Also I forgot to mention that the squares for this map are 10ft × 10ft. So each square can fit four people. If we really need a working grid map I can provide it with a little work.
Oreus is a little worried by his armor lit, saying to Alben
"No, please, lit my glaive point , otherwise I will be too easy a target!"
Looking at the glyphs , he does not rely on his arcana knowledge but he concentrates to remember if he has seen them somewhere before or if he has any memory of them
As you descend the stairs Oreus lights a torch, Alben offers to put a light spell on Oreus' armor thinking that the torch might be cumbersome. Oreus liked the idea but would like it cast on the point of his weapon. (I assume Alben will so cast the spell, which is a cantrip and lasts an hour).
When you get down to the square room at the bottom of the stairs Oreus studies the glyphs on the gear doors and after puzzling over it for a bit of time (about 10 minutes) he decides that they are gnomish letters.
A little more information
The westernmost door is closed and inscribed with an "J".
The easternmost door bears the letter "Z" and rests half-open
The door is wedged open with a chunk of stone.
While Oreus is puzzling over the letters, Alben looks at one of the masks trying to decipher where the giggling noises are coming from. But there are no clues as the mask is stuck the the wall.
Meanwhile Laladak is searching the floor for tracks to follow (still need a survival check to see if you see any. Also when I said to be descriptive on you perception language, I meant before you give me a roll to describe what you are looking/listening for and then roll your perception).
It looks like the marching order is Shadow in the lead, followed by Oreus with the light source, Laladak is in the middle, Alben next and Tyris bringing up the rear. Does this sound right? Do you want to by in one column or two
Laladak can make out small hoof prints that seem to lead through the opened gear door. He also sees indications of someone being dragged down the stairs and through that same door.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(you would be correct in assuming I use light on the glave)
Alben turns back to the masks and tries to remember if there is any significance to these that he has encountered before (I am assuming that knowledge of these would be history or religion? Roll os the same for me) religion/history: 3
Assuming nothing of significance comes to mind "well, i say we head into the door wedged open and see what we can find."

Oreus lits a torch.
"I can be on front"
He says, sure of himself, even if after a second he adds, less sure " with someone better than me at scouting...maybe..."
You will have to drop the torch (possibly letting it go out), to use your Glaive. As the Glaive is a two-handed weapon that doesn't have versatility.
I can take point and scout ahead too when needed. I have dark vision and can see without the torch

The westernmost door is closed and inscribed with a strange glyph.
The easternmost door bears a different glyph but rests half-open
The door is wedged open with a chunk of stone.
Alben turns to Oreus " I can can light on your armor if you prefer, beats the torches."
Alben would be better off toward the back of the party.
"Does anyone understand or recognise those symbols?"
Alben will inspect one of the masks on the wall, lifting it to look at the back side and wall behind it."
The mask appears to be stuck the the wall.
Laladak will search for footprints or movements of others who have gone through this space.

Oreus recognizes the glyphs as possibly gnomish. (You can make a second int roll to try to decipher them)

Alben studies the mask before him and thinks back to see if he remembers hearing anything similar, but doesn't have any memories.
"Works for me, let's move."
Laladak looks at the group. "Alright then, lets roll." Laladak will move to the back of the group to cover the rear.
