Ori and Wilberforce ride the ferry over. On the way they spot fishing boats, the brass-faced building that must be the Brass Crab, and on a hill at Vogler's far side, the keep. They are let off at the wharf.
The woman gives a sad smile. "This is, and it will be. You must be Calitynia. I'm Yalme. Ispin told me to expect a young woman in knightly garb, before he... Well. Let me get you a key. I wouldn't dream of charging you to stay this night."
As squire Darrett leads the half-elf Daryan down to the village, he tells him about the Kingfisher Festival: about the games and the food and the battle reenactment, but also about the Battle of High Hill of which it commemorates. "It celebrates the victory of Solamnia against forces of Istar in a fight near the town," he explains. "Centuries ago. The battle reenactment has people taking sides as Istarian and Solamnic soldiers. It's really fun, you have a padded stick in place of a spear and you try to tap it against the people on the other side before they tap you. I hope you can stay for it after the funeral!" The two arrive at the Brass Crab after a short walk. "Lets get you hooked up with your room," Darrett says with a smile, going into the common room room with Daryan. Inside, Calitynia is talking with the proprietor. "Oh, Yalme's busy with someone... A knight, looks like! We'll have to wait our turn," he says.
"Sure, the reenactment sounds exciting, and I'm in no real hurry to get back to Kalaman anyway." Daryan says as they near the Brass Crab, nodding politely as he passes villagers. "Will you be joining the forces of Solamnia the I presume?" He adds with a curious smile.
As they enter the Brass Crab, the dark eyes of the white-haired half-elf immediately spot the Solamnic Knight by the proprietor. "Is that..Becky over there? I expected someone older and not quite so..." He blushes briefly at his own words. "A friend of Lord Becklin then I presume?" He continues in a lowered voice to the squire beside him. "Better let them finish their business, wouldn't want to be impolite to a Knight of Solamnia." He adds, winking at Darrett.
As Shagrin and Pelo crossed into town Shagrin reflected on how the simple act of inquiring into the dwarfs business had led to a conversation that reached well into the night. The pair had swapped stories of Ispin and when pressed, Shagrin finally shared the tale behind his ruined face and Ispins heroism during its creation. The two dwarves had become good acquaintances during the night and Shagrin could see why Ispin had liked the dwarf. So it felt natural to offer Pelo to take the lead when the two reached the.docks.
"Lead on my new friend and may your instincts steer us true."

Wilberforce looks at the bar across the street and says "Well lass, looks like we're here and I could do with a drink. Let's keep our eyes and ears open for any cloaked creatures, with shiny scales and sharp claws."
As he walks toward the Brass Crab, Wilberforce looks around for anything suspicious that could mean trouble for a Kender.
Assuming he doesn't accidentally fall off the wharf, there's really not much that could likely be trouble around Wilberforce and Ori. All around them are human villagers and fishers who seem friendly enough. There's also pair of dwarven men who seem to be trying to find their bearings. You can easily go enter the Brass Crab inn to inquire about rooms, and see if they have something to drink, though it's an inn not a tavern so expect the selection to be limited.
"Of course I'll be joining in on Solamnia's side, if they don't make me join Istar so they have a chance," Darrett says with a smile. When Daryan asks if Calitynia is a friend of Lady Becklin's, Darrett expresses uncertainty. "I haven't seen her before," he says. "I'd remember if I did." A pause. "Not because... I mean she is but... I just meant... Uh." He grimaces. "Sorry."
Pelo and Shagrin are on the wharf, close to the Brass Crab. Around them are fishers and other villagers. A pair of kender, an older man and a younger woman, just got off the ferry. The older kender is looking about nervously, though it's not clear what about.
Oblivious to the conversation behind her, Calitynia nods to the woman. "Yes, I am Calitynia Frostwind, Knight of the Crown." Her voice takes on a formal cadence. "Your offer is most gracious, but I can certainly make fair payment for the room. I would hate to inconvenience you on account of Ipsin's memorial. It is my honor to be here for him. I take it you knew him well?"
Wilberforce says "Careful of the wharf Ori lass, I don't like the look of it." . He feels pleased with himself for pointing out a potential danger. This may not be the wilds, but that doesn't mean he is completely useless. Danger averted he asks "What do you think lass, is this a good place for a drink or do you know somewhere better?"

"I am not particularly familiar with this area - but this looks to be as good a place as any!" Ori replies heartily. "It has been a while since I spent an extended period of time in a city like this. I just spent a couple months helping out on a farm! Adventuring life isn't always what it's cracked up to be..."
The white-haired half-elf nudges the squire beside him, smiling and winking at him. "Don't be sorry Darrett, now let's get ourselves something to drink and maybe we dare to talk to the knight with the long beautiful hair."
Wilberforce just smiles back and says 'Well lass, Trapsringer once said to me "If you did something new, met some good people and left the world a bit better, then that's an adventure in my book" and he should know. Personally I would prefer to help out honest folk on a farm then dine with some stuck up Knight going on about honour.'
Wilberforce starts walking towards the inn again and pronounces loudly 'Drinking here it is then, let us raise a mug to the Greenshield'

Peloraises his eyebrows when he hears the two kenders toasting his old friend. He was glad to hear from Shagrin that Ispin was the same cantankerous, kind, and generous man he remembered, even years after they had been friends. He turns to Shagrin and says, "Those two look to be exactly the sort of trouble Ispin ran with. How about we go join them in a toast to our legendary friend?" Smiling, he follows the kender into the inn, beckoning Shagrin to follow.
Wilberforce walks up to the bar, it isn't well stocked but he has simple tastes. 'Well this is where we were meant to meet' he thinks. He places 30 copper on the bar and announces to the room 'I'm here to raise a mug to The Greenshield. Who's with me!'

As Darrett hangs back despite Daryan's encouragement, a band of kender and dwarves suddenly enter the common room, cheering for their dearly departed Ispin Greenshield. The woman puts a key in Calitynia's hand, closing it with her own. "We can work out whether you pay another time," she says with a soft smile, before going to greet the new arrivals. "To the lovely Mr. Greenshield, rest his soul," she adds to their adulation. "It cheers my heart that he was, and is, so loved. The reception is not until after the funeral, but you may help yourselves to the punch out on the table," she says, gesturing to a table with a punch bowl and many small wooden cups.
Calitynia is left making a slightly discontented face as Yalme leaves her with the room key and no real resolution on payment. It was kidness, yet it bothered her to be dismissed so easily. However, there was no proper way to deal with it right this moment.
She had of course noticed the commotion from the dwarves and kender entering. And the shouts cheering Ipsin. 'I knew he must have met many people in his travels, but I didn't expect such boisterous celebration,' she thought.
Slowly she steps towards the room where they seemed to be gathered. Still dressed in her chain mail and carrying her glaive, she keeps to the edge of the room. Her blue eyes scan the group, curious as to how each, Yalme included, knew of Ipsin Greenshield.
Peloeyes the punch and small cups carefully. "Surely," he thinks, "this is some sort of joke. Just the sort of thing for that rapscallion to do. No ale at his wake!" Pelo walks up to the bar as well, placing three silver alongside Wilberforce's copper. "Another round from the sons of stone and road!" he calls. "Cheers for the Greenshield!"
'Greenshield' shouts Wilberforce once more. He then raises his mug to Ori, Shagrin, Pelo and the innkeeper before taking another long gulp. Addressing the dwarves he says 'Well met and thanks for thy hospitality. I'm Wilberforce, a guide working out of Kalaman, although the road is my true home.' He gestures towards Ori and asks 'Do you already know Ori, being friends with Ispin and all?'
