"Thanks Gwin..." Dabbert whispers when she gives him guidance, taking this as an all clear to try something stupid. He takes a deep breath, looks down, looks back up and around...and then goes for it, muttering a soft prayer as he goes. "Holy Tetrea, Spring Maiden's mercy...."
He goes up and through the hole, wrapping himself with his cloak as best he can and moving straight toward the single guard closest to him...

Will determine what Dabbert does depending how this goes...but the idea is to Grapple the target into submission...

As Dabbertmoves he assesses his surroundings, looking for a good place to go once he grabs the guard. Then, trying to capitalize on his speed and the element of surprise, he comes up behind the guard, throwing one arm around his neck and applying pressure while simultaneously using his hand to cover his nose and mouth...
I'm assuming I have Advantage from Stealth but if not we'll go with the first roll...

Athletics Check to Grapple (assumed advantage...)-23
(The guard automatically fails the grappling contest with Dabbert)
With assassin-like ease and grace, Dabbert brings the guard under his control and makes nearly no noise in the process. Dabbert and the grappled guard are approximately 90' from the remaining party members (who are in the tunnel). The nearest guards are nearly 200' distant and walking away from the party.
No initiative has been rolled; we're technically not in combat. That could change quickly, however, depending on what occurs with Dabbert and the guard. Updated map:
Gwin peaks out from the tunnel and can see that Dabbert has successfully wrestled the guard to the ground. Climbing back down the ladder a bit and using the mental link she asks, Well, lads? What now? Does Dabbert interrogate him alone and we wait? Do we go to him? Does he bring the guard back to us? I could send my eye back out while Dab has a little chat with the guard. Either way, we need to clear this room and see if the stones are here.
NOTE: The locate object spell remains in effect (for 10 minutes); therefore, Rogi would know that the Ioun stones appear to be on this particular floor to the northwest of the tunnel/shaft where the party members are currently located.

The fighter is surprised with the ease at which he takes his target. He curses a bit, in fact, a silent thing, under his breath. It seemed too simple...but then what was he expecting? If he'd expected any different he wouldn't have gone for the guy. He curses again, then musters his strength to begin dragging his target closer to the point of access, moving as silently and expeditiously as possible while looking around for unseen threats...
Dabbert Perception Check while moving back to the rest of his team...
Dabbertsets to the challenging task of dragging an unwilling creature approximately ninety feet.
Initially, the plan seems to be working; Dabbertdrags the guard 30' without incident; the guard seems resigned to his fate. What begins well, however, doesn't always end well. The guard's armor and exposed skin have succumbed to the strange curse that seems to have infected nearly everything on this island, making it difficult for Dabbert to keep a firm grip on his foe. The guard breaks free and draws his shortsword, readying himself for a fight.
The scuffle makes some noise, but it doesn't catch the attention of the two guards far to the west. They continue talking and walking away from the group. With any luck, they'll make their way around the corner soon.
All players may act. Dabbert and the guard are 60' directly north of the access shaft where the other party members are positioned. The guard used his action to break the grapple; so, he remains prone.

"I uh...please...just...you don't....fine..." Dabbert says, breaking away and rearing back as the Guard slips free. He brings his halberd to bear and begins wailing on the guard, doing as much non-lethal damage as possible as he uses the flat side of the weapon to try to beat him into submission or unconsciousness.
The guard is completely overwhelmed by the flurry of blows that nearly knock him senseless. Dropping his shortsword and covering his head with both hands. "It is enough," he says.

"Uh listen..." Dabbert says as he scrambles to the guard and beings looping rope out of his pack. "I uh...don't want to hurt you...but just because I don't doesn't mean I won't, you got it? Don't try any shit like that again. Hold still."
He pulls the banner tied around his upper arm free and stuffs it quickly into the guard's mouth before looping a short section around his head, part of in the guard's mouth, and then tying it off before tying the guard's hands behind his back. Dabbert then hauled him to his feet and looked around, making sure the coast was clear as he began to move again.
Dust, let me know if I need a roll for the rope and all that.

The guard is wholly compliant, and, for now, no one else appears in this area between Dabbert and the access tunnel where the rest of the party watches the goings-on in mild suspense.
We ought to take him through the tunnel. That way we can question him without alerting the others.Marlin silently motions to the tunnel, keeping a close eye on the other guards.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Dabbert nods at Marlin's recommendation, agreeing. As long as things look clear, he moves the two of them toward the tunnel as expediently as possible without alerting the other guards.
Dabbertushers the guard toward the ladder shaft, and moments later the two of them have joined Gwin, Rogi, Marlin, and Korba. The guard, clearly surprised by the presence of a group of infiltrators, asks, "How did you make it inside Cube 1717?"
"I'd rather not fight an army," Korba replies, adding to Gwin, "Is your eye still floating around?"

Marveling at his own stealth, Dabbert silently moves along the hallway and approaches the guard completely undetected...
Sadly, no. My concentration had to go toward other things during that last scrape, but we can definitely use it again when needed.
