How is dex used to kick a chest open? He's trying to muscle this one, not finesse it

And how is a spell cast faster than the javelin can be thrown? 

RAW is that a person can technically throw, draw, and throw again in the same time to cast the spell.

Not trying to be a jerk, just saying it's not consistent with the rules. Would a bit of retcon be appropriate?

 I was following what it says in the book I saw that you did not want to pick the lock so I gave the chest a DC so you could beat it open, but if you want to quit sure it would be a loss to lose a chacracter

If you guys want to quit you can but I could also re-open recruitment
