"Bavlorna likes to eat meat and is not picky where it comes from. Yes, she likes taxidermy and soaking in the pool" says the Lornling
Valrieth tries to press for more details, "But then why are you here? Shouldn't you be with Bavlorna? Or are there a couple of Lornlings in each room, so you only have to serve her when she's here in the dining room? Or are you hiding from her for some reason?"
And yet again in their adventure, Val wishes that she had some way to coordinate with her companions without revealing their plans in front of the Lornlings.
They both let out a shrill laugh "No we are not hiding this is where we sleep. Bavlorna is with a guest and does not want to be interrupted. We are the only Lornings made so far though it would be easy for Bavlorna to make more."
“Well why don’t ye go back ta sleep then, aye?” Finley offers, “ah didn’t meanta disturb yer rest. Ye seem like wonderful servants, but we’ll get back to waiting on Bavlorna.”

“Well why don’t ye go back ta sleep then, aye?” Finley offers, “ah didn’t meanta disturb yer rest. Ye seem like wonderful servants, but we’ll get back to waiting on Bavlorna.”
Valrieth is happy to play "good cop" off of her companions. Val says, "Just a moment, Finley. I apologize for my friend: dwarves can be a bit hasty--and violent!--at times. You said that Bavlorna likes soaking in the pool. We noticed that there's a mirror in the pool. I'm sure that hags can be a bit eccentric, but that seemed like a strange place for a mirror. Do you know what she uses that mirror for? Surely, it's not just to look at herself while she bathes?"
"Ah the mirror brings people here from somewhere else
(OOC: seems like a typo in that last post, but it looked like the Lornling was saying "a funhouse" or perhaps something like that, which would remind Valrieth of their experiences at the Witchlight Carnival.)
"Oh my goodness!", Valrieth exclaims, her words coming in a rapid jumble in her excitement. "The little 'girl' who I saw in that funhouse mirror at the Carnival! You remember, Finley? When we rescued the halfling--Rubin?--from the Hall of Illusions at the carnival, I saw a 'girl' in a pig mask inside one of the mirrors. I bet it was a Lornling who was trying to lure him into Hither."
Val realizes that this mirror is one of the ways that the hags kidnap children from the Carnival to Prismeer. Is it part of their Quest to sever such connections between Faerûn and Prismeer? Or could they use it in some way to get back home? Then Val realizes that she can't do that. Not until she fulfills the bargain that she made with Bloody Toes. But maybe they could use it to get more help from Faerûn? Val has a brief vision of bringing Hisa and Gan-Re and even Eudith back to help them in Hither, but--no, they wouldn't still be at the Carnival now. She wonders where the Carnival is now. Does it go to other lands than Faerûn? Or perhaps there are whole other worlds out there....?
Val drags her attention back from her musings. She fixes her gaze back on the Lornling who spoke and thinks about how to proceed. Suddenly, she smiles and says sweetly, "Well, how fascinating! A gateway to the Carnival! We're both interested in magic, but the Feywild seems to have its own special enchantments. Do you know how the mirror works? Surely Bavlorna doesn't just leave such a doorway to another world open so that anyone can step through into her house at any time!"
"There is a magic word you say and it works. What was it again" the 2 Lornlings seem a bit forgetful and start blurting out what it could sound like. “blunder scratch,” “bangle stash,” “banter catch,” “bandy crasher,” “bumble snatch,” and “babble scrabble.”
"Ah bet yer right about the mirrors, Val."Finley says as he folds his arms across his chest, "Bantersnack'? Ye know yer quite helpful critters, give it a few more tries and the portal might open, aye? Ah've always wanted to go to a carnival."

The party would need to stand in front of the mirror and say the magic word to see if it works.
The Lorning looks to Finley "That could be the right word, but we are not sure."
Valrieth looks satisfied, though she still wonders exactly what these "Lornlings" can do in a fight and how many of them the group would have to face if they got into a fight with Bavlorna. She says, "Thank you, you've been very helpful. We should let you get back to sleep, but maybe you could answer one more question. Do you know where Bavlorna keeps her prized possessions, like books and souvenirs? You said that she does not want to be disturbed while she's with a guest, but we are running an errand ourselves. We need to return one of her books, but we weren't sure where to put it."
Val didn't want to reveal that they have Bavlorna's book, but she hopes that it might induce them to answer the question. She's just hoping to narrow down their search for Clapperclaw's head among all of this clutter.
The Lornling points towards B10 "There are stairs in that room"
"Oh! Thank you," Valrieth says, her voice getting tight and a little squeaky at the thought of entering Bavlorna's tea room. She can't think of anything else that they could ask the Lornlings politely without revealing too much of their own plans, and it seems wrong to threaten them since they've been helpful already.
Val looks to Finley and Octavian questioningly and puts her hand on the door to B7 again. "All done here?"
The walls of this dank hallway are covered with scores of portraits depicting grumpy, sad, frightened, and angry people. The figures include humans, elves, halflings, bullywugs, and goblins, among others. The portraits are rendered in a variety of mediums, including paintings, etchings, and sketches. All are displayed in gaudy, gilded frames. Octavian's portrait is here as well.
A framed oval mirror two feet wide and five feet tall hangs in the middle of one wall.
But aware of Bavlorna's presence at the end of the hall, she simply checks the door (to B8) directly across from the dining room. Perception18
If it looks safe, and if she doesn't hear anything through the door, she opens the door slowly, lets the others through, and then follows them inside. She closes the door door quietly behind herself. Stealth16
This is a dusty, uncluttered room. Several shadow boxes hang on the wall to either side of a modest bed with moldering linens. Most of the shadow boxes contain mummified pixies pinned to boards like a collection of butterflies. The glass on one of the shadow boxes has been broken, and its contents are missing.

"All over the place but many are upstairs where Bavlorna sleeps:" says the Lornling
"OK," Valrieth says happily. "That's probably the best place for it. But I don't think that we've seen a staircase leading up to that level..."

"Let's keep going. What I am seeking should be here somewhere" says Octavian who follows Val.
Finley nods, with a tight lipped smile he keeps his eyes on the lornlings.

Val noticed there is a cleverly hidden door to B9 that blends into the surrounding wall almost seamlessly. The hidden door is locked,
