Following the watchful eyes of Veldan's owl familiar, you all press on, following the trail of blood that barely shows itself on the slick stone floor. You take a right after twenty feet, head down another thirty feet, then cross to the left side of the junction and follow the tracks to a steel door that is slightly ajar. You push it open and find yourself in what appears to be a large room, about twenty by twenty, that acts as a main entrance for sewage workers that has not been used for a while. Some stairs go up the side of the right-hand wall to another steel door that is covered in cobwebs. What catches your eye is a collapse in the masonry of the wall right in front of you that looks to be a cavern leading deeper into the earth. It is about five feet wide and seven feet tall and the bloody trail leads right to the mouth.
As you see that, you also notice three large reptilian creatures that are about five feet long. Their heads snap toward the entrance and hiss at you, baring sharp teeth and glaring with piercing eyes.
"Ah, the lapdogs!" Excited for a taste of battle, Veldan slips his narrow frame past Wrath and shifts into the room, rapier drawn. Spotting one of the beasts, he points his left hand at it. On the index finger, a silver ring with a dark red gem set at an angle, facing forward. The gem radiates white energy and fires a chill ray at the beast. However, the poor light causes him to mistake a rock for part of its body, leaving a forlorn patch of ice.
"Bah!" He spits, then with a wag of his finger brings his light into the room.
Rushing into the room Tal fires a notched arrow at the one closest on the right. Upon his arrow striking true Tal smiles and notches an arrow for another shot to be had.
Drawing a massive greatsword, Wrath takes a mighty swing at the giant lizard Tal had stuck with an arrow. The attack finds purchase in the creature's flank as a giant gash opens up and blood oozes from the wound. The lizard staggers but stays on its two feet, hissing defiantly at the goliath warrior.
The fire genasi sorcerer conjures a mote of flame in his hands and hurls it at the lizard engaged with his newfound goliath friend, nailing the reptile right on the head and ending its life in a flash of smoke and fury. Shaw smiles as he realizes that he's scored the first kill of this newfound adventure.
The three lizards have been reduced to two, and now they are angry. The one that the zealot injured takes a snap at its attacker, but the dragonborn expertly keeps the beast at bay with his halberd. The other lizard darts over to Wrath and clamps its mighty teeth around the half-giant's leg, dealing a significant amount of damage. The goliath manages to pry the creature off of him before it could tear off his leg.
With a flourish of his rapier, Veldan dashes at the lizard threatening the changebringer worshipper. As he wheeled around it, Twilight flies screeching at the monster while the wizard stabs it in the flank.
"So this is what the hunt feels like?!" Tal sees the lizard that attacked Wrath and aims carefully, pulling back the bowsting. Taking a quick breath through his mouth he released the arrow into the side of the beast near the connection of the hip to the torso. Quickly grabbing annother arrow and notched it before looking for another target.
With an angry growl, Wrath sends a kick right into the side of the lizard that bit him. The blow lifts the beast off the floor and sends it crashing into the other one, sending them sprawling but still alive.
Shawsten summons another mote of flame from the fire in his soul and tosses it at the lizard engaged with Krenak, blasting it on the side of the head and injuring it, but still it draws breath. The air smells of burnt scaly flesh.
Seeing that one of the lizards tried to run, Razz, annoyed at the cowardice of his opponent, beheads him, sending the lizard's head flying through the air.
As the noise of battle comes to an end, Veldan pinches his nose, face scrunched as Twilight settles back on his shoulder.
"Did you have to slice it open? Gods what do the people of Emon eat?" He said with some difficulty, pacing across the room trying to find somewhere the smell wasn't so thick.
Approaching the hole they were fleeing towards, he leaned against the lip and narrowed his eyes to see as much he could.
The tunnel appears to slope downward slightly as it leads downward several feet until turning slightly to the left out of your sight. It is warmer in the tunnel than the sewers. Veldan believes the size remains consistent all the way down: five feet across and seven feet high. Veldan, Shaw, and Tal will fit comfortably, but Krenak and Wrath might be a little cramped.
As Wrath examines the bodies of the dead lizards, he notices that all of them bear a brand of a claw mark seared into their right flanks. It looks to be about the same size as the bigger bloody claw print left behind from the crime scene. You are unsure of anything in particular this could be connected to. No groups or factions that you know of. It must be how these kobolds mark their creatures.
"Well, that last one seemed to be running here. Think it was scuttling back to its greedy masters?" Veldan posits with an unsure look, glancing back at the others with a raised brow.
Standing up from examining the lizard's mark, Razz shrugs, "If that is true, might as well press on. The faster we find these guys, the sooner we can get out of this place and get paid."
Razz walks in the direction that the lizards tried to run away in, making sure to take point again.
"I agree", Shaw says. Stepping to the rear of the group he produces a flame to light the tunnel around him. "Keep up the good work Razz. Let's head out."
"Never let good meat go to waste," Krenak said mildly as he cut off several portions of lizard meat. "Thank you for your help," he said softly to the dead creatures before standing up and taking his place in the back of the line.

Moving up into the room, Kredak pulled back with his halbard before lunging forward, scoring a nice gash along the lizard's flank.

Roaring out in laughter, Razz compliments Tal's shot, "Nice one!"
Lashing out with his leg, Razz kicks the lizard in front if him, with the full force if his shoe, in the direction of another one.

Razz flicks his sword in arc, letting the blood fly of its edge, before smoothly sheathing it. Hearing Veldan he shoots him a curious look.
"We'r feet deep in shiet, and you're complaining bout me cutting off the bugger's head?"
Razz begins to check the bodies for loot or any visible information they might have on them.
"....might 'ave been a good idea to keep one of them alive though."
