Reed, able to block out the noise of his friends, sticks his arrow solidly into the black suit of armor, and then opens the door behind him and hides. Luckily, no imp attacks.. Slobberchops watches him curiously.
Virro's crossbow bolt hit it's target, but just as with Reed's connection, the foe appears to have resistance to it.
Corlith's words do however penetrate and he falters a bit. And as he does, Archie pushes him down the stairs once more, landing him prone at the bottom.
Roo's javelin goes wide, and Reya pulls out her crossbow. Her first bolt also goes wide, but the second finds purchase, if only to make the tiniest bit of damage (1 dam lol). The black suit of armor is starting to look a bit rough, but that orange flame inside has not diminished a bit.
Wilfred charges forward. "Alright everyone, we got it on the ropes! Let's do this!"
He spoke his glaive at it's arm, a solid hit but not quite as deep as he wanted. He steps forward and follows up with the butt of the glaive, which makes a resounding thud....on the bannister. "Well, shit." He says as he looks into it's eyes. He backs up the stairs. "Maybe I should have just kept shoving it?"
Action: to hit 25, damage 5
Bonus: to hit 9, damage 8
Movement: down to the creature, then back up the stairs as far as he can go.
Reed looks at his arrow in his hand and decides to hang on to it. This armor thing has some sort of magic going that is limiting what Reed can do here. He does feel the flasks of alchemist’s fire shift in his pouch.
He looks over at Slobberchops.
”I don’t think we’re ready to burn the mansion down just yet. And besides that guy looks to be made of fire.”
Instead Reed looks around the balcony and spots the window to the next room. He walks over there and takes a look inside.
Virro considers and lifts his right hand up, pointing toward the ceiling. A bolt of light heads down toward the suit of armor. He waits to see the effect.
Sacred flame : DC 13 Dex save, or take 3 points of radiant damage.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Seeing Wilfred once again in dire straights, Corlith decides to take matters into his own hands and try to get close to the suit of armour to distract it.
"Hold on Wilfred, I'm coming to help".
Climbing up onto the banister, he looks to slide down, but completely misjudges it and he tumbles off as he passes Wilfred and lands on the floor below, turning his ankle.
"Ooph, not my finest moment", he says sheepishly, the tanned skin of his face going a little red. "Come on then, let's see what you've got", he says to the armour and backs away from it and lowers his shield. It takes a swipe at him, connecting soundly but the shimmering cold surrounding him seems to absorb it and reflect it back at the armour.
He raises his hand and sends another wave of frost at the armour for good measure, but the faux iron maiden's flame had already petered out and it had simply dropped to the floor like a heap of scrap metal.
"It seems you've not got much", he says scornfully.
Acrobatics (to slide down the banister): 2+3=5 (DC13 - fail) - takes 1 damage Movement: Down the banister and away from the suit of armour Special: Takes 7 damage, armor of agathys does 10 [cold] to the armour Action: ray of frost at Armour - To hit: 5+7=12 (miss)
As the armour stops moving Archie bounds down the stairs and investigates the corpse (18 investigation), attempting to remove the outer armour, she seems frantic, "I've never seen something like this before aside from me, this might hold some answers, help me here!"
Reed saunters out into the hallway from the balcony.
"Stairs going up to the tower in that room," Reed says, pointing with a thumb to the room next to the balcony. "How's it going out here?"
He peers over the balcony, down at the now inanimate animated suit of armor and nods.
"You're going to have a heck of time getting fingers off that one," he says to Virro.
Reed goes over to the doorway that was east of the top of the stairs (I think this was the one the armor came out of?) and takes a look in side (assuming the armor didn't close the door behind itself).
Corlith wanders over to Archie and looks down at the other suit of armour.
"I am not sure I am the right person to help there, although I will remind you this is a house full of fiends, so this might be some kind of devil rather than what you are", he says, placing a hand on her shoulder and and helping her focus.
With that done, he makes his way back upstairs. "You look terrible, Wilf", he says as he passes. "Best you rest for a little".
Once upstairs, he will go to find Reed, making sure he is not searching the rest of the floor alone.
Reed pops his head back out from the room he was just looking in.
"Looks like the lady of the house hangs out here," Reed says with a smile. "And maybe some valuables too."
He pops back in and makes his way to the vanity table, looking around for other doorways and the like, before poking around in all the little goodies on top of the table looking for something of value.
He casts an eye over at the three chests as well, but sticks to the vanity for now.
Spotting Reed come out and then go back in, Corlith follows him back into the Duke's room.
"Interesting, if she wasn't downstairs and she isn't in here, where she? The staff were under the impression she was here, right?", he asks a little perplexed. "Well, I guess there might be answers in those chests. You fancy opening them? I can give you some protection in case they are dangerous", he offers, touching Reed on the shoulder and granting the offered protection.
Archie finishes searching the now flameless armour tearing the chest plate off of it, but finds nothing but some rune markings on the inside. She copies the marking into the back cover of some religious Book she picked up somewhere and then closes it, "well this thing is useless, let's go." She states kicking the armour off to one side.
Reya gets a look of concern on her face, "Well, if the Duke isn't around here, maybe Thurstwell knows? I sure hope we can find Thavius, The Duke has to know where he is." She looks towards the bedroom they left him in, "Speaking of, did we want to tie him up before he wakes? I don't want to be attacked by him again. Who knows, the little squirt may just be able to conjure up those damn imps."
As Reed slips Slobberchops another treat the winged cat starts purring and follows Reed into the next room.
Reed gestures at the door to the south in the room he's in now.
"There are stairs heading up in that room," Reed says. "Maybe a library."
Then he gestures to the door to the north.
"The grand old duke could be in there," Reed says.
He points out a couple of vials on the vanity table.
"Anyone hurting?" Reed asks. "Those two are healing potions."
He sweeps a collection of goods off the vanity and into a pouch - several bottles of perfume, a silver hairbrush inlaid with lapis lazuli, jewelry box , and platinum cameo shaped like a winged cat.
He holds up the cameo and shows Slobberchops. "Hey this is you."
After that he turns to the chests and does a quick check for traps (13 if perception, 8 if investigation).
Trusting in his own search and then Corlith's magic as a back up on the remote chance he missed something, Reed flips open the three chests, leaning a little back when he does.
Reed peeks over the edge of the chests, frowns then laughs.
He shows the others what's there: one chest is full of shoes, another contains three old bridal gowns, and the third contains seasonal hats.
"So valuable stuff they leave out in the open over there," Reed says, pointing at the vanity where he collected a small fortune, "but in chests they keep old clothes? Must be nice to be really rich."
Virro peers over Reeds shoulder and gets excited when the chest of hats is opened. He looks for a hat that would be worn during Marpenoth or Uktar, something dark and spooky. “Cool! They put some cool stuff in here…”. He’s pulling the hats out and finding one he likes.

"Wilfred looked like he could use some healing", Corlith replies to Reed as he walks through the room towards the stairs that were pointed out. "Ok, let's finish the sweep before we get too comfortable", he says and ascends the stairs.
Before he reaches the very top, he will stop to listen for any noise up there.
"Psst, Reed", Corlith whispers, ducking his head down the stairs so he can see into the room. When it appears Reed can't hear him, he points at the halfling and whispers again, "There are noises coming from up here, get the others please".
