cause I'm not used to this kind of traveling. But if the rest of y'all're okay with pushing forward, I won't complain."
(I'll make another Medicine check in my next post. I just didn't want to do too much in one go.)
When the sand finally laid where it was meant to be - on the ground... Kashika let out a sigh of relief. She had survived it once more. And after taking a look around, she saw that despite all the screaming, no one else had been dragged down to hell. She took a moment to brush any sand off of her clothing and body before everyone else began talk of resting, and or pushing on. Both sides had valid points but she didn't feel as though it would matter much either way. Regardless, once everyone had said their piece thus-far... she spoke up. I-I know this will sound harsh, but these were only babies compared t-to the one that took my last g-group. The one that took my group was at-least a h-hundred... if not a t-t-thousand times larger. And while she may have been exaggerating slightly, or perhaps her height altered her personal perception, but you could all tell she was at the very least not being intentonally dishonest.
I do not posess the s-spells myself, but.. perhaps with how many mages of every type we p-posess... one of us has some spell that will alert us to danger? Or p-perhaps create a temporary shelter? If not.... We should move, atleast to the outskirts of the city... that way at-least if we find ourselves fighting b-beasts... we can make it the cities problem as well... or.. get away if T-tymora is with us.
Tamara cleared the last bit of sand of her eyes, and when she blinked it all out she saw all the worms were dead and the sandstorm had died down. She briefly shook her head in frustration. Not good at all... another like that and--
She almost jumped when Mordred comes up and checks on her. "Yes, I'm fine. Got the last of that sand out of my eyes," she said. "Ah... thank you for asking."
Tamara listened to the others discussing if they should rest here or move on to Dawn. "I think the best option would be to move a little bit closer to Dawn before we rest. We do need to be at full strength for this last leg, but Nygil's right--" she cringed briefly as she said that "--that something else bad could happen if we stay out here. I like Kashika's idea of reaching the outskirts of the city. I doubt it will be that difficult to keep a low profile."
Jumble listened to the others; Kashika's suggestion in particular caught his ear. "I agree with Kashika," he said. "Unfortunately, I don't have any magics to help with resting. Unless someone else does, then I'd think getting closer to town is a better idea, since we seem close. Not necessarily in it though, unless another sandstorm cropped up. That's my vote, anyway: rest nearer to Dawn, unless someone has the magic to make it safer out here."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mordred had seen Jack was still struggling with sand in her.. His? He was gonna finish that conversation later for sure. Walking over he had.. Awkwardly hovered his hands clearing his throat to announce himself. Offering Rethan or healing Tamara hadn't been quite as awkward so.. Why was this?
"Ahem... Need some help?"
He asked as he pointed his usual glare away, not that it mattered as she couldn't really see him anyway right? Still perhaps it was merely a social habit when one struggled with eye contact though.. Mordred hadn't normally struggled with such a thing. Mordred saw everyone's wounds and he hadn't felt as wishy washy as before.
"I think we should indeed take a break, many of us look in pretty rough shape. Just a short break to tend to our wounds before pushing onward."
Mordred had looked to the small Kobold, he still seemed puzzled by her stuttering but he hadn't minded it. He had nodded her way despite her idea differing from his own he didn't think it was unreasonable.
"Both sides have merits, I vote we rest here but if the vote takes us to the outskirts that plan has pro's and con's as well."
Sure he was bothered the kobold and him hadn't shared a mutual trust but he wasn't going to argue with her solely based off that. If anything he had offered her a small nod of reassurance to let her know the plan wasn't a poor one nor was it selfish. Mordred had looked over to Tamara glad his spell at worked but a bit upset he didn't have enough magic to heal them all.
"You all fought well in that last bout but she is right.. Those beast.. They can be much worse."
Nygil and Tamara seemed on for moving forward Mordred had nodded to them both. He was worried.. Nygil and Jack looked roughed up a bit. Jumble had voted to for heading to Dawn, Mordred would accept this course of action.
"If that is the case.. Let's head on shall we?"
Before heading off though he had looked over to Jack, he hadn't said a word instead rather he placed a hand on her shoulder as his hand began to glow. (Lay on hands 10HP) healing the bulk of her wounds.
"Are you doing better n-now? By the way I know you like the name Jack but.. Pronoun wise.. What do you prefer?"
Mordred had than walked over to Nygil placing a hand on him as well.
Cure Wounds

After that he had placed another hand on him for further healing (lay on hands 5HP.) Than he had walked over to the Kobold placing a hand on her own shoulder. (Lay on hands 7HP to get her to full.) Mordred had began to pant a bit from the back to back casting. He was out of magic and his healing magic was nearly depleted.
"Huff.. Is that better? I wish I could help everybody more I have two healing potions I managed to buy if anybody needs more medical aid."
With that Mordred had kept his blade and shield drawn ready to take point, he wasn't going to "lead" them but rather serve as vanguard for any further threats.
OOC He's offering Jack help action for the sand ^^
OOC I'm actually surprised the use of cantrip was allowed for the blinded action! XD I woulda understood a no in that situation xD But also I understand a yes too! (I'm always laid back either way haha)
"Shelter? I don't have any spells to help, but give me some wood and I can whip up a real nice lean-to for us to set up camp in." Jack chimes in, beginning to brush the sand from her eyes again. "If we go that route, of course."
Medicine no. 1: 13
For some reason, she can't get the sand out of her eyes, so she gladly accepts Mordred's help. "Oh yeah, that would be great! Seems like I can't really do this myself too well..." She lets him help, however he can, and continues trying to rub her eyes clean.
Medicine no 2: 18 (with adv)
That seems to do something, though there were still those last few grains that kept her from being able to open her eyes. "Thanks. There's still a little inside my eye, but that helped a lot."
She jumps a little feeling Modred's hand on her shoulder, but quickly eases as she realized he's healing her. A sigh of relief escapes her lips as the stinging subsides. "Ah, that feels better. Thank you." She waits as he finishes his second question before responding, "I don't care. I change presentations too often to be picky about what I'm called. If it makes more sense to use 'she' when I present as a woman, and 'he' when I present as a man, that's alright. Or if you'd rather stick with one group of pronouns, that's alright too."
(ooc: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand it as:

"Oh! Hey, I feel great!" Nygil says, hopping a little on his injured foot as some of the pain subsided thank's to Jack and Mordred. "We should definitely press on. I don't think I like those sandstorms very much."
He flexes his hands a bit and then dusts some of the remaining sand out of his hair. "I...actually don't think I like sand very much either. It's okay when its on a beach...but a desert like this? Nah. I prefer nice hard ground...just plain old dust is better then this stuff." He kicks the sand a bit, sending up a small cloud.
"Alright...so...are we going?" He glances around, "Hmm...if, anyone needs a break. I can carry someone. That way we can keep going regardless." He says this with complete confidence in spite of his thin build.
With the majority of the group wishing to press onward, the party does just that. After you slowly trudge through the orange sand for a good while, the twilight starts to become brighter and brighter as you travel closer to Dawn. Eventually, you see the red walls of the great city peak over the horizon. From this distance, the city looks strikingly like Dusk, however, you know that it isn't. You traveled strait and true, this is your destination.
Soon the walls are looming above you and you are confronted by the castle gates. Every once in a while, you can see the flicker of flames as a watchman patrols the walls. You see no guards directly outside the gate.
"This looks like a good place to make camp," suggested Jumble. "We're near the gates if we need to find shelter. And who knows, if worms show up, maybe the guards will help out!" The bard smiled as he said it, but he turned and eyed the watchman nervously.
(( If anyone needs more healing than hit dice give you, Jumble will offer to cast Healing Word for them. Unless we want to take a long rest instead; not sure what all we'll be facing in the city. ))
That's no fair." Occassional Dungeon Master.
6 for pushing on; Nygil, Kashika, Tamara, Jumble, Mordred, and Rethan
2 for staying; Jack, Zalten)

Unless we want to take a long rest instead; not sure what all we'll be facing in the city. ))
