Gan-re flying skills saves Val and helps her up a tree. Val takes half damage 6
Finley was able to speedily climb a nearby tree.
(OOC: Nice! Thanks or the assist, KW!)
Valrieth sputters, dripping with water, bruised but not too badly hurt. She finally calls up to Gan-Re, "Thank you so much, Gan-Re! That was some fantastic flying, but...oh!...maybe we could find a tree or boulder where you could set me down? I think that it may be time for me to try creating an ice raft."
"You are welcome my friend" Gan-Re looks to set Val down on a suitable surface and then flies a perimiator looking for trouble while Val creates the new raft.

"Glad ye're alright Lady Valrieth,"Finley says, his helm retreating back into the breastplate while holding tight to the tree. "Once ye get the raft created we can make sure those pieces of wood work for the paddlin'"
Valrieth tells Finley, "OK. But once I create a frozen block, it will flow away on the current." Val watches the water for a moment for any floating sticks or other debris that might show her which way the water is flowing. If there are any sturdy close to theirs with < 5 feet between the tree trunks, she breaks off a stick or leaf or some bark from close to where she's standing in the tree and tosses it into the water toward the gap between the trees to see whether the water is flowing transversely to the gap in the trees.
Val is trying to see whether the can create a 5' x 5' raft of ice in such a way that current and trees will prevent it from immediately floating away from them. If so, it shouldn't be too hard to keep the raft stuck on the trees long enough for Finley to climb down and get on the raft. (I guess Gan-Re could always pick up Val and fly her over to the raft, even as it drifts with the current.) If not, then it's going to require more coordination. For example, maybe they tie one end of the rope of climbing to the tree and then have Gan-Re land on the ice raft with the other end. They can then use the rope to "reel in" the raft, close to their tree trunk. Once Val and Finley are on the ice raft, they can use the rope's command word to untie it and let the ice raft start drifting with the current.
Val isn't sure what the limits of her shape water spell are. She has mostly used it for simple, small tasks in the past. She tells the others, "Give me a minute. I've never tried to create something this big or complex before. It may take me a few tries before I have something that we can use."
She tries to use this feature:
You cause the water to form into simple shapes and animate at your direction. This change lasts for 1 hour.
to first form the water form into the shape of crude boat with vertical sides 6-inches thick and an even thicker, curved bottom. Since that "animation" lasts for up to an hour, she could then use her next turn to cast the spell again and freeze just the animated water:
You cause the water to form into simple shapes and animate at your direction. This change lasts for 1 hour.
If that works, it'll make a boat out of ice with sides and a bottom at least 6" thick. That would keep them a little drier than a flat-topped raft.
If that's unsuccessful, she'll just dismiss those effects and instead create a big, flat block of ice 5' x 5' and 3' to 4' thick. That shape should be nice and stable and support at least Finley and Val.
If needed, she could create a second 5' x 5' section, but they would need to tie the two blocks together somehow to make a 10' x 5' raft. The larger raft would support all 3 of them.
While this is happening Gan-Re, content that he didn't see anything once more tries to gather some wood for arrows.
Survival: 5 (as ever, the bow continues its epic arch)
(OOC:
LOL! Dream the impossible dream: arrows. :-D
I guess that'll give Gan-Re some incentive to take on the brigands. If they have bows and arrows, maybe we could pick up some arrows there. And hopefully not just by collecting all of the arrows that were fired at the party!
Finley commands the Rope of Climbing to tie to the tree and holds the other end, "Alright, let's do it then, here Gan-Re my boy take the other end and land on the boat so it don't go floating away from us."He holds out the other end.
Yes he has the wings to always fly. Except after 8 hours as everyone would encounter exhaustion. Its already noon so everyone can keep on going for another 4 hours assuming everyone left Telemy hill at 8:00 am.
You also see leaves and other debris float by. The current is moving in a Southeasterly direction.
Once we're in the boat and untether the rope, that's going to be a problem. We're half-way from Telemy Hill to the Brigands' Tollway, but the current would take us to the southeast, away from the Brigands' Tollway. (Hopefully, the current doesn't take us anywhere too fast since it would be pretty bad to slam a boat made of ice into a rock. :-P)
Before Valrieth tries to get into the boat, she'll get out her star map and cast Guidance on herself, seeking guidance from the stars to guide their fate. She uses her spot from up in the tree to look around. She's looking for a hill or tower or any other location within view that they could row towards. She has the feeling that they're not very close to the Brigands' Tollway, yet, and she wonders whether they can row to a solid, dry location where they can rest and see whether the waters recede.
Once she's done looking around and since the boat is tethered to the tree, Val asks Gan-Re to fly up and carry her down into the boat. If the boat can hold the combined weight of both Val and Gan-Re, then she's more confident that it'll hold Finley and her without sinking. She hopes that Finley can use the knotted rope to climb down to the boat safely.

Water is quite deep as you cannot see the bottom so yes you won't be able to stand in the water. You are up a isolated tree.
Yep it would better to use a rope and freeze the water around it so it is anchored to the tree
You also see leaves and other debris float by. The current is moving in a Southeasterly direction.
Yes you can make a very small 5x5 boat more like a bucket.
Sure, but Finley and Val aren't quite so big. More like the other images in that post:
It'll be a tight fit, but the two of them could fit in a small 5' boat like this:

Yep Gan-re does not find any wood suitable for arrows.

Gan-Re takes the rope and lands on the boat. He isn’t really sure what is going on, but that's OK with him. The ice feels cold on his talons.

Okay the ice boat is now tethered by the rope keeping it from drifting too far away.
What do you do next.
“Well my friends. I’m not one for boats myself, but I would be happy to fly alongside as patrol or to pull you along.”
