Back story: He grew up in a small village, with cooking as his hobby. One day a dragon Wyrmling attacked the village. He stood up to it, and helped it calm down. The dragon ran away. he then saw the carnage that the Dragon caused and knew that he couldn't let such things happen again! He then looked at the flying Dragon and knew that even the most violent people can be calmed down and lead to peace. He then took to his oath, began his Paladin training, and when he felt ready, went to Liams Hold as the first stop of the travels he plans to make to spread the peace he seeks to make.
Appearance: A small, yet well-postured Kobold with a face that radiates pure innocents. He is around average Kobold Height. His eyes are an aqua blue. He wears the finest chain-mail armor, Greatsword, and shield! His attire screams Paladin. His shield is marked with the symbol of piece! (Whatever it is according to the DM. If no such thing exists, we can discuss what it will be instead.)
Back story: When he was an infant, some drunk circus owners mistook him for an actual Silver Dragon Wyrmling and took him away from his real parents. He grew up in the circus thinking that the circus was where he was truly from. A close friend he made in the circus, a Leonin named Axole, found out of Axiris' past, and revealed it to him. He ran away. After a while of being out there on his own, he realized that he missed performing and that he had genuine fun with it. He didn't want to go back, however, so he took to being a traveling singer and perform on his own terms! He eventually discovered magic and how he could use magic through music! He decided to take adventuring as a side job to go with his entertaining arts. He is where the story starts because he has traveled there to perform and maybe find an adventuring job along the way.
Thanks for offering a place. It looks like you need a rogue. I present Yar the telepathic Ghostwise Halfling far from home.
Name: Yar Fastfoot
Race: Ghostwise Halfling
Class: Rogue (Heading towards Arcane Trickster)
Background: Far Traveler
Brief Backstory:
Yar does not have a name for where he comes from, to his people it was just the village. One of the countless halfling villages that dot Chondalwood forest in the Vilhon Reach.
All he knows is that one day they came for him and his. The collectors and experimenters had come to his village to capture a Ghostwise Halfling and learn the secrets of their Silent Speech. Yar would later learn the dread name of these invaders, the Zhentarim had come.
Mind screams and prayers to Sheela Peryroyl echoed around as the Zents scoured the village. Yar made his decision on instinct, as is his nature. He stood proudly in front of these invaders and spoke to them using their vocal sounds and screamed in their minds. He led them on a merry chase through the village and eventually he was captured. However he had achieved his objective and the rest of the village had escaped.
This wasn’t a complete sacrifice by Yar, who had never met a lock he couldn’t open.
Months of travel followed, Yar knew if he escaped too soon his enemies would return to the Chondalwood and he needed to give his clan time to move. He was put on a boat and almost had a panic attack when he saw the Sea of Fallen Stars, the endless water beyond anything that Yar had experienced before.
When Yar arrived in Berdusk the Zents started talking more about their destination, a fortress called Darkhold, and he knew that his window to escape was coming to an end. He opened his cage and escaped into the night.
With the help of a kindly stranger he made his way west, not wanting to lead the Zents back east towards his village, and his life as a rogue for hire began.
Constantly on the move Yar calls no place home. Over the years he has been to everywhere from Baldur's Gate to Daggerford. Yar stays in the shadows and steals what he must to survive, but he always tries to help those with less than himself. His telepathic warnings have started multiple ghost stories and the street urchins of Torm's Hand consider Yar a friendly spirit who looks after them from afar.
Yar now finds himself in Liam’s Hold, looking for ways to help and how to pay for his next meal.
Personality:
Yar stays in the shadows as much as possible and rarely uses his voice, preferring to use telepathy. Most of the time you are never sure where he actually is, but you feel he is always watching. As telepathy means that only his intended recipients can hear him, he is surprisingly open with those who win his trust.
Race: Tabaxi Class: Rogue Background: Tap (short for Tapdance of Raindrops) Brief Backstory: Tap has historically been a loner and a bit of a selfish person. He was always a big believer in "me first" and "five finger discount". This served him well, for a time, in the big bustling city of Baldur's Gate, where he could get away with something and then lay low until it blew over. But eventually his unlawful ways started to catch up to him. He had a couple of close calls, nearly landed himself in prison, and also nearly got himself beheaded. He escaped by the thinnest whisker of fate. Now he's on the road, leaving his past deeds in Baldur's Gate behind him. This solitary destinationless sojourn has given him a lot of time for introspection, and he's starting to see how his selfish ways may not have had the best results on his life. Normally he hates the rain, but today's showers seem to be washing away the old Tap. He's starting to feel like a fresh new person, a blank slate. He's ready to try something new! This is his mood when he comes across Liam's Hold and the Black Ford Adventuring Guild.
I'll also reapply. I do want to know if there was something you didn't like about my character so I can change it, and so I don't make the mistake again in future applications, thanks.
I like backstories that shows more about a character. Maybe a small quirk or a bond to a specific place or person. The more fleshed out a character the better. Although no one needs to write a novel.
The setting is Faerun on the sword coast. I like when people reference a place. Like growing up in Daggerford or a black market seller from Baldur's gate.
I'm Gwozlen Timberdarter, a centaur monk who was born into a nomadic tribe called Riverwind. I was always curious about the natural world, but I felt restless and wanted something more.
One day, I stumbled upon a group of monks who taught me martial arts and meditation. I spent years with them before leaving to explore the world and fight for justice.
I'm loyal to my tribe and value the guidance of the monks who taught me. I use my fists to defend the innocent and punish the guilty.
I'm Neutral Good and believe in doing what's right. But I also love a good adventure, challenge, and meal. My goal is to find harmony between my desires and the needs of the world.
Appearance: Basically, he's neat and tidy. Bottom half bronze horse, top half brown man. Wears an irregularly long leather coat. And I forgot to mention before, he has sandy blonde hair.
Name: Finley Stoneshaft Race: Mountain Dwarf Class: Artificer(Armorer, with a Wizard, possibly cleric. Multiclass) Background: Guild Artisan Brief Backstory: Finley was born in a place called Thornhold in the Sword Mountains to Norsin and Aradula Stoneshaft. Both were armorsmiths of a some reknown skill, at least around the hold, and it seemed he would continue that line of work alongside them.
As he grew older he started making adjustments to the armor here and there. He was constantly told to stick to the design and not to deviate, but he always wanted to push things a little further. Over the years he became obsessed with making the perfect set of armor. With every failure he grew agitated, until he realized it was the iron he worked with that was at fault.
He decided that it was best if he left his aging parents to go and find a material that would allow him to create his masterpiece. So he said his goodbyes and left with the first trade caravan to whatever adventures waited for him. Appearance: Finley
I have updated Yar’s background to include some details of Faerun, but overall it remains the same. I know that you didn’t explicitly ask me for this, but I had fun doing it anyway. I didn’t even add a priest of Finder, so overall I consider myself suitably restrained :-)
I don’t know any details of ‘The Wild Beyond the Witchlight’, but I understand that it’s very RP heavy which is fine with me. If you did want Yar to join your adventure I’m happy to read the backposts and introduce Yar in a way that is consistent with the Narrative. Given his secretive nature, maybe he has been with you all along. A helping hand from the shadows that you never even knew about. Maybe one of the characters has been secretly communicating with Yar and now asks him to reveal himself :-)
It's always a challenge to read-up on a campaign without encountering spoilers. From what little I have seen, this seems like a light-hearted campaign (although I could be completely wrong as I'm trying to avoid spoilers). If you don't think that Yar fits then I'm happy to create another character. Note that Yar isn't blood thirsty and is inquisitive, so he may be a good fit.
However you decide to proceed I had fun creating Yar, enjoy your adventures :-)
I'm in as a PC and ok with whatever.
Any character restriction? Level?
