You get the feeling that you are slowly ascending while following these paths. They seem to almost be a concentric circle grid, as if it were curving like the inside of a bowl. From what you can tell, you may be about 50-75 feet higher up than when you started, albeit it took a few moments to get that elevation.
Killian, feeling the slight incline regains some hope as to getting out of this place, also has thinking of a way to acquire that quarterstaff from the old crone

The old crone steps up towards the dead end, tapping the quarterstaff a couple of times on the ground. There is an echoed tone that comes back, as if the floor panel she is standing on is hollow. She takes a step back "Wait for it." She says.
In the meantime the sentinel at the path seems to slowly be advancing towards the group. The crone seems somewhat confident that the group is fine, as she seems to be waiting for something.
Mara will ready herselfmin case the sentinals get to close. She will refrainnfrom hostile movements unless it seems like the stone constructs themselves are becoming hostile towards them.
The group hears a *THUNK, THUNK* from behind them as they wait for the sentinel to approach. Looking back, the floor piece the old crone tapped on begins to slowly move aside. Inside a youngish pair of elves, one male and one female, look up from the hole.
"Quick, in here." The crone says, gesturing to them to get within the hole. The sentinel, in the meantime, seems to have slightly hastened its pace; it seems it may have identified there are figures ahead.
With little choice unless she wanted to be invovled in another battle, Mara will slip intonthe room with the elves, glad to have darkvision now so that she can clearly see what is going onnin the room around them. She will turn back to the rest of her group and quickly motion for them to follow. "Hurry before we are forced to fight these things. I do not wish fight all of them at once as I am sure they are somehow connected to each other."
The group rushes down into the gap between the two elves as the crone follows behind. The elves slide the floor panel back into place and scurry off of the steps.
The group appears to be in a natural cavern area, very different to the neat passageways they were in not too long ago. In this cavern, there are some small globes of light illuminating the area, and a set of three hammocks setup to one side. There appear to be a pair of chests beyond them, which are the first look at something that was properly crafted and with another person not attempting to kill you.
The crone removes the lantern from her staff, snuffing the light. "Okay, we should be safe for the time being."She says, wiping a little sweat from her brow. The two elves look at the party inquisitively. They are garbed in some basic studded leather armour, and have a couple of sheathed daggers. The crone steps through into the room. "Make yourselves at home for now. We'll get onto the quiz shortly."She looks to the two elves. "Gretta, Hallens, it is rude to stare. Go get some refreshments sorted." The two elves immediately dash off towards the chests, beginning to rummage through them.
The crone looks up to Dark, a weary look on her face now. "When you have been here as long as I, you manage to scavenge and find things from back home." She says. Her more bravado and confident side seems to have drained away, leaving a frail woman in its place.
"Thank you for your hospitality. My name is Leojym, what may we call you?" The elf gives a weak bow, "You say that you have been here long. Should we infer you are not native to this place?" Leojym will wait for an answer and then ask, "Do you have any information about what or where this place is, or how to leave it?"

Darnell walks stoically, not sure what to think of this old lady. He glances up from time to time at those who were brain-blasted earlier.
And that's all I have to say about that.

Killian seeing the Sentinel advancing towards the group he says quietly, "Guess we will find out how fast these things are."

Rumble eyes the corner warily, but accepts the advice. But like dark, he'll ready himself to dodge at least the first salvo of attacks.
