"Good day Gents! My name is Brix Philbin and I am a curator of fine libations. I have made a wager with our server over there and if you care too, I have an offer for you. Try my families distilled spirits and see if you like it better than the tasteless drink being served." He sets the bottle down on the table.
Dolmek claps Brix on the shoulder, quickly takes a large swallow. “This is not good.” His face is red sweat is beading over his brow. “But I’m glad your here.”
Casrian stands with his tankard of ale raised. "A toast: to new friends, new dangers, and new money! *cheers and sips*"
The rogue excuses himself from the table and steps over to the tavern keeper and says, "Pardon me, sir, but my friends and I have a wager. They said you wouldn't know anything about the legendary 'Circle of Stones', but I said a well-informed gentleman such as yourself MUST have hundreds of stories to share about it. Have you heard tell of such a place?"
Norr coughs and splutters on tasting the firewater. While the Circle of Stone is being discussed he is tearing chunks of bread and cheese free and putting them in his mouth, not chewing, but just filling up all the space in his mouth — wherever the alcohol has touched.
His eyes water.
He turns a teary gaze toward Casrian as he steps over to the tavern keeper, swallowing as he does so. He calls out, far louder than needed, so that the owner can hear,
”Fine spirit seller, Master Philbin. Your firewater hits the spot. I mean it really hits the spot, it punches it, it clubs it with a mace.”
“Any connoisseur worth his still would recognise this as a premium and covetable drink, worth foregoing other taverns if they might find firewater at The Stone Giant inn.”
Once the sampling has been completed and the reviews are in Brix can see he's overplayed his hand. Dejected, he hands over the bottle to the bartender. "Bah! Must be the non gnome pallets." he grumbles. Shuffling back to the groups table, head hung low. "Well seems I'm looking for a job. You fellas mind if I tag along to this ring o' rock. I promise I know a few tricks that could be of help.'
“Circle of Stone... Corra city... Acolyte Alexander. Norr, Leo, Brix, Lord Casrian we must see this Circle of Stone... Moradin help Me find an heir ‘hic’ it’s my birthday...” after about 4-6 drinks Dolmek is feeling pretty hazy, but his face has a contented smile.
After a while an odd looking pale dwarf comes over to Dolmek, whispers in his ear. Dolmek nods several times. He looks to the group which has gathered, “Friends my advisor tells me I need a rest a chance to compose myself. I only have one birthday wish I would see this Circle of Stone, Thank you all, I’ll return here soon.”
As you watch Dolmek seems much older his pale dwarf friend is speaking to him supporting him as they head for Dolmek’s accommodations.
(OOC sorry if I’m assuming to much just figured a tavern scene set the time around evening or so... if we’re jumping right in just suggest it an Dolmek’s advisor will turn him around! Ha very fun beginning.)
Norr watches Dolmek be led away by the attendant. “Till we meet again!” He looks at the two drinks he has consumed in the time it has taken the dwarf to drink six.
“Well, I suppose he has no need for a valet on the road,” he mutters, “but perhaps the others.” The golden eyed half-elf turns back to Alexander, the priest of Bahamut.
”Coin you mentioned, but there are other things that might help us too, in a mission to we know not where. Food, rations, adventuring gear? These are things you might offer more easily or be able to point us toward. In this weather, a barrel of rations and a barrel of water will do me more good than a bag of silver. Can you provide?”
To the down in the mouth Gnomish merchant, Norr grins. “I’ve no objections to anyone who knows a trick or two. Join us a while and maybe we can work on your stock too. There’s more than one way to skin a gnoll, and it might be that I have some ways to charm that’ll get you your gold, and all your alcohol sold.”
((What season is it? If we do end up in the countryside?))

“Why wait?” asks Norr. “I feel our friend Casrian is a little more connected than the rest of us. Let’s see what he can find out.
“For myself, another night in a common room’s nook until the inn keeper either kicks me out or charges me is unappealing. Unless, perhaps… do one of you have an unused couch, or a soft floor in your lodgings?”

"Nah, my place is too small for any guests. I say tomorrow because our birthday boy is already turning in for the night, but I guess that we could learn a bit of info from the barkeep before that."

The bartender furrows his brows, and shakes his head. "Nope, never heard of it."
Alexander shrugs and says "I can give you no further assistance. I must be off now, to do... things.". He stands up and leaves the tavern.
Leo tries to say goodbye, but doesn't get the chance before he leaves the tavern
“Now, never call me a good judge of character, but did you feel at all that there was something not quite on the up and up with that guy? I feel, if we get the chance to find anything more about the god he serves, and the way he serves him, we should take the opportunity.”
(Norr waits for whatever Casrian finds out or does. If it’s not much, he retires to the bathroom to hide. An Irish goodbye, he doesn’t draw attention to his leaving. He doesn’t appear to come out again that night that anyone notices.)
