Quite unsure of the dietary preferences of Kobolds, Eila pushes both a glass of water and a glass of wine over in Zaphi's direction as a welcoming gesture. "And I am Painbearer Eila Forthall, come to Candlekeep on a mission from my superior to retrive a tome of interest to the Temple of Ilmater in Baldur's Gate. First though, I'm aiding Elliðaey and Millicent with their journey as they're in need of help. It's a pleasure to meet you Zaphi."
Introductions said, she settles back to listen with her ear inclined curiously toward the newcomer, keen to hear indeed just how he does know 'The Boss Lady'.
"We met in the beginning of when I was trying to be an adventurer. Before I mainly plied my skills in Waterdeep, but um... something happened so I chose another path. Lets just say I had a romantic notion of daring adventurers. I was quickly disillusioned of that notion when on a job I became stuck in this muddy swamp with gators coming to feast on me. That day Elliðaey saved my hide by pulling me out of the muck and even helped take down, my first gator. Soon after we parted ways and now we meet again. Perhaps there is some kind of fate or destiny at work." says Zaphi with a wistful tone
Zaphi touches the gator leather pouch on his belt. Its the same one from the story.
"To Vermeillon," Eila confirms with a curt nod to the paladin.
She glances over atElliðaey with a clear measure of admiration in her eye, then back to their new companion. "It would seem Elliðaey has quite the habit for helping travellers in need! What brings you to Candlekeep, Zaphi?"
The Paladin responds to Eila with an approving nod and takes another drink of her wine. Though the glass is still half-full the colour has already risen in her cheeks and her body seems more relaxed. With a slight frown, she takes her cup of water and dilutes the remaining wine.
Leaning over to Millicent, Jade softly inquires, "That's not really an answer is it? Why do you go where Elliðaey goes?"
Millicent frowned, slightly confused, " Much the same reason you go where Eila goes I would think."
She bites down on her bottom lip a little hard and closes her eyes for a moment.
She hesitated between turning away and relaxing back into her seat, finally choosing the latter but not before a dark spectral hand softly cupped Jades chin and a sourceless breathy voice whispered in her ear, " The wages of sin are paid in recompense not punishment."
Eila gives a knowing laugh, "There is something about taverns, isn't there! Innkeepers just seem to know so much." She takes a long drink of her wine and moves to face Zaphi a little more comfortably. "You say you were in Waterdeep - are you from there, or were you just working there for a time? I mean to go there myself once my work here is done."
"I was born and raised in the underground warrens in the Misty Forest south of Waterdeep. There was no job there that suited my taste so I was sent to Waterdeep the City of Splendors. I worked in Waterdeep for a several years. I will tell you that there are many marvels and dangers in Waterdeep. Just keep your wits about you if you plan to work there."says Zaphi
"It doesn't sound too dissimilar from my own city, though Baldur's Gate isn't as heavy on splendours and marvels. I will keep your advice in mind when I visit, thankyou."
Eila settles back for a few moments just to take in the warm ambience and friendly atmosphere of the The Hearth. It's galleried walls are a far cry from the spartan decor of the temple of Ilmater she serves at, and it's a small pleasure just to be able to see art that exists purely for arts' sake. "Tempting as it would be to stop at this tavern a while, have you any plans for what you'll be up to after this evening Zaphi, or are you just heading straight back to the city?"
Millicent pivoted away from Jade, unsure what had just happened and looked into the fire.
She pulled her satchel up onto her lap and hugged it close to her with a peaceful smile, " Elliðaey is taking us to a possibly haunted village...well, town...would that interest you, Zaphi Flame-scale?"
Zaphi's tail swishes back and forth as he thinks. Then he says "Yes Elliðaey saved me and I have not been able to repay her. In truth I have some experience with the dead, so if its to help a friend then I am willing to join. Do you have any more information of this haunted town?"
"Repayment is unnecessary friend, " Elliðaey replies her usual jovial tone returned. "It's good to see you Zaphi and know I'm not the only one of our companions from Waterdeep that has survived this long," she adds winking at the kobold and sounding rather cryptic to the party. "The task at Vermeillon is a difficult one. Are you sure Menos can spare you? I would not wish anyone to join us without knowing they're putting themselves into danger but they understand the risks are as yet unknown to me," the monk explains having moved closer to Zaphi smaller frame half protectively and half out of the sheer joy of seeing her old friend, the oldest seated around the table now! "These are my companions and I count myself very lucky to know them all," she adds smiling out contently at everyone.

Zaphi hops onto the big chair. His feet is barely touching the floor "So what brings everyone here to Candelkeep?"
Millicent successfully resists the urge to let out a slight squee at the sight of the tiny dragon person, " Uh, where Elliðaey goes I go."
" Hello, I'm Millicent! How do you know the Boss-Lady?"
Jade casts a glance at Millicent. She's heard the answer before but seems to be considering it in a new way.
She takes another appreciative sip of the elderberry wine and waits for her betters to respond to the kobold.
Quite unsure of the dietary preferences of Kobolds, Eila pushes both a glass of water and a glass of wine over in Zaphi's direction as a welcoming gesture. "And I'm Jade. I'm traveling with Painbearer Forthall," her attention shifts from the kobold to Eila, "...to Vermeillon?"

"I was delivering a book for Menos a scholar. Afterwards I decided to stop here at the tavern. Something about adventurers and taverns" says Zaphi.
He takes sips of the offered water.

"How do you repay the dead?"
Jade whispers the words automatically, as if she's not fully comprehending what's happening.
"How can you repay a god?"
Jade shakes her head and considers the contents of her wine glass before sliding it aside.
"Things aren't always as simple as they sound though, are they? Do I follow the Painbearer or do I follow Eila?"
She glances over at the cleric and quickly away.
"The reasons change depending on the answer."
"It doesn't sound too dissimilar from my own city, though Baldur's Gate isn't as heavy on splendours and marvels. I will keep your advice in mind when I visit, thank you."

"I have finished my task so I am on the lookout for another job, maybe one of these scholarly types will have need of my services" says Zaphi
