Candlefoot nods at the idea of pen and paper. Once given he begins writing how he met Palasha the mermaid and that his colors would return to him only when she sings. Since then they have fallen love with each other and he was about to propose when Kettlestream a kenku stole his voice. He writes that she has been disturbing the attractions across the carnival and that she can disguise herself to look like anyone else.
He is nearly in tears as he writes his story. Once done he hands the paper to everyone so they can know his sad story.
‘Good Thinking on the pen and paper Val, this is much easier. Hey, maybe that should be our team name “Good Thinking”’. He then turns to the clown and asks ‘How did they steal your voice? Did they put their hand in your mouth and pull it out? Does that mean they now sound like you? What do you normally sound like?’
Gan-Re is pleased with his list of questions, he feels like a proper investigator now
Candlefoot shrugs as he does not know how the kenku stole his voice. He assumes some kind of magic and he has a hard time describing his voice beyond it being a man's voice.
Finley glances at Gan-Re and notes good thinking as part of a team name. "Hmm, ah think we'll be findin' this troublemaker for ye. Dunnae like tha' they would keep ya from proposin' to yer beloved like tha'. Do ye know what color th' eyes were? Mayhap they cannae change that." He gives a slight shrug, not knowing any kenku personally, "Gan-Re, didn't ya say that they were cursed creatures?"

Valrieth doesn't feel like laughing after she finishes reading Candlefoot's sad story. Of course, the image of a Kenku reaching its arm down the clown's throat to pull out his voice starts her laughing again.
Candlefoot shrugs as he does not know how the kenku stole his voice. He assumes some kind of magic and he has a hard time describing his voice beyond it being a man's voice.
When she is able to talk again, she asks, "Candlefoot, do you know how to restore your voice? For example, when the kenku stole it, did she say anything? Do you remember any condition, like, 'you won't speak again until the stars shine in the sky at noon on a summer's day'?'"
If not, Val says,"I guess we'll just have to find this kenku...,"looking at Candlefoot's story again,"Kettlestream, and see whether we can convince her to give his voice back."
Finley glances at Gan-Re and notes good thinking as part of a team name. "Hmm, ah think we'll be findin' this troublemaker for ye. He gives a slight shrug, not knowing any kenku personally, "Gan-Re, didn't ya say that they were cursed creatures?"
Assuming that Candlefoot doesn't have any other information for them, Val takes out the map and asks, "So, I guess we should just head to the Sliversong Lake next? We can talk to Candlefoot's girlfriend, Palasha, and I guess we'll just have to keep an eye out for the kenku as we go."
But as she puts away the map, she remembers, "Oh! Hisa, what was in that glass case you were looking at before we went into Hall of Illusions?"

Gan-Re is pleased with his questions, they have eliminated all the children and women as suspects, he isn't sure about the non-binaries. That sounds like a lot of suspects eliminated in one go, he must be getting good at this.
He responds to Finley 'Yes definitely cursed in the stories. But that was all a long time ago. Now their descendents cannot fly or speak. Sounds awful, I love flying and speaking.'
His work on eliminating suspects done, Gan-Re doesn’t have a better idea for what to do next and is happy to follow the team.

Valrieth lets out a loud laugh. If you ask, she looks embarrassed and says it was nothing: she just remembered something funny from before. Val definitely seems sillier than she was back at the Pixie Kingdom.
In reality, it just occurred to her that after all of the trouble guessing Candlefoot's charades, a better team name might be Bird Brains. Of course, that made her laugh, but she doesn't share that idea with the team. She's not sure whether Gan-Re would take it as a compliment or an insult.
Kettlestream eye color was brown and no there were no phrases. One moment I was talking to her and then gone was my voice. In the next moment she ran and I could not find her. Thank you for helping me
"Aye, we'll be back."Finley tells the mime and then looks to Val with a raised eyebrow, "Ye'll 'ave ta tell me th' joke later then. Fer now we should be getting to th' lake, but keep an eye and ear out in case we pass this cursed creature by. Brown eyes seem ta be somethin' ta look for and it seems they may be usin' others voices as their own."

The party heads over to the lovely Silver Song Lake. Mist gathers at the banks of a shimmering lake. Near its center, a mermaid lounges in a giant bowl, singing a glorious, haunting song that captivates spectators on the lakeshore. In response, the lake water coalesces into magical sculptures that whirl around her as she performs.
Audiences crowd the lakeside just to witness her beauty and hear her song.
Then you hear a heckler in the crowd "Ha my deaf aunt can sing better than you fish lady" Then another heckler "A beautiful lake ruined by awful singing."
Gan-Re turns to Val and says 'You are wise little friend. What should we call ourselves as a group? So that when people need help that can say "Call for Team" and then say our name '

Without turning to look at Gan-Re, Valrieth swats at him absently with her hand, saying, "Shhhhh." Her ears are both turned toward the voices from the crowd, a focused look of concentration on her face.
