You've been traveling along the Highroad for days. As evening approaches, you spot a wooden signpost next to a trail that heads north into the hills. Nailed to the post are three arrow-shaped signs. The two marked "Waterdeep" and "Daggerford" follow the High road but point opposite directions. The third, Marked "nightstone" beckons you to follow the trail. If memory serves, Nightstone is roughly ten miles up the trail.
*Is there anything you would like to do before you reach Nightstone? Also tell everybody why your characters are here.*
Thorin takes a moment an utters a prayer to Moradin, and invokes Blessing of the Forge on his armor (+1 AC).
"Nightstone eh? Maybe they need a journeyman smith? B'sides, we best get in before it gets too dark. I've heard rumbling of Giant raids from my friends in Neverwinter; wouldn't do to be out if we can help it. Maybe they need a journeyman smith here
First the business with the dragons and now this? It ain't right- like a quench gone bad. Worlds going sideways, best see if we can find some imperfections an' hammer 'em out.
No offense to the half-giant. What was yer name again fella? First rounds on me at the pub. "

Nereus does not like the air. He misses the closeness of the sea, like a blanket that wraps around him, enveloping him. Even moving here above the sea level, as the land walkers call it, feels different, clumsy, heavy. And his long green hair, that usually flowed in the current of the water now had to be tied back from his face. But, he does where he must. Long has he defended the sea, defending it from threats both above and below since he was a boy, mostly sahuagin and pirates, and usually with the help of others. The priests of his people, of Persana spoke of a vision of thunder that threatened to cleave the world in two. The next threat to all life they said was above the sea, and just as they had come from the Water Plane long ago to protect the world from evil, as their creation myth said, so too must they now rise above the water, and protect both. It did not matter if Nereus himself believed the visions. It was just enough that those who would send him believed the priests, and so he went.
He went, but he does not have to like it. He does the next best thing he can, drinking some of his waterskin, and pouring a little over his face, savouring the feeling for a moment, before continuing on to Nightstone.
Gramiz is a young man in a thick, lined coat with very comfortable pants and shoes. His hair is thick, wild blonde curls with a face that has never seen a whisker. He's loaded up with bags and an eye for profit.
He points at the signpost.
"Ah, hear we are. Nightstone. My mistress informed me that this would be an excellent place to start looking. Although I admit, she sounded a bit like maybe she just wanted me to get out..."
Jørn inhale deeply while looking around. the chill wind blowing down from the high frozen peaks reminds him that the place where he belongs are not that far away. He feel comfortable in the wilderness, although he still have to adapt to the atmosphere of the lowlands (as he calls everything below six-thousand feet high). One month has passed from the day he left. The old Gauthak, the sage of his tribe, spoke clearly: the equilibrium is wavering. The Giants are in turmoil. According to the myths of his folk, all ages are shaped by the clash between Giants and Dragons; Ulan-bathok they call it. A new clash means the end of an age and the beginning of another. The tribe must know and being prepared to survive in the case. For that reason some of the youngest and bravest Goliaths of his tribe have left to investigate. His intuition lead him toward the closest city of men: Nightstone.
To whom might travel whit him, he appears as quite impressive fellow: very tall and bulky Goliath, bald and his pale skin is crowded with tribal tattoos, some are geometrical, others seems to tell stories, all along his limbs and his back, he dresses in fur, and rusty axe lies on his back. He carries a bagpipe, probably made out of the skin of a mountain goat, on his right side.
"Nightstone" he mumbles "I have a feeling about it, although I have never been in an actual city on men before"
*We can work our final player in if they decide to join. Extra rule: please use the forum dice roller*
After following the trail for ten miles, you here the ringing of a bell. The sound grows louder as Nightstone comes into view. A river flows around the settlement (Something Nereus imediatly notices), forming a moat. The village itself is contained with a wooden pallisade, beyond which you see a windmill, a tall steeple, and the High-pitched rooftops of several buildings. Apart from the ringing of the bell, you detect no other activity in the village. The trail ends before a lowered drawbridge that spans the moat. Beyond the drawbridge, two stone towers watchtowers flank an open gap in the palisade. South of the village and surrounded by the river moat is a Cone-shaped, Flat-topped hill on which stands a stone keep enclosed by a wooden wall. The keep, which overlooks the village, has partially collapsed. A wooden bridge that once connected the keep to the village has also partially collapsed.
"I'm not use to dwell in towns but this place looks like it has been sieged or something, doesn't it?" he looks toward his comrades "are you guys a towns-folks? Anyway, better taking a close look". The Goliath then start approaching the town gates, Instinctively he puts his cloak over his head in order to disguise himself as regular human wanderer. While approaching he tries to glimpse the presence of sentinels or other inhabitants.
occ: I have used point buy for character sheet as default option, is that how we are gonna play or do you prefer rolling? Also let me know if there are any home-brew rules we should use of if there is any restriction
The sound of the river draws Nereus. It was not the great calm of the ocean, or the roaring squall of the waves, but it was water, flowing like life, and it comforts him, here in this strange place above land. Even the land walkers drew on the water for their defenses, understanding it's inherent strength. He considers hoping over and just jumping into the river, but that probably wasn't wise. By the looks of it, this village has seen better days. The tower and the bridge have both been given over to ruin, and unlike the river that stills flows with life, this settlement seems deathly still. He has no idea what the ringing of that bell could mean, but some of his companions on the road sounded concerned.
Nereus shakes his head at the townsfolk question. "This is new to me as well, but I expected more people at least...has this place been abandoned?" But the blonde man was correct. If everyone had packed up and left, then who was ringing that bell? He follows the others, cautiously.

"By Moradins Beard! Damn longshanks, no respect for a dwarf's conservative stride!
Steel warps, walls breach, and stones crack. But flesh endures!"
