Backstory : Kabis was born on the elemental plane of air, but has spent time traveling between the two as an adult of nearly 10 now. He finds riding the planes offers insights to truths of the world he may never have known without. He eventually found peace and joy in the Lord of Song, finding true beauty there. He has little gift for such himself, but he professes a great love for the arts and tries to dedicate himself to learning.
Why did your god choose you?: Despite his lacking skill, Milil recognized Kabis to be good, strong, and uniquely gifted to help in pushing back the darkness of Talos through the very portals of the Elemental Plain of Air. If he succeeds, he will bless Kabis with a gift for song that would allow his voice to match his heart.
Character Name: Kalindi Eilxidor Patron God: Amaunator Alignment: Lawful Neutral Race: Wood Elf Class/Subclass: Four Elements Monk (if multi is allowed then Monk 4/Light Cleric 2) Backstory: Originally born into a reclusive clan of forest elves residing in the Neverwinter Woods, Kalindi grew up surrounded by those who followed the elemental monastic tradition. Members of her clan focused primarily on becoming one with the elements of the Earth, some branching off into Air or Water elements, but few harnessing the element of Fire. Following the great destruction and relocation to Kryptgarden, Kalindi quickly took to learning how to align herself with the elements of the world. Her more studious nature, and odd affinity to the Air and Water planes, allowed her to surpass the expectations of fellow clan members, earning her the title of 'prodigy'. Unfortunately, her popularity amongst certain members of the clan led to jealousy within others who had banded together to plan an attack on Kalindi. This unexpected assault resulted in Kalindi leaving her clan, choosing to venture out and put her abilities to better use whilst orders within the clan were being reestablished. Why did your god choose you?: While out traveling through the various newly reconstructed towns, Kalindi's familiarity with an orderly society was challenged. The world outside of the small space of forest her clan occupied was very different, lacking the formality and structure that she had become accustomed to. She found great joy in helping these towns reestablish lawful order, eventually attracting the attention of Amaunator. As The Light of Law, he found her work with these struggling communities to be important to keeping to celestial order and blessed her with the powers of light. These new abilities have since help Kalindi push back the darkness that threatens the order of the realm.
Character Name: Vera Tamasvi Patron God: Milil Alignment: Neutral Good Race: Aasimar Class/Subclass: Fiend Warlock (if multi is allowed then Warlock 3/Valor Bard 3) Backstory: As a being a descends from Celestial origins, it comes as quite a shock that Vera has a fiend patron in addition to a patron of Light. Much of Vera's life can be summarized as a big contradiction, unbalanced from every aspect. From her name to her patrons, the Aasimar lives with an internal war raging inside of her. Originally born to a rather large family of performers, Vera traveled as a part of a moving circus of sorts, strumming merry tunes alongside the rest of siblings as her parents entertained small crowds in towns. The family quickly fell into struggling times as Talos wreaked havoc on the realm, not longer able to travel reliably into towns to perform or making a living off entertaining. Vera was the youngest of her siblings that could actually leave the family, and thus chose to go in search of a way to sustain her family in this new and terrible world. Making a deal with a Pit Fiend probably wasn't the brightest choice on her end, but in her defense he had made great promises of power. In more recent years, Vera finds herself struggling to keep to her good nature whilst a devil whispers in her ear. Why did your god choose you?: Despite her unfortunate Fiend pact, Vera has continued to pursue her musical abilities and follow in her family's traditions. Her dedication to songs and speeches of good despite under the influence of a great evil drew the attention of Milil, The Lord of Song commending her diligence and creativity. Upon becoming a champion of Milil, the light and love for song within Vera continued to blossom. As she continues to fight an internal battle of good against evil, she also continues to wander the torn lands in hopes of offering inspiration to weary travelers and combating the true darkness that exists outside of herself.
A sheet will be made if one of the character ideas is chosen! Thanks for the consideration!
Character Name: Penarith Ignus(Pen) Patron God Sune, goddess of love and beauty Alignment: Lawful Good Race: Fire Genasi Class/Subclass Cleric/Light Domain Backstory: Pen lived a life of luxury before the catastrophic destruction of Neverwinter. In one fell swoop she lost her family, home, and views on the world as a whole. As an acolyte of Sune, the goddess of love and beauty, she believed in only the most shallow forms of beauty. Following the destruction of Neverwinter she got a glimpse at what real beauty and love is as refugees both poor and rich, ugly and beautiful, old and young bound together to survive. She now charges into the fray vowing to do everything she can to thwart the Cults of Talos and reclaim what’s left of her home. Why did your god choose you?: As an acolyte of Sune Pen thought of herself as one of her goddesses highest acolytes yet her goddess never acknowledged her. Pen proved herself as she help many refugees escape the wrath of the waters and winds that scoured Neverwinter even as her heart shattered at the loss of her family. She could have lost herself in despair but instead chose to fight. She chose to forge a new form of beauty into the world, one of hope and defiance, a beauty of flame. Character Name: Effigy Patron God: Kossuth Alignment: Neutral Race: Hill Dwarf Class/Subclass: Cleric (Light) Backstory: The dwarf named Branbold was born into the Coalheart clan, an insular cavern community whose talent for metalworking was legendary, even by dwarven standards. The secret of their brilliance lay in the Dragon's Lung, an enormous, enchanted furnace kept eternally roaring by the anger of a fire elemental, imprisoned within the rune-etched stone.
When Talos' encroaching marauders stood poised to drown the caverns and slaughter everyone within, Branbold urged the clan to escape and seek assistance from the surface. The chieftain refused; at the founding of Clan Coalheart, its progenitors had sworn upon Moradin himself to keep the secret of the Dragon's Lung and guard it for eternity, a pledge that yet bound every Coalheart to their ancestral home. In defiance, Branbold persisted in gathering his clanmates for evacuation, proclaiming that if Moradin would command so much sacrifice in the name of an oath sworn by long-dead dwarves, he never deserved their devotion to begin with. Enraged at Branbold's blasphemy, the chieftain threw him into the Dragon's Lung, damning him and his very memory to ash...
Why did your god choose you?: ...or so he thought. Instead, the elemental seized its one chance at freedom in millenia and bound itself to Branbold's body, protecting his vitals from the flames even as they scorched his flesh. The invaders came soon afterwards and wrote in blood the final chapter in Clan Coalheart's history, but when they found the charred shape of a dwarven man strewn in the furnace's dying embers, they left him untouched, taking him for dead already.
Days later, something that was not Branbold waded out of the sodden ruins, into the Storm Lord's dystopia. As he gazed over the cliffside, he heard a voice like fulminating fire speak to his soul, bidding him to witness the ravages of air and water left unchecked, demanding that this outrageous trespass be answered. The burnt creature, who now calls himself Effigy, searched within his smoke-stained heart and found neither the will nor the want to refuse.
Character Name: Percival Getridge Patron God (Choose any Forgotten Realms diety of Light other than Lathander - gods and their domains can be found in Appendix B in the PHB): Sune Alignment: Chaotic Good Race: Lightfoot Halfling Class/Subclass (Could be Light Domain cleric or anything that you feel thematically fits a champion of a god of Light!) : Rogue Thief Backstory (before becoming your god's champion, 3-5 sentences): Percy loved the finer things in life but because he was not born to riches he found that these things were mostly beyond his grasp as a young Halfling. He always disliked that the rich hoarded such items away from the likes of him. And so he found ways to part the rich from such items, even for a short time. This usually involved some kind of ploy that he was a disinherited noble who needed funds to reclaim his title. Why did your god choose you?: Sune is fed up of the grotesque reality that now consumes the realm and chose Percival to help because of his more subtle methods and ability to recover some of the nicer items of the realm. Percival is not so sure though… Character Sheet Link: https://ddb.ac/characters/89696531/fXjOMR
Hey all! Thank you so much for so many wonderful applications! I'm glad to see there is so much interest in joining the campaign!
I do want to note though that I am seeing a lot of characters that don't fit the requirements, so please double-check that your character does! I'm not going to go case by case, but here are a few of the issues I've seen multiple times that you may want to check for:
Your character's patron god has to be Light diety of the Forgotten Realms pantheon (I'll also allow a god of Light listed under the "Nonhuman Dieties" section of the gods list in the PHB if your character is of a race that would worship that god)
All content has to come from the Basic Rules, PHB, DMG, or Elemental Evil Player's Companion, including your spell lists
Be sure to include a character sheet link!
There's still likely plently of time before the current combat ends and I pick someone, so you've got time to make any changes you need to make before then or apply if you are thinking of doing so and haven’t yet! I'll look over all of them again when its time to select and pick from among those that fit the requirements
Class/Subclass: Cleric (Light Domain) (If multiclass avaible, and possible, she will multiclass Cleric (light domain) 4 / Paladin 2 ( devotion on next lvl)
Backstory: Raised between Baldur's gate (were her family is from) and Neverwinter, due to her family business there she deeply felt the fall of the city when the Cult of Talos released the tempest wrath God upon the world. She aided refugees to reach the relatively safety of Baldurs Gate and other cities in the south but it wasn't enough. She prayed and prayed and the God answered, telling her that she will be tested. She was and passed. Now, she has been set on the path she had prayed for, to throw Talos away from Toeril and to destroy its Cult.
Why did your god choose you?: Devotion and willingness to put herself in danger to protect others. Helm had made his choice long before she kneeled at the temple in Baldur's Gate, still he tested her. She overcame the test by her force of will and commitment.

Hey everyone! The current combat is still wrapping up and it could still be a little bit before it ends, but given that there haven't been any more applications recently I'm going to say it's about time to wrap this recruitment up! I'm going to leave applications open until December 20th at Midnight EST, which is a bit less than 22 hours from now.
At that time, I'll take one last look through the applications and pick someone! For everyone who's already applied, make to make any needed changes to your character so that they fit the requirements! I'll only be considering characters that do!
Also, given the current combat is not yet complete, keep in mind that for whoever is picked, it will likely be a bit between when you are chosen and when you are introduced to the campaign
