The most you can discern is that the ship has been roughly bashed about.
Wolgar nods, "Aye, some beast by the looks of it. The ship will be staying at a distance, as to not piss it off by entering its territory. A couple of my crew shall row you all out there and wait near the ship. Should be easy to spot your lot on the top deck since well, there's nothing blocking the view of the top now."
The crew lets down the rowboat, joined by two sailors. The sailors row you all out towards the ship, easier to see that it has been bashed about like a bear attacked a carriage. The algae slick hull looms before you as the sailors take out a few grappling hooks,
"We'll row away after you all head up but we'll be close by to take you all back."
Barkas grabs hold of one of the ropes, casting guidance on himself and anyone else who needs it, and prepares to climb up to the deck of the ship. To the crew he says “Be at the ready, we may need to be getting out of here in a hurry.”

With some effort, the grappling hook latches onto the ship's rail, making it easy to scale the side of the ship. The Emperor’s upper decks slope gently down toward the ship’s port side. The forecastle and quarterdeck are empty, and short wooden stumps are all that remain of the ship’s masts. The double doors leading to cabins fore and aft appear intact, as does the metal grate in the deck that offers access to the lower decks. Aside from the rhythmic creak of the ship’s badly weathered timbers, all seems quiet.
Shafir takes the chance to cast detect magic. This ship is quite eerie and tenses expecting danger "I would like to cast a spell. It will take 10 minutes. Please warn me if something changes"

Barkas looks at the areas where the masts were, as well as the rest of the deck, trying to determine what could have snatched off the masts without destroying the ship. He looks for any unusual markings or evidence of what could have done this damage.

"Let's go find what we came for." Alabaster says. Despite the weirdly eerie atmosphere aboard the ship, it seems empty, no pirates or squatters. With no immediate danger that he can see, thinking the cargo box might be kept in the lower decks, he strides to open the metal grate that leads to the lower deck.
Naru walks on the deck, looking around, both anxious and in awe.
"This looks like the setup we made for the play Ghost Ships. I vividly remember a scene where a cable was taut between the masts and released, giving the audience the impression that it went through all the actors, cutting us in half. I was one of the ship's crew members. We had pouches of fake blood to be splattered everywhere on stage, but I got so into it that I showered mine on everyone in the first row. From their screams, I think they'll remember the scene as vividly as I do," he says with a smile.
"Except that now, there's no mast to do this, so I'm not worried about that particular scenario," he adds, sitting down on the deck. "I'm also going to cast a spell which will take about 10 minutes. Can you two keep an eye out for us?" he asks the two barbarians, before starting the incantation to cast Comprehend Languages as a ritual on himself.
Barkas sees several fist sized spiders scuttle about the walls of the hall. As the light starts to stream in through, the scurry away from it, blending back into the darkness.
Alabaster says to the others. "There's a ladder leading below decks. Something might be under here - if the chest is still on ship, that's probably where they kept it." And he starts climbing down the ladder.
As you head down the ladder, you notice another grate of sorts. Barkas you can tell that its in a poor state right now, enough so that just standing on it will cause it to break. You notice through the webs more doors as it seems the be the crew deck.

(Too far to actually detect any magic)
Shafir will wait to get on deck then to cast Detect Magic

Seems like it was the masts were crushed, telling by how the wood bent inward. And you find blood marred about ship, splatters of it here and there.

The metal grate has been rusted shut but can still be opened, albeit with some difficulty.
