Duncan, hearing the woman approach selling wares, looks to Kas and says, "I've got these weapons from the raiders and assassin, see if you can get anything for them. I also could use some woodcarving, and carpenter's tools. Not sure if our miners need anything... Or if we missed anything when we ran from town..."
((@DM - I just remembered that Duncan also took the dagger from the assassin as we were leaving town. was there anything special about it?))
Kasbis comes forward to inspect the woman selling her wares. “Greetings. Yes, we would be delighted to look at what you have. There are a few things that we need. Where are you from, may I ask? Have you seen anyone else around in these parts? Do you come into this area regularly? We may need some supplies from you, from time to time.” Kas speaks in the most unctuous voice, interested in the wares, and information.
After that has been handled, Kas would help Duncan in his fortification and camouflage of the mine, trying to pile up sand along the edges to make it appear like a dune from a distance, and form a small opening as an entrance to the mine, but disguised as much as possible. He wouldn’t dirty his hands with the manual labor, but cast unseen servant repeatedly to give him magical assistance in the tasks.

"Ah, nice to me I am old Masha. I travel to many towns and villages. Now I warn you not to head to the Evenviel Enclave. There is some kind of trouble over there and the nobles with armed forced or harassing the folks over there. I ran out of there as soon as I could. I overheard they were looking from some kind of wood. I mean I know wood is scarce , but that is no way to treat people. Oh my, sorry for my rambling. Yes I can come here regularly as I can add it to my route. I truly do like those brave enough to brave the wilds to make a home."says old Masha in pleasant tone.
She opens her massive pack full of items. She then hands the party a bowling ball sized bell. "Here you can have a merchant bell. Now you can put this on your door or even a tree Just ring the bell hard if you need a merchant urgently. My son will come as quick as he can. Now down to business. Is there anything you need or do you have anything to sell?" says old Masha
“Do you have any woodcarving or carpenters tools? Anything that could help with construction, fortification. We want to keep things safe from desert winds and storms. By the way, these nobles and armed folk, did you find out who they were, did you see how many of them were there? Just curious. I’ve heard of the Evenviel Enclave, but I’ve never visited it myself. It might be nice to visit sometime, but we don’t want to be in danger, so I thank you for your warning. Duncan, Hrathen, can you think of anything else we need, or any other questions for Masha?”
Kasbis take the bell and finds a place to hang it, thanking her.

((@DM - I know Duncan had found some wood on their land. Is this enough that we might need to worry about armies invading here for it? Or is it more just enough to build what we need?))
"I'm sure more things will be needed as we start to work the land..."Duncan says thinking, "For now though... Masha... As the knight here said, do you happen to know the name of the nobles who are causing the trouble? And thank you for the warning, we'll be sure to be careful."
"Yes it was a noble and his name is Fen Theodin. Now what is strange was they were not after ordinary wood. I overheard some guards mention Chiracki wood. What ever that is. There were 10 armed men and women working for Theodin. Yes I have all the tools you need. That'll be 8 gp for any tool set." says old Masha.
(Reminder: crown made of Zamaruud Emeralds, mithril, Fayden stones, and wood of the Chiracki tree.)

“Here you are Masha, thank you for the equipment .. and the information.” He hands her 8 gold pieces to cover the cost of the equipment. He draws nearer to her and looks at her eye to eye, locking his eyes with hers in an almost mesmerizing gaze and speaks very clearly to her, saying “I would appreciate it my dear if you would keep our presence here confidential, just between you and me. We wish … privacy … as we begin and we don’t wish any outside intruders. Can you do that for me? Promise?” His yuan-ti eyes lock with hers, head on a similar eye level, with a friendly but firm expression on his face.

Taking the tools, Duncan thanks the old woman, and says, "I guess I should get to work covering up the mine, and working on my scout outpost. But I have a feeling we shouldn't stick around here too long... There are bigger things around."Then looking down to Shai says, "Let's go walk around boy. We'll get you some more salt, and maybe some more gems later!"
Kasbis generally holds his mouth closed, opening wide enough to speak with someone, eat, breathe, etc. But now that this trader tries to milk them for more gold, he opens his mouth fully, exposing his jaws and sharp pointed yuan-ti teeth and forked tongue to Old Masha, obviously irritated and angered by her attempt. A slight “Hsss” escapes initially, then he says “And there it is. Everyone is on the take. I think not.” His eyes are locked with hers, faces at similar level. He makes silvery slick sounds as he tells Masha, casting Suggestion on her, “You will tell no one that we are here. You will keep our presence secret, because you are kind. Yesss?” (DC 13 wisdom save). “Now leave.”

Duncan shows the miners how to hide and set up defenses should they need it, and is then ready to head off early the next morning. He knows they’ll need more people for their land anyway, and there is little else he can do for now with the small amount of resources available to him.
After the rest, Kasbis is ready to depart, leaving Willoughby and Ellesia working on the mine. He attempts to disguise himself, Hrathen and Duncan as much as he can to appear like desert nomads (which they have been, essentially). “Everyone ready? No use of magic, drawing attention to ourselves or fights unless absolutely necessary.”

What do you do next? Stay or intervene at Evenviel Enclave?
Hrathen speaks up saying "Going to the Evenviel Enclave sounds like a good idea. Saving the people could gain us allies."
