B14 - is where the imprisoned food is kept. There is still 1 out there.
Valrieth makes a note not to barge into B10. But then...."Imprisoned foood?!", Valrieth says with surprise. She doesn't like the sound of that.
Val walks to that door and opens it slowly, looking out to see what's in the cages.
(OOC: in general, Val is trying to be quiet since they're so close to Bavlorna now. Let me know whether I should include stealth checks every time or whether I should just wait until you ask for one.)
Finley tugs at his beard, "It doesn't seem likely she'd have what we're here for anywhere but where she's at right now, everythin' else sounds like a place for drink or food. What do ye think Val? She keeps her trophies where she can taunt others with them?" He pauses, "What do ye mean imprisoned food? As in intelligent beings?"

"Everything is so cluttered here, we'll probably have to search everywhere to be sure," Valrieth with a hint of frustration. On top of the twisted nature of Bavlorna's hobbies, Val finds the clutter and disorder of the house vexing. "We never opened the cupboard downstairs in that room with the squeaky hinges, but maybe you're right. If the hag thinks of these things as trophies or 'treasures,' I bet that she keeps them in or near her bedroom or maybe on display in the room where she 'entertains' her guests."
Val opens the door to B14 and finds one of the cages occupied by a male Satyr who looks like they have given up hope.
Val puts her finger to her lips in a "hushing" gesture as she steps carefully onto the balcony, hoping that the satyr is smart enough not to make too much noise. She swings the door all the way open as she steps outside so that Finley and Octavian can see who's in the cage.
Val says, as quietly as she can without her ability to whisper, "Hello, who are you, and how did you come to be here?"
Val hopes that Bloody Toes won't prevent them from letting the "food" escape.
"I was captured by some Harengon brigands and now I am here. They even took my clothes" says the Satyr
"Oh!", Valrieth hops up and turns sideways, landing facing south. "Excuse me! Um...Finley, Octavian, there's a naked satyr here," she says, sounding a little flustered. "Agdon Longscarf's brigands caught him and brought him here to be Bavlorna's meal, apparently. Can you see whether there's a way to get him out of the cage while I look for something for him to wear?"
Val thinks of the dress dummies and bolts of cloth downstairs, but of course, the stairs have collapsed. She asks Bloody Toes, "I'm sorry, Bloody Toes, but we can't leave this satyr here for Bavlorna. Is there a robe or something in here that he can wear?" She looks around the kitchen, thinking that it's an unlikely place to find a garment.
"Ah dunnae know if'n ah can open th' cage or not, but my rope will allow us to get over to him. Ah'm not the most dextrous, even though ah do know how to use these tools. Ah know how to use a lot of tools though," Finley says, "The rope can latch onto the cage and something else up here to allow them to climb up easily."

(OOC: @Weathervision - can Finley reach the satyr's cage from the balcony? Or is there a way to reel in the cage so that it's over the balcony?)
Valrieth answers, still trying not to look directly at the naked satyr, "Well, it's worth a try. Unfortunately, I cannot help provide you guidance at the moment because I'm still focused on the other spell. Perhaps your other tools would help us break open the cage, but that would be too noisy to do here, wouldn't it? If we can't pick the lock, I guess we'd have to try to get the whole cage into the boat and take it back to shore to work on it there.. Unless....Bloody Toes! Do you know where the key is that unlocks those cages?"
Bloody toes shake her head "No clothes, but there is a room full of cloth downstairs."
"Yes, thank you," Val says. She considers going back down to the fabric room by herself while Finley and Octavian try to get the satyr out of the cage. She adjusts her belt and then pauses, looking down at her tabbard. Val smoothes the fabric for a moment as though she doesn't recognize the garment. Thinking for a moment, she finally remembers, "Oh! I still have my old robe." She removes her backpack and takes out her old, brown robe. It's singed and stained with mud, but it's still sturdy. Of course, the robe far too small for the satyr to wear, but Val takes out Sir Talavar's "dagger" and cuts it lengthwise. By turning it sideways and tying off the arms, it should work as a sort of crude kilt, about 20-inches long.
"Definitely too noisy ta do anythin' but lockpicking right now."Finley says, glancing down at the satyr and looking around for anything sturdy to have one end of the rope tie to it so he can lower the other to the cage. Once he notices a something he commands the rope to create knots for climbing and attaches it to something solid and then to the cage he carefully makes his way down to it. He says before getting too close to the cage, "Dunnae worry lad, ah'm gonna try ta get ye out of here." He grins as the lock pops open.
"Well we're gonna get back up this rope, give ye some clothes and hopefully get outta here without th' hag seein' us."Finley motions for the satyr to climb up first.

The Satyr climbs along the rope shakily and feels relief to be back on solid ground. He takes the offered modified robe from Val. He sticks to Finley like a loss puppy. "My name is Vansel and would very much like to leave this place."
The Satyr climbs along the rope shakily and feels relief to be back on solid ground. He takes the offered modified robe from Val. He sticks to Finley like a loss puppy. "My name is Vansel and would very much like to leave this place."
Now that Vansel is wearing the "kilt," Valrieth can finally look at him. She says, "Hello, Vansel! I'm glad we could help! Your rescuer's name is Finley" She gestures toward Finley, "Isn't he clever? My name is Valrieth; and the elf's name is Octavian."
Val walks back into the kitchen and closes the door to the balcony once everyone is inside. She says, "This here is Bloody Toes: she's Bavlorna's cook, but she's already been a great help to us. Thank you, Bloody Toes! We just plan to look around a little more today, but we'll come back tomorrow. Vansel, you can stick with us, but you don't have to return tomorrow. We can take you away with us in our boat when we leave today." Val explains that they're trying to avoid Bavlorna who is through the door to B10. If they stumble into Bavlorna and are attacked, Vansel can help them by running widdershins near Bavlorna. That'll give them their best chance of getting out alive.
The party has learned Bavlorna's weakness, but they're still looking for Clapperclaw's head, Octavian's heart, and any information about the "miniature versions of herself" that Bavlorna can create. Val reminds everyone to stay close to her so that she can help cloak them with pass without trace.
Val suggests that they use the same pattern that they did downstairs: continuing their search clockwise around this room. They entered through the door to B4, and they checked the balcony (B14). Therefore, they will continue their search by checking the hooch distillery (B17). That also seems safer since to Val since it's taking them farther away from Bavlorna.
A contraption made of entangled copper tubes connects to a pot-bellied boiler and a dozen cylindrical containers, which in turn sprout even more tubes that feed into buckets. Barrels are clustered in the southeast corner, and a worktable in one corner of the room has bits of copper and metalworking tools strewn across it. Light filters in through the green, diamond-shaped panes of glass set into the window.
The barrels are filled with this homemade brew, and each one weighs 250 pounds.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As they did downstairs, Valrieth lets Octavian lead the way into the room just in case something attacks them. She follows and looks around the room for any sign of danger or the two things they're looking for.
"I don't think that she'd hide her valuable possessions in a place like this," Val says. She assumes, like Finley suggested earlier, that Bavlorna would put Clapperclaw's head and Octavian's heart on display in a prominent and public place (possibly as part of some stuffed monstrosity) or hide them away in a vault with her other treasures.
Val isn't interested in poking around at random things while Bavlorna is so close, but she'll wait for Finley to investigate the tools or the contraption, if he wants. While she waits, Val moves to check the next door (to B16) for traps or any sounds coming from the other side. Perception18
There are no traps, but you sharp hearing you can hear muffled voices coming from what you assume is Bavlorna and someone else.
(OOC: asking for clarification...
Does it sound like "if we go through this door, we're getting closer to Bavlorna" or more like "Bavlorna is just on the other side of this door"?
Valrieth thought that Bavlorna was in a room through that other door out of the kitchen (door from B13 to B10). She doesn't know the floor plan, but just based on the arrangement of the rooms so far, she wouldn't expect this door (from B17 to B16) to lead to the same room as that. It's possible that Bavlorna took her guest to a different room, but I'd imagine that voices 10' feet away through one door would sound different than voices from a couple of rooms over.
"Stick with me Vansel, but stay behind me if it comes ta fisticuffs."Finley adds as he carefully follows Val, staying a bit behind her since he's not so quiet.
