Finley quietly watches as Gan-Re is healed, "Ah've got three berries if ye need them as well, dunnae forget, aye?" He glances at the Duke, putting his badge on the front of his longcoat. "Ye don't have to share anything, this whole fairy land is quite different than our own so we're only curious about th' creatures."

Valrieth wasn't sure what to say, so she's happy that Finley responded. She's not sure whether Duke Ickrind is distressed that the factory was ruined by the fire, but she tries her best to be comforting: "When a wildfire burns a forest, we mourn for the death and loss. But the wheel of life ever turns. The fire clears the dead wood, and it makes room for saplings and other new life. Maybe you'll find that this unfortunate fire eventually leads to new beginnings, too."
Then Val asks Duke Ickrind for directions to the gazebo. She explains: "We're on our way to meet with King Gullop XIX next, but I've never met a king before. You're a duke! Could you tell us what the proper etiquette is when meeting the king?"
Once he gives his answer, Val checks that she has all of her things and says to her friends, "OK. I think that I'm ready."
(OOC: Assuming that the Duke shows them how to get to the bridge or causeway that leads over to the gazebo, Val is ready to head to D6 via D5. As usual, she lets Gan-Re lead, but she tries to follow close behind him, second-in-line, so that the Trio can leverage her perception as they enter new areas.)
Duke Ickrind teaches the Trio the proper way to bow and that the Bullywugs places importance on politeness. He then shows the Trio to the door to the Bridge to the Gazebo
This flat wood-plank bridge, which spans an arm of the lake, is lined on one side by rows of bullywug heads on wooden spikes. At the center of the bridge, a small figure sits with its feet dangling over one side. The figure appears to be talking to itself in bemoaned tones. But then the severed bullywug heads nearby erupt in a cacophony of voices—some indignant, others sympathetic. A few in a more distant row yell, “What? I couldn’t hear what they said!”

Val is startled when the heads start talking but she's too excited about the figure on the bridge to focus on them. She looks around Gan-Re and says: "That must be 'Clapperclaw'! The guide with claws for hands who Ms. Harabax told us about. She said that they could take us to Zybilna's palace or at least guide us out of Hither and closer to the palace. Let's introduce ourselves."
Val takes out her star map and casts Guidance on Gan-Re in case they need to convince Clapperclaw to help them.
Gan-Re steps forward and says "Greeting and good day. I am Gan-Re and these are Val the wise druid and Finley the mighty artificer. Are you perchance Clapperclaw? "

"Yes I am Clapperclaw the Scarcrow. Oh how I miss my head" It lowers its gourd of a head and you can hear something clinking in his head. His voice is that of a child.

Valrieth approaches and puts a hand on Clapperclaw's shoulder. She asks, "What happened to your head, Clapperclaw? Maybe we can help!"
Val looks uncertainly at the gourd, unsure of whether Clapperclaw can see or how they can speak. She glances at the gruesome heads impaled on spikes along the bridge, looking for a head that might belong to Clapperclaw.

"Unfortunately I have no clue what she did with my beautiful head" says Clapperclaw
Valrieth gets to the point: "We also have a problem, and Tsu Harabax suggested that you might be able to help us. We're trying to get to the Heart’s Desire Palace, but we were told that we can't get there directly from Hither. If we can get your old head back, would you guide us out of Hither and toward the Heart's Desire Palace?"
“I’m guessing ye made a deal with Bavlorna of some kind? We may end up in her domain so Ah wouldn’t mind keeping an eye out for yer head.” Finley nods.

All the severed heads are bullywugs.
"Bavlorna Blightstraw took my head. It was a glorious stag head. I make do with this gourd, but its just not me." says Clapperclaw
"A..a stag's head?!", Valrieth says, surprised, looking at Finley and Gan-Re as though confirming that they heard it, too.
"Do you know what Bavlorna did with your head? Where she put it?"
