Xoben smiles, "I'm all set friends..I'm up for the task too. Let's go get this recipe. It may give us a chance to see how best we work together under pressure. I'll prefer to cast spells from a distance when possible. Let's get the rest of you geared up and ready to go. I'll tag along with you."

Once everyone has gathered their gear, and met up at the designated departure site, you head out. It is a beautiful day, and as you don't seem to be under a time constraint, it is an easy ride. You follow the road to the mouth of the Dessarin River, and can either travel along the river and around the Ardeep Forest, or push right through. The travel time appears to be similar, so it is just a personal preference.

"We should take the river way. It will avoid the worst of the dangers and shouldn't take us any extra time,"Fianna offers while running a soothing hand down the filly Artax's neck.
"It'd be a shame to get slaughtered by wolves before we have the chance to be murdered by goblins," she quips with a grin.
Rolas only catches part of Fianna's words, as he crouches on all fours at the bank with his head submerged in the cool waters of the Dessarin. His armour, clearly of primitive orcish make if the amount of fur and animal teeth adorning the battered chainmail is any indication, is just as ill-suited to a sunny summer's day as his finery.
He shakes the water off his face and hair with a satisfied groan and splashes a little more over himself before he gets up and remounts his horse. "Much as the shade would be welcome I must concur. Out here we would have clear line of sight for advancing foes, whereas a forest is a prime site for an ambush."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the party continues along the river, Fianna starts to hum to herself. Eventually, the humming becomes soft singing in Elvish, increasing slightly in volume with each new melody until she is eventually singing loud enough for the others to hear.

The path along the river is quiet, even peaceful. As you leave the main road, wildlife becomes more prominent. You are easily able to find a nice place to camp for the night. The next morning is crisp, and much of your gear is wet with a light covering of morning dew, but it looks to be another beautiful day, so drying it should pose no problem.
Another day of traveling upriver, and you see you are around the edge of the woods known as the Ardeep Forest. Turning eastward, you head towards your final destination. It gets dark as you close in, so you decide to camp along the edge of the forest, and it is another uneventful night. You are now getting close to the area of the bakery. In fact, you think you can just make it out in the distance.

"Numbers," says Rolas, sitting high in his saddle to peer at the blurry shapes of buildings in the distance. "Numbers are my first concern. If it's been years since the town was overtaken, could well be an entire warren of goblins laying in wait. On the other hand, it may well be the bulk of them have long since moved on to new hunting grounds. Reconnaissance is the name of the game here! As the ancient battlemasters of Shou Lung say, If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles."
Xorben adds, "I'm as quiet as a herd of hyena's." pointing to his armor. "I'll bring up the rear or wait here for when the scouts figure out our plan."

Fianna knows there are dangers with both routes, but the river's edge is likely to be a little safer. Strange things lurk in the deep dark woods...

"Agreed, lets follow the river" says Bram as he takes some time to let the horse drink some water before continuing on.
Xorben nods, “Agreed. Shall we.”

Fianna glances from Xorben to the chainmail clad Half-Orc then dismounts Artax with a sigh.
"Coming with?" she asks Bram.
"Yep lets see who is home" says Bram as he follows the party
Fianna looks from Bram to her armoured companions.
"Maybe the two of you should stay here with the mounts, until we have a better idea of what we're up against."
"Do you have a way to signal them if we need help," she asks Bram.
"Well I can use minor illusion to make a 5ft wide signal, maybe an arrow or a very loud sound" says Bram
