Sabynn nods and pats Swan's shoulder, relieved the warrior managed to convince the family to come with them. The white-haired elven maiden then turns to scout their planned path towards the keep, letting Tyto take point again, Y'landrothiel taking to the air to watch for threats, particularly where that dragon is at the moment.
The dragon circles lazily above the town. His wings move slowly, as if he wanted to conserve energy...
The keep is directly in front of you, on a small raise, giving the guards a great vantage point on the surrounding area. If the wind moves smoke, you can easily see for burning torches on the top of the tower and the walls.

"I don't care, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me..."
Swan's heart raced as Sabynn’s delicate fingers made contact with her shoulder, sending a jolt of comfort and reassurance through her. She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, feeling the weight of the responsibility on her shoulders lift a little. She turns to Sabynn and offers a small, grateful smile.
"Thank you," Swan says softly, feeling blessed to have such friends by her side, "I'm glad they've decided to come with us. It was the right thing to do, and I couldn't have done it without you."
She takes a moment to glance back at the family, watching as they gather their belongings and leave the burning house behind. “We’ll go to the keep. It’ll be safer there.”
"Me? I..."The white-haired elven maiden starts with a slight blush as blonde warrior smiles at her. "...I'm not so good with people." She says, her silvery eyes briefly staying with Swan's amber before breaking away, her heart fluttering as she hurries away, trying to focus on the mission and scouting the surroundings, briefly glancing back at Swan with a shy smile before motioning for the Tyto to move on towards the keep.
Narr stands aside as the group gathers. Counting heads to be sure they leave no one behind.
"There's fourrteen of us now."
He says to no one in particular.
"No more sneaking arround. Not anymore. We need ta break for tha keep once tha drragon moves away. We'll have ta be quick."
He gives Cuth a look both sympathetic and doubtful. Care in his eyes.
"Tha' leg jus' won't do, Lad. Let me take another look at it beforre we move."
Narr gently unwraps the bandage that Cerau had so caringly applied. The wound, now exposed, slowly leaks thick blood that trickles down Cuth's leg. Narr places his hand over the injury and mumbles a quiet prayer. A golden light appears, glowing warmly beneath Narr's hand. The wound begins to knit itself closed before your eyes.
(OOC I'm gonna waste a spell slot on an NPC because that's what a lawful good cleric would do. Plus he'll slow us down.
Cerau straps her mace back to her back and scoops up the same small child she had been carrying for the journey so far. She checks over the child to make sure that they haven't been hurt and will use Mending on any torn clothes to help the child feel safe and cared for. She smiles at them reassuringly before turning her gaze to the rest of the party, catching Sabynn blushing.
OCC: Cerau would like to try and determine why the shy elf is blushing - is she uncomfortable with the thanks? Insight23
Cerau takes the bandages from Narr nodding at the dwarf. "Thanks Narr, I'm glad there is more than one of us here with healing abilities." She tries to roll the 'R' in his name as she had heard him do earlier but the breathy lilting pattern of her voice is a far cry from the dwarf's own speech pattern. She smiles sheepishly at her attempt and then says to the child in her arms, "Your father's leg looks much better, thanks Mister Narr." Nodding in thanks again to Narr, she stands up. "Now we can speed along to safety," she adds with a laugh - trying to keep the children's morale up.

As the children and their mother exit the house, they spot the Swift's family and with sight of relief they hug each other. You can hear various sentences from the adults and children mixed up spoken almost at the same time: "Are you all right?", "Yes...", "How did this happen...", "Have you seen the dragon?", "They attacked us, the lizard men..", "Did you get the warning?", "And they killed it", "Over there, by the bend..."
With healing done Cuth speaks with visible sign of relief "Thank you master dwarf." and reaches his family. "We need to go... The keep is very close, but keep quiet kids."
As Cerau takes a look at Swan's and Sabynn's interaction you can read the white-haired elf quite well. At one point she is a bit shy and definitely surprised with Swan's approach. Perhaps she is not accustomed to such words of appreciation. For sure she is not faking anything and her reaction looks genuine.
(OOG - The onsight check was well rolled, but I am not sure how well I described Sabynn's reaction. Oberon, fell free to add to this whatever you'd like)
You follow the banks down the stream. After a while, the stream starts to bend and in front of you you can see the towering keep. From this side you can see the walls and a slightly taller tower. The walls are about twenty five, perhaps thirty feet tall. The tower is about one level higher. It's a formidable structure - at least in comparison to the town.
The Sabynn's owl circles above you. The closer you are to the keep, the more disturbed she is.
Suddenly, on your left you can see a shadow in the smoke a huge snout and monstrous wings pass through it. The smoke twirls behind the beast as he roars gliding very low - on the level of the keep's tower perhaps.
(Everyone please make DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute).
The dragon flies directly above you as its roar fills your ears and makes your legs bend. The children start to cry. The adults try to cover their ears as well as to hold the children. One of the boys covers his little sister with his own body...

Sabynn Wis save: 13
Sabynn instinctively hurries over to the children as the dragon passes over the keep, motioning for them all to stay down.
(OOC: Well, not sure I have anything to add to what Li explained, don't think Sabynn quite knows herself what she thinks of Swan and she hasn't quite the time to sort that out for herself just now I think, we'll see what happens ;-)
“But you’re an excellent shot.” Swan says genuinely. She’s always known that elves are trained in archery from a young age, but watching Sabynn's precision still left her impressed. The way Sabynn handled the bow was like a graceful dance, every move fluid and effortless. She also doesn’t think Sabynn is so bad with people, at least she always feels calm around her.
The sound of the dragon's roar reverberates through the sky, shaking the ground beneath Swan's feet. Its deafening cry echoes through the air like a thunderous clap, causing Swan's ears to ring and her heart to race as if it might burst from her chest. She feels the vibrations of its voice inside her bones, as if the dragon's very presence is shaking her to her core.
Swan grips her spear tightly, her knuckles turning white with the effort. She forces herself to look up at the looming form of the dragon, her blond hair whipping around her face in the wind like a banner of defiance against the creature's might. She wants to carve this moment into her memory, to remember the fear and vow to become strong enough to face such a formidable foe.
She had read volumes about dragons and the fear they spread, and yet this did nothing to prepare her for blood chilling terror the white-haired elven maiden now felt, finding herself seeking protection by her beacon of hope and defiance, kneeling by the blonde warrior, praying silently to the Seldarine that the dragon would not see them.
After the fight with the Drake Tyto's expression turns gloomy and he becomes rather quiet - only as Narr unwraps Cuth's bandages and begins to heal his injured leg, Tyto can't help but smile at his good deed.
This one's the kind of person who would plant a tree even if he could never sit in its shade - that's rare with city folk. He sure doesn't talk a lot but perhaps there's something I can learn from him if I listen hard enough...
With a new sense of companionship, Tyto continues towards the keep - when suddenly the dragon breaks through the smoke, and flies directly above the group, his roar booming through the air.
As the dragon's ferocious roar resounds just yards above Tyto's head, it fills every nook and cranny of his body with fear. He immediately cowers, trying to appear as small as possible.
The low flying dragon was a breaking point. Most of you simply drop to the ground trembling with the gut twisting roar of the flying beast. Even the grass looked as if trying to hide from this monstrosity. Narr stood up looking at the beast. Not without fear or respect, but with an anger perhaps... It must be true what they say about the dwarven folk - that the only thing to truly scare them is the empty keg of ale...
Some of you had a chance to see the incoming beast and Swan, who stood up with her spear and took a few steps towards the creature. She stood as a rock against the incoming wave of dread and teeth. Tracing it's movement through the sky with short, efficient head movements she didn't even flinch.
As the dragon flew above, you could feel the sudden gust of wind from its wings that bend the bushes and grass to the ground and gave a brief impression the beast was landing, however it was gone as the roar was heard farther away.
After a moment, the cry of the children was the only thing that was heard. When you looked up, you could see Narr and Swan standing and looking at the twirling smoke in the distance.
""Was that... a dragon?" one of the boys ask helping his mother and crying little sister to get up.
You are at the bend of the stream (Location 1). To reach the base of the hill you need to cross the water and to climb a few feet of the gravel covered stream bed. The hill, where the keep is build is not steep, but very open and covered only with knee high grass. From the edge of the stream to the closest wall of the keep, you would have about a hundred feet (ca. 30 meters), but the entrance is not visible from your location. Based on the information from the families, you know it's on the opposite side.
Narr watches as the beast swoops overhead, holding back the panic that wants to lurch his heart into his throat. He swallows it down hard and squints his eyes against the dry wind.
The leather wrapped handle of his hammer squeaks in his tightening grip. If only he could knock the foul thing from the sky with one mighty blow. But that is not to be.
Narr spits in anger. Forgetting himself. He pauses then, drawing in a long breath and calms himself by muttering a quiet blessing on the group. Feeling centered again he prepares for the next step. Maybe the most dangerous leg yet. The dash out in the open.
"Take heart! Tha drragon has passed! Now is the time ta make our brreak fer tha keep."
He kneels next to older of the two brothers and places a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"Come now, laddie. On yer feet. Be brrave fer yer mother."
He whispers to him,
"Show them all yer courage. It'll sprread like wildfire."

The white-haired elven maiden smiles warmly over at the gentle dwarf helping the children. He was not at all how they were described in her books, and seemed different from the rather grumpy ones she had recently met in person. The others too seemed like good people, she had been quite fortunate to find these companions although the circumstances could have been better. As the team nears the keep, Sabynn sends Y'landrothiel ahead to see if the path is clear to the gate.
Swan's heart is still racing as she watches the dragon disappear into the distance. She can feel the adrenaline still pumping through her veins, and her grip on her spear tightens even more. She turns to face the group of people huddled by the stream, and she can see the fear and uncertainty on their faces.
She takes a deep breath, looking each person in the eyes, her voice strong and reassuring. "Yes, that was a dragon. But we're safe for now. It's gone." She pauses for a moment, taking in their expressions. "We need to keep moving,"she continues. "We can't stay out in the open like this. The keep is on the other side of the hill, and we need to get there as quickly and quietly as possible."
Swan moves to the edge of the stream, testing the depth and the strength of the current, trying to find a shadow part of the stream. "We'll cross here." She says to the others, "Let's help you and the children go first."
