Steps lead to the sunken floor of a gambling haven ringed with pillars of black basalt. Seven three-dragon ante tables take up the floorspace. A three-foot-high shelf carved into the far wall bears a glass case, displayed in which is a gold statuette. Standing next to the display case is a tiefling security guard

Sinak waits a few minutes, then softly clears his throat. *Ahem* “So, uh, in light of that … does that mean that I have the job? I will make you proud, Quentin. Just show me the contract and I’ll sign, give me your orientation packet and so forth and point me in the right direction. You want this place clean and humming like a well oiled machine, I’m here to help with that. Before we get too far, I guess that I do need to bring up the mundane matter of finances, pay and so forth. How much is the salary? Whatever it is, to get my foot in the door so to speak, I agree! I know you’ll be satisfied with my work and everything else will follow. Yes sir!”
Sinak holds out his piece of charcoal, ready to sign any contract if it is produced, signing in broad, clumsy strokes - -

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Are Sorith and Falkas joining up with anyone else or going straight to the tournament?
Falkas will see if anyone else is heading that way and if he sees Elovar and Chrys he'll meet up with them to let them know that he's gonna try and join if he can. "We've got time, plus if I win big I might get invited to the back or can keep them distracted with how good I am at the game so others can finish what they need to."

Through his sobs Quentin says “Yeah, sure, why not. It’s out of my hands now. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” With that Quentin opens a draw and takes out a goat skull. He rubs the top of the skull and a flaming doorway appears in the middle of the room. On it are big letters that state “Department of Tiefling Resources. You are Just Resources to Us”

When Sinak sees the portal appear, he realizes where it leads, and he starts to sweat. With 90% true fear and 10% feigned fear, he starts to backpedal slightly. “Uh… wait a minute. You are just warning me now. That’s uh… that’s a little too much for me. Perhaps I could just work on a part time basis with you? Fill in, if someone is sick, here or there?” Takes a step backward. “I’’m just … I’m frightened about what is through there, of going to a different plane of existence,(of going to hell, he thinks)… that’s all. Maybe I should just…. Maybe I should just spend some more time in the casino, right? Get to know the place a little more before I take such a big step? You understand, right?” Sinak takes another cautious step backward. “Oh, what the heck, where is my mop? I must have set it down somewhere….” Hand on the door handle now….

"Maybe you could arm wrestle somebody for their spot?" Sorith suggests to Falkas with a shrug. "Other than that, beats me, I'm not much of an idea person."
((Sorry, I've been following, but I feel like Sorith doesn't really have much to contribute at the moment.))
Falkas jumps at the sound of her voice, getting startled as he was studying the people. "What? No, you would have to sub in for me, but I would still be the one to take the spot at the table."

Sorith, or anyone else, could try an approach that appeals to those who like to show off and gamble. You can use the information that El has or and insight check to determine who would be most perceptible to an arm wrestle or another challenge. You would then then to challenge someone and perform a persuasion or intimidation check. Anyone with dice or another gaming set could try that instead. Generally speaking I would say that the character who wins a challenge enters the tournament and cannot sub.

Falkas looks at Sorith, Elovar and Chrys, "Anyone got any ideas? I might."He says as he starts walking through the room having no idea at all. He stops at the first person who seems to be having a rough time at the tournament or at least has poor bluffing skills and when there's a break in playing he nods at the poor soul, motioning them over, "I'm a professional player that frequents these kinds of tournaments and my specialty is to help out someone who is on the cusp of winning, but just isn't quite there. I can help you win, not by teaching you, but by taking your place and all I ask is a mere portion of your winnings."He grins.
