(OOC: I'm not sure whether the characters know that the shares were shattered by a power in the wasps' nest.)
Valrieth is worried that the wasps might be disturbed by the commotion with the ruined stairs and attack them. She could drop into the lake, but that feels like giving up and starting over. On the other hand, she probably couldn't even cast a spell while clinging to the door like this. Val says over her shoulder to her friends, "I'm going to try to get inside. If it's empty like the room below, then maybe we can all find a way up here."
Trying to balance on the doorjamb, Val quietly turns the handle, opens the door, and steps inside, leaving the door opened behind her. (Stealth18, in case it matters after all of the noise they've made so far.)
If Val makes it inside, she quickly takes in the new location, deciding what to do next. (Perception14)

I'm not sure whether the characters know that the stairs were shattered by a power in the wasps' nest.
I mean, @weathervision shared this explanation: "The queen is no ordinary wasp and was commanded to guard this stairway by Bavlorna." But I don't think that the characters have any indication of that fact unless the wasps or the wasp queen said something that would indicate the queen's involvement.)
In this gore-spattered kitchen, a stout figure with a stained apron, iron boots, a crimson cap, and a bloody meat cleaver chases a pair of vultures around a butcher’s block while the squawking birds fight over a scrap of meat.
The butcher’s block is a slab of blood-encrusted wood that occupies the middle of the kitchen. Dirty cutlery and mismatched plates and pots balance in precarious piles in and around a wooden wash basin.

(OOC: Oh! So much for a quiet, deserted room!)
Valrieth is non-plussed by the scene in the room. She had expected to find a deserted room filled with clutter, like the ones downstairs. Or maybe even Bavlorna herself. She doesn't know what to make of this scene. Aware that her friends are probably still in danger below, she decides to determine whether anything here poses a threat as quickly as possible. And if things go badly, she figures that they could always just jump into the lake and try to row away in their boat.
Val says in a friendly but carrying voice, "Oh! Excuse me! Um...Hello?! I'm so sorry to barge in without knocking. I hope you don't mind! But the stairway outside broke behind me." Val waits half a moment, ready to defend herself or flee if the cleaver-wielding figure or the vultures attack her.
"Visitors here marvelous. Help me get rid of these vultures and I can help you" says the women in the red cap.
Surprised by this kind of hospitality from anyone in Bavlorna's hut, Valrieth calls down to Finley and Octavian. "Just a moment, Finley. I'll be right back once I help someone in here."
Val turns back into the room and, suppressing her nausea at the gore-spattered surroundings, she steps up to the block where the vultures are. Realizing that she still has speak with animals in effect, Val speaks to the vultures: "You two! Stop fighting, and give me that!" She hopes that they'll be surprised that they can understand her and tries to snatch the scrap that they've been fighting over. Sleight of Hand11
If she manages to get it from them, she asks the crimson-capped figure, "Can we give them this scrap to get them to leave?"
The vultures are less surprised but pause long enough for Val to steal the scrap of meat. "Nope that scrap of meat is going to be part of my meal. Now I ask the buzzards to buzz off and not linger here." she takes another strike at them, but they deftly dodge it.

Valrieth hands the woman the scrap, "OK. Hold on to this. My name is 'Val', by the way." She gives the woman a smile before turning to the vultures and saying, "Don't fight over little scraps! You can have an entirecarcass!", spreading her arms wide."Follow me! We'll show you."
Val walks from the butcher's block back to the door. She hopes that the vultures follow her to the door and that the wasps haven't been causing any more trouble. She looks out the door and looks for Finley and Octavian on the two remaining steps below.
(Assuming that they are still there and doing OK...)
Val says, "Oh, good! I'm glad you're safe! Listen, we need to show these vultures where to find the carcasses in that taxidermy room downstairs, and then we have someone up here who will help me get you two up to this room."
(OOC: to visualize the scene, note that the if the vultures land on the ground next to Val, they'd be nearly as tall as her, not counting her ears.)
The sound of a bigger meal instantly gets the attention of the vultures. So, they follow Val and fly down to where Finley is standing ready to follow him.
Finley’s eyes go wide at the sight of Val and the birds, “Oh, Ok, well ah don’t know if they understand me but ah could try and lead them to that room.”
Finley opens the door near him quietly and peers out to see if anyone is in the room.

After Finley opens the door and goes into B1 with the vultures, Valrieth turns back to the "stout figure with a stained apron, iron boots, a crimson cap, and a bloody meat cleaver" in B13. Val reminds herself not to judge a book by its cover -- the Trio has very few allies in Prismeer, so they could use all the help that they can get. She takes a deep breath, forces herself to smile, and tries again to introduce herself.
"Well! I don't think that the vultures will bother you for a while," Val says. "We haven't been properly introduced. My name is Val." She waits a moment to see whether the woman introduces herself.
Once introductions are over, Val says, "Unfortunately, the stairway outside that door collapsed, and I'd like my friends to join me here. They could probably climb up with our rope, but we'll need something sturdy to tie it to." She looks around the room. "What do you suggest?"
(OOC: can Val tell what type of creature this "woman" is? I mean, is it a human or dwarf or some some sort of fey?)
She is a Redcap who have a reputation of being relentless and vicious. Who are deadly in melee combat. She is small in size like a halfing version of a stout dwarf. Her muscles are well pronounced. Yes, she is fey.
"Nice to meet you I am Bloody Toes. Just throw me the rope and I can drag them up here. Now I have to asks are you friends of Bavlorna?" She still carries the meat cleaver.
Finley escorts the vultures, and they immediately begin feasting on that strange reptile you found. A moment later they suddenly turn to stone solid as a statue.
Finley throws out the Rope of Climbing and uses it to latch onto the first thing it finds and he grips the rope as the stairs go away, "Shite!"

The rope wraps around the bottom step that is still intact.
"Ah'm all right! We gotta get out of 'ere," Finley starts to climb up the rope towards Val and the door.

No, you do not know that the queen was the one to trigger the destruction of the stairs.
