“Yes, I assumed she was still ahead of me. Her lack of being here seems to disprove that assumption though,” Dubh explains. “I was last out, did anyone see Parr pass them? No? Then I think that suggests she did something crazy and stayed behind to do it…”
“Honestly, at this point, it’s less about rescuing her, I think we’d have seen if she was captured, and more about not allowing her to name names and locations..”
“Though this town is likely too hot for us to stay in after this anyway…”
Dubh will stay with the crew, be it to make the delivery or to secure their missing member. Though it’s clear he’s against leaving witnesses around all Willy nilly.
"Yes, leaving Varkenbluff within a day after having returned was not what I had hoped for when I brought you all here but nothing we do now will prevent us from being sought by the law I fear. Let us at least deliver this world-ending egg to the good doctor and then decide if there is a point to trying to save Ms. Ker or if we should simply leave town, at least until things calm down." Luci says with a decisive tone. Not waiting any longer for a response from Joorin, Luci starts off towards the alley where they are supposed to meet the good doctor, making sure to not pass the main entrance of the museum.
"Let's focus on getting the thing delivered first. But yes, the guards saw us. Who knows where Parr is. We probably can't stay anywhere people know to look for us tonight," Windarë says in response to Luci's comments. She keeps moving along toward the alley as well.
Luci, Joorin, Dubh and Windarë make their way to the agreed meeting spot. As they round the corner, they see Dr. Dannell up ahead with some equipment set up on an old discarded crate in the alley ahead. She waves them over, looking visibly relieved at the sight of the egg.
Suddenly, anyone looking at the Murkmire Stone would see it turn from bright green to a milky translucent appearance. Looking closer you can now see a small creature moving within the egg.
As the egg changes appearance, it gives off a pulse of eldrich energy. Dr. Dannell frowns and her shoulders slump visibly as the pulse hits her.
(Everyone make a Wis save, Luci has advantage, and roll a d12 to determine how a failure will effect you)
"Dr. Dannell, are you alright?"Luci says, taking a step closer, ready to help the good doctor. "It seems the egg is about to hatch, I suggest we focus on whatever plan you had for handling this threat of world extinction." He adds in an imploring tone.
Parr is restrained by two of guards while a third makes no attempt to be gentle as he searches her and confiscates her weapons and thieves tools. Just as he finishes, Guard 7 reappears at the main doors along with several of the city watch. “Is this area secure,” he asks warily, “clerics are on the way,” he adds with a look to the unconscious museum guards.
The city watch is easily distinguished from the museum guards by their heavier weapons and armor. As they file into the museum and take up positions in the Grand Entrance, two of them take Parr Ker by the arms and escort her to a holding cell to await questioning.
"Let's not be rash," Dubh asserts. "Before we hand over the egg I do believe we are due some payment. Thirty gold each was the promise, yes? Should probably up the rate considering we lost a member and things were messy as hell... But considering that you may be right about the end of the world and all, we'll stay at thirty. So... Gold please? Then you can do whatever you want with the thing. Make omelets for all I care..." Dubh imposes himself a bit between the egg and the doctor in order to stress his point.
Windarë more echos Luci's sentiment as she too steps forward towards Dr. Dannell. "You are alright after all that, sir? I dare say we should not be wasting time."
“Agreed,” says Dr. Dannell removing a coin pouch from her belt and tossing it to Dubh. “Thirty gold each including your missing companion’s share. Now quickly, place the egg over here before we experience any more horrific effects ,” she says with a gesture toward a crystal case etched with strange symbols.
“Do we even need be here for the rest of it?” Dubh wonders aloud, testing the weight of the coins in his hand. “We could have authorities looking for us already.. I want to grab my gear and get out of town.”
As the egg is placed in the crystal box, Dr. Dannell holds a tome in one hand and waves her hand over the crystal casing while speaking in an unrecognized tongue. As she speaks, the crystal seals around the egg, the strange symbols flash and suddenly the egg is a bright green color once again.
”Well that’s a good sign,” she says with a sigh of relief.
Dr. Dannell then begins packing up her belongings, including the now dormant egg. After thanking each of you sincerely she collects her things and walks off into the night.
You are left with a sense of accomplishment at having completed your contract, despite the loose ends that you may have left.
As Dubh takes his share of the coin and heads off into the night to grab his gear, still wincing at the pain of his injury, it is not clear if he will be seen again.
Joorin also takes his share and wanders into the darkness of the city, half drunk still and half, well, Joorin. Only fate can decide if he will rejoin the crew at some future point.
With the unknown status of Parr Kerr and the departure of two crew members this leaves Luci and Windarë standing together in the alley, contemplating their next move.
Taking a quick farewell of those who wander off into the night, Lucifer quickly counts the golden coins he was given. "Thirty pieces of gold, a fair price for saving all of existence I suppose."He says, smiling to himself. "So Ms. Treynori, I feel we might have outstayed our welcome in Varkenbluff, might I suggest we take our leave before the streets a crawling with city watchmen, I believe this way would be the fastest out of town."He says with a confident smile, ready to leave with the scholarly half-elf for new exciting heists. "I'm certain our next heist will go much smoother." He adds with a wink.

Seized by the guards Parr speaks up, " Can I help you lads?"

( Parr was unarmed, just thieves tools)
She waits patiently in her cell hoping Joorin and Windarë made it to the rendezvous in time and listening for signs that they didn't.....
