How do you like it at the casino?” Sinak plies the guard with questions as they are walking, keeping the conversation going, and noting which way they are going, trying to recall the map.

"I can't! We're not fish, no gills, so we can't even breathe it in. See? Even the bartender thinks it's a hazard, so, ha," Sorith replies, pausing to blow a short raspberry at Falkas before turning her attention to the mug of ale that had been set in front of her. "Lava sounds far worse, yep. I'd rather drown than burn to death, but neither are pleasant. So, I'll choose to live, thanks."

He is OK and may stand a chance. Jetta Moore has childlike enthusiasm and displays guileless naiveté, but seems very lucky. Karn Ironpebble grumbles to himself, counts cards, and is deliberately slow at playing his hands, he is good and has beaten me in the past. Lahdia Mizreem is a Drow, she is a bit aloof, inscrutable, and fiercely determined to win. Nightshade is a Tiefling and therefore the crowd here like him. Ruthie Swifford is a determined, no-nonsense player who keeps up a constant stream of good-natured chatter. He is old school and I like him. Whipp Walsh is a charming rake and a sore loser, I don’t see him going far. Wumpus Thistledown dislikes playing high bets and is condescending. I think he is low on funds because he is such a loser.”

Quentin opens the door, he is a middle aged gnome with a Mephistophelian aspect to his appearance. He dresses garishly, slicks back his wavy hair, curls his mustache, and cultivates a long, pointy beard. Only the freckles across his nose undermine his devilish countenance.
“What's this about a TR issue?” he asks Har-Lin-Qu and Sinak
Right before walking into the room, Sinak says to Har-Lin-Qu, “I’m so thirsty! Nothing on that boat to drink swabbed the whole deck without so much of a cold beer or a swig of water! I’m parched! Let me knock back this refreshing beverage I have here, give meself a little liquid courage before the big interview, right?” (*wink at Har-Lin-Qu and a grin.) Sinak downs his potion of guidance.
Then, walking into the room, setting down his mop and bucket and leaning on them, after the question is asked by Quentin :
“Oh yeah, a serious TR issue. Or could be a serious TR issue, you never know. If the inspectors come round. Hello sir, my name is Sinak. Pleased to meetcha.” (Wipes hand on his cloak and extends, with hope). “Rode up here on the boat with Captain Thread, I hope he put in a good word for me! I heard that you were hiring up here, and I’m the best dangnabit janitor that you’ve seen this side of Hades! As I was telling ole Well’ard here in the main room there, the winds and the tides are changin’. You have a diverse lot that comes to you of their free will to spend their coin, gamblin away their hard earned money on this game, or that. And it is all kinds, right? All I’m saying is that you are a little(he pauses and lets his glance stray briefly to their horns, then back to Quentin’s eyes) a little homogenous around here, if you know what I mean. If you want to attract all kinds of folks, from your littlest halfling to your biggest goliath, well, then, you need to employ various kinds of people in your establishment, to be more welcoming like. Or, some people could say, that you are putting some species down, and lifting only Tieflings up. If you know what I mean. And add a little something extra to the place, adding a little something different to your roster of employees. I know that I am but a humble drow, but I wield a mean mop. And I can help you, to keep this place spick and span. Just ask Captain Thread. I was hoping to earn some good tips here, it’s really what you would call a win-win situation, that’s what we have here. So, what do you say? Can I be on your team, Quentin?”
If there is any sheet of paper on Quentin’s desk, Sinak picks it up and writes on it, using a piece of charcoal and he hangs it over the door. He turns around and grins at Quentin.
Quentin sits down at his desk and breaks down in tears “I know, I know. It wasn’t meant to be like this. I was trying to do a good thing. I’m a Gnome and people look down on us, but that is nothing compared to Tieflings. Everyone treats them like scum and no-one trusts them and wants to employ them. I thought that putting in a bit of positive discrimination was the answer, you know only employ Tieflings and prove what they are capable of. But it all went wrong, TR and the guilds got involved. Don’t even ask about the other sacrifices I have had to make.” Quentin looks over to a picture of him playing with a pet goat and bursts into more sobs. Har-Lin-Qu comes over and pats Quentin on the back “It’s OK boss, you tried to do a good thing. But politics is hell, and Hell’s politics is even worse. You couldn’t have known.”

Sinak stands there with a smile on his face and a positive attitude as the two share a moment, and while he lets them finish (and they appear distracted for a second), without moving an inch he lets his eyes glance over Quentin’s desk, looking for any spare access keycards, if the opportunity arises. Then he quickly goes back to attention on Quentin.

Elovar has a pretty good memory for people and stories, and he pictures each player as Douala describes them. Finally, Elovar laughs and says, "Thank you for the insight, Douala! I'll be interested to see how accurate your assessment is. You've certainly shown that one can take the player out of the game, but one can never take the game out of the player." (He almost said "gambler," but he doesn't remember how much the Countess knows about Douala's past.)
Assuming that the Countess and Douala are not headed back to the tournament room and that Chrys is also done talking for now, Elovar wraps up the conversation. "It was good to see you again, but I don't want to keep you both here when you should be enjoying everything on offer here. Maybe we can catch up more later? Until then, may luck tilt the games ever in your favor...unless, of course, I'm also playing!"
Next, Elovar would like to go with Chrys to the tournament room so that they can find out more about the tournament and get a look at the statue.
