Backstory: Xera has been hidden away for as long as she can remember... her earliest memories were from a dungeon... a cave...? Well, it doesn't really matter much. She wasn't there long before a group of adventurers found her and took her away from that place. Since then, she lived in the basement of a temple, shut away again in just another cave. She didn't see many people, except for the priest who acted as her tutor. Anyone else who caught sight of her always ran away screaming for some reason, and she couldn't figure out why. Was it her slimy black skin? Or maybe the single eye in the middle of her face? Or the cluster of tentacles bearing more eyes sprouting out of her back? But the priest always said that she wasn't bad, she was special, and he said that one day her time to shine would come. And maybe, she would find out who and what she was.
Well... that day came, but it wasn't the joyous moment she expected. On a day like any other, a horrible monster attacked the temple, killing everyone and everything it encountered. It floated in, shooting beams of death from numerous eyes stalks... just like hers. Xera had no choice... she fled from the creature so terrifyingly similar to her, with no time to mourn the loss of her sanctuary and the people who cared for her. Since then she has never stopped running, terrified that the horrible creature will find her again... and even more terrified that she might become like the thing she fears.
(In case it wasn't clear... Xera is a Beholderkin)

I play a wood elf that's multi classing rouge, warlock, and ranger.
Vakiis Of One was born in a poor village of less than a hundred refugees of all shapes and sizes. From a young age he suffered from a madness. Seeing and hearing things that no one else did. His father left to find his "wealth" while his mother was taken by disease. Not wanting to be like the other orphaned boys and girls who were left in the gutter for the rats. Instead he took to survival in the local wilderness and thievery among the villagers. But one day pirates would come and sack the village. Vakiis hid and heard the terrible screams of everyone he'd ever known being murdered only fueling the madness in his brain and the voices in his head. After murdering one of the bandits in a state of pure adrenaline and confusion the pirates took him under his wing. What few morals he had were then lost as he enjoyed the life of an outlaw. Becoming a known terror among the bandits for his intelligent and brutal way of fighting. Also picking up an addiction to drink and any other fun thing he could find thinking it was the only way to quiet the ones In his head. But one day the madness became too much and with all the voices in his head along with all of the dead he'd ever known haunting him he prayed for help for an end to the madness but instead only received ironic magical power from The Fiend. The power to make his illusions others as well as to make them real. After this deal gone wrong and a strange symbol now forever on his neck a constant reminder Vakiis seeks a cure for his madness while also succumbing to it. But his goals are lost among his craving for drugs, excitement and just a little bit of fun. He left the pirates and now explores hoping not to lose his mind before he finds a cure. He could be helping search for the dukes son not because he cares but because part he views the duke as an opportunity to gain information for his quest.

Canto Wetfire
Halfling
Rogue
Canto's older brother was wrongly accused and punished for the jeweler's murder. He's convinced one of the guards that his brother is innocent and the guard will let his brother go free, but, for a large fee. Canto needs to come up with the money or his brother, his only remaining family, will be stoned to death in the town centre. Did anyone check whether we need to bring the Duke's son back alive? Or, will the corpse work equally? Better yet, will the Duke let Canto willingly into their house with enough time for Canto to find his coffer?
