Mara wakes up covered in sweat as the nightmare flashes through her mind once more. It takes her several moments to get her bearings, muttering the names of who those strange figures could have been from her memories. As she calms down she pulls her knees towards her chin and wraps her amrs around herself, something she had not done since being a young child.
When Mairshall offers the food she will take it silently, the only sing she is coherent being the nods she gives to the deep gnome. She quickly eats her meal and look towards the others, hoping that none would question the odd behavior.
As Mara hides her head in her arms, something feels different. The normally dark sanctuary of curling up seems somewhat easier to see. As Mairshall returns with food and the slime for her and she looks up, he takes a step back. "Magga Cammara, what has happened to you?" He asks.
Looking at Mara, others can see that her arms have golden bindings etched along her arms, as if intricately woven bracers were drawn into her skin, and her eyes are now a solid gold colour, no iris or pupils visible.
Mairshall places the bowl safely down on the floor beside Mara. "Do you feel ill? I have never seen markings like this."
Mara look at her arms and botices that she is seeing some of the darker things in the room with a new shade of grey surrounding them. As she hears the gnomes fearful voice she will shake her head at his question, pushing the thoughts of the nightmare behind her. She herself feels totally normal but then looks at her arms and her eyes go wide as she sees that the markings of her past had changed.
"I feel perfectly fine. I had expected something like this to happen but I did not know how or when it would occur. This is just the effect of a deal I made with a divine entity. He allows me to heal the sick and help those in need and in exchange I perform a few tasks for him as needed."She tells the deep gnome with a shrug, not truly worried if the rest of the party wpuld be bothered by it. She thought that as long as she could help with healing they would not truly care where her magic came from. That was not to say she was still unsettled as she began to rub the stranger markings as if they were irritating her skin.
Dark struggles to wake up from the replay of the events that nearly cost him his life. The feeling of being paralyzed is a feeling he has felt many times in his life. Compared to the absolute freedom in the skies, there is nothing worse to him than not being able to use his natural abilities. Similar to a caged bird, the trees in this place give off such a foreboding. Before getting up to eat and drink, Dark takes a few extra minutes to really study his surroundings and team members. It seems like everyone that started with him in the jail cell have changed in the last day or two. (Time is so hard for him to tell in this place without a sun.) Finally, Dark says to each Gnome, "Thank you for helping us with water, food and shelter. Do you know how to get out of this place? I mean how to get back to where we came from."
"So long as you are not sick." Mairshall says, handing the food to Mara. He then turns to Darkwing. "I do not know. I didn't know much beyond these caverns or the deadwood. There have been people who have travelled through before. Some are nasty, some not as much. Those who have climbed out of the caverns have never been seen again."
Simmeat awakened from his dream with a start. He looked around and no longer saw his family and began to hyperventilate. He slowed his breathing and focused on the sound of it for a few minutes. He looked at the gnomes handing the mushrooms and slime to his companions and thought back to his dream.
Are they trustworthy? Is this place just trying to turn me against them?
(OOC: Survival check is for the mushrooms and green paste, to see if they're okay to eat. I accidentally rolled a d2 on the first survival check. Added the second one to not have manipulated rolls.)
"You were having a bad dream, make sure you eat up." Mairshall tells Simmeat as he passes the food across.
Simmeat examines the mushrooms. He's not seen ones like these before, but they don't seem to have the telltale signs of poison around them. The slime is also quite peculiar; it doesn't look enticing, but beggars can't be choosers.
As the group is given their food, the female deep gnome comes walking down the passageway, carrying a sack that seems half-filled. When people taste their food, the slime tastes fairly sour, and appears to be an acquired taste. The mushrooms are much more bland, but seem like a godsend and filling after the ordeal that has gone through.
Mara nods at what the gnome says to him, finding that she could see much better in the dark and that she could clearly make out rest of the group. She shrugs it off for now and will instead look at the markings on her arm more. She found it strange but guessed it was something she could worry about covering wnhe she found better clothing.
Killian notices Mara's new adornments thinking to him self, oh sure she gets new tattoo's I get taller. Walking over to Mara,"Hey there Mara that's some pretty looking artwork you got there"As he starts to compare his own tattoos to her new golden hue. "Like me you don't have a choice as to what effect the magic does huh?"
Killian accepts the slimy mushroom food from Mairshall, Looks around at everyone who is eating and chows down. as the sour taste hits his tongue and he swallows his first bite, "Man some rum would probably make this go down easier"

"Not really. It seems that my patron decided to give me abilities they thought would give me a better chance of surviving in this place. I expect soon enough they will let me know exactly what new abilities I have. Although I have reason to beleive that one of them has something to do with my vision." The warlock tells him as she shakes her head as he makes yet another mention of alcohol.
Mairshall then moves over to meet the female deep gnome. They begin to speak in undercommon to one another quietly (Simmeat, if you want to try and listen in, it'd be a DC 13 Perception Check) before the female deep gnome travels towards the tent with the sack.
Darnell wakes with a gasp. Despite his nightmare, he feels quite refreshed by the night's sleep. He helps cheerfully, trying to shake off his feeling of fear.
Shadow bolts upright, staring around at everyone wide eyed. He takes a moment to catch his breath and calm his heart rate. Upon receiving the food he nods thanks to the gnomes, not saying much after this whole ordeal. He eats quickly fearing that if he takes too long the food will vanish.
As the group sits down to eat, Mairshall drags over a small rock to use as a stool and sits in front of them. "So, I think we can start trading questions now. We'll trade, one answer for another. Since you are our guests, you may ask first."
The female deep gnome comes back out of the tent, unburdened now, but it shows she has some minor wounds on her side, which she keeps her hand over.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mara see the injured gnome and frowns as she can see that she is trying to cover it. If it seems as if it is bothering her badly enough she will scoot forward and cat Cure WOUNDS on her, using the time they talk as a chance to get a short rest to get her spell slot back.
Killian address Mairshall, "That seems fair enough" looking to the group for signs of agreement, "First of all, again I extend our thanks to you and...I'm sorry I didn't catch her name." gesturing towards his female companion. "what information do you have about who built this place? I heard you call it a tower where would we be located in it right now?"

The female deep gnome backs away from Mara as she comes closer. "What in the darkness' name do you think you're doing, outsider?" She protests. It appears she is not familiar with healing spells. (If you want to try and get the spell in before she got away, you can make a DC 12Dexterity check to try and catch her with it. Otherwise you can opt not to expend the spell, or try to use persuasion to convince her to let you tend to the wound.)
"She did not give it." Mairshall states."She has not yet chosen to trust you as I have. It is something you must earn." The female deep gnome then wanders over to the water holders and takes a small handfull, splashing it on her faces and using it to bathe her head. Mairshall continues, "The tower is what this..." he gestures around him. "What all of this is. That is the name for this entire place handed down through our ancestors. A world with impenetrable walls and twisting caverns, though the old tales speak of lands where light on the ceiling is not from moss, but from a celestial, and the caverns are near endless." He pauses for a moment. "I believe it is my turn to ask a question; what do you intend to do now, outsiders?"
