Noticing the small group of children, Navi loop de loops back over the children. "All you need is a little faith, trust, and a little pixie dust!" She chimes, echoing Fynn's words to her earlier as she unloads a bag of pixie dust causing it to rain over the kids before swirling and twirling her way about.
"Yeah, sure..." Faelan trails off slightly, for he's not so sure about meeting the bosses. Suddenly a familiar friend flies by. "Ohh Luz, where did ya go?" The still miffed mote of light bob around. "Whatdaya mean not tellin'? Ohh, right! Ahh I ain't ready yet." He turns around to the others. "Ahhh fellas. Whatevah y'all doing, we gotta do it quick. Cause we, ya know, me and Luz here, gotta go to the Big Top soon. We man one of the spotlight of the stage."

(Sorry for the delay, people. I had a very long and exciting weekend.)
Having determined that there is no time like the present to confront the Carnival directors, Faelan leads the way. It is only a short distance from the group's current location to a high hedge that abuts the back of the Big Top. During the short trip, Faelan explains to Flynn that although the harengon himself has indeed been granted a day-off, he hasn't decided whether to abdicate his duties to another - and besides, Luz doesn't get the day off, and she still needs to light the show, and doesn't like working without her leporine friend. (Faelan: you can choose whether or not you are involved in the Big Top event in a professional capacity.)
The group of children raise their eyes and hands in wonder as a shower of sparkling pixie dust rains down from on high. Usually sufficient for only one grown person, nevertheless the dust seems adequate to grant the power of flight to the whole group, albeit with a somewhat limited and relatively safe altitude. With squeals of delight, the children levitate into the air, some flapping their arms, some kicking their legs, and one simply tumbling over and over in backwards somersaults. One calls out to (thankfully) absent parents, while two begin to take up a rhythmic chant of "Faif, Twust, an Pixie Dust! Faif, Twust, an Pixie Dust!" As the giggling group go gliding away, Navi hears Flynn's bird call, pointing the adrift-prone fey to her companions' current location... (Navi: You are able to locate and rejoin the rest of the party, if you choose.)
Zeg, Flynn and Faelan stand beside the hedge. It reaches twenty feet into the air and is five feet thick and full of thorns. Enclosed within, and somewhat obscured by the hedge but still visible on the other side, is a ring of eight brightly-painted wagons, one of which is a glass-enclosed water tank. Faelan has been inside the hedge only a few times before, but he knows the means of passage. As the harengon hops to within a foot of the hedge, the thorns begin to magically part, until they form an 8-foot-high, 4-foot-wide doorway.
Flynn looks up as a group of children float overhead, just a little higher than the top of the hedge, chanting "Faif, Twust, and Pixie Dust!" and he recalls having recited a longer variation of that phrase earlier today.

Navi floats along as if carried from Palasha’s melody and ported through to Flynn’s bird call. Her eyes are wide with curiosity as she lowers herself atop the bard’s head. “So what’d I miss?” She’d offer an innocent smile in regards to the floating children if looked her way.
(Faelan figures that if needed, the best place to be is high up in the Big Top, for it has the best view of the place!)

Faelan knows that the trailer Mr Witch and Mr Light occupy is on the far side of the circle. He also knows that most Carnival personnel aren't authorised to be in the wagon compound during Carnival hours... and certainly not visitors! The harengon's sharp senses also detect the mildly unpleasant scent of a hobgoblin nearby, as well as some quiet guttural singing in a goblinoid baritone....

Peeking around the edge of the hedge doorway, Faelan sees a familiar figure stroll into view. It isn't a hobgoblin... It is a bugbear! Burly the Bugbear, in fact, who is another of the Witchlight hands. (Bugbears usually smell worse, hence the confusion about the species.) He wears fairy wings like all those attending the Carnival, as well as a pair of faded and patched dungarees, and a kind of helmet made from a pumpkin. He doesn't seem to be aware of Faelan and the others, as his gaze is firmly fixed on a book that he holds up close to his face, the contents of which seem to be what he is singing about. Apparently Burly is on patrol, but isn't currently very vigilant in his duties...
Burly is about 60' away and not paying attention.

Faelan is not exactly sure how to answer Flynn's question, but he is clearly embarrassed that he did not recognize his friend's scent. "Ahhh... Not sure..." He gestures for everyone to stay put, as he walks towards the Bugbear. "Heya Burly buddy. What's happenin'? How come yer not outside makin's sure people don't come in?"

Navi sniffs at the air, then wiggles her nose. While the others have interest in Burly the Bugbear, the little fairy drifts about. She starts smelling around to see if she can actually pick up a scent of a hobgoblin, or if it genuinely was just a better smelling bugbear. Her friends did find a Kenku that sounded like someone else, so why not someone who looks like someone else? Should he actually be legit, she’d mosey about to see if she could ‘accidentally’ find her way inside while the others engage with the guard.
As Faelan moves toward the approaching bugbear, Flynnlistens to the murmured tune. Although he can't understand the words, the astute bard recognises that there is a distinct meter and a kind of rhyme about it. Combined with the simplicity of the tune, Flynn concludes that the bugbear is using music as an aid to memorise poetry. Presumably the book he carries is a book of poems, and he is reading them to a made-up tune in order to better remember them.
Despite Faelan's best efforts to befriend everyone working at the Carnival, there are so many hands with such a variety of personalities (and scents) that it is a challenge to remember them all. Burly looks up as Faelan approaches and replies: Oh! Hi there... uh... Velvetears, right? No, I only patrol the exterior perimeter during the first hour of Carnival operations. Subsequently, I relocate to the staff area, and monitor the intervening space betwixt the hedge and the wagons. Listening to the bugbear attempting to articulate some of the more difficult vocabulary, Faelan recalls that Burly likes to practice the big words he's learned from reading poetry. Isn't today your leave day? Why do you not go out and see the world, but linger here?
Zegremains at the hedge entrance and watches the initial exchange between Burly and Faelan. The conversation is a good thirty feet away, and the bugbear is busy with conversation, so Zeg knows it would still be possible for a small owlin to slip by unnoticed. (Make a Stealth check if Zeg decides to do so. Roll with advantage, which I will apply if any other circumstances engage Burly further.)
Navitests her olfactory senses, but concludes that there are definitely no hobgoblin odors, but only the lingering scent of the DM's brain-fart. [Burly is a bugbear, not a hobgoblin, okay? Read your notes, dude!] However, the little fairy is delighted to see small bubbles floating lazily into the air from within the circle of the caravans. The temptation is too great to resist, and the fairy meanders inward to see... (Make a Stealth check, with advantage, which will be applied if appropriate. Normally Navi gets disadvantage due to the scale mail, but since she is 'getting lost' it's more of a WIS check than a DEX check, so I'll say that the armor rule doesn't apply.)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
[Very fair. I did consider that possibility! All guilty of it. But also provided opportunity for internal dialogue of a wandering neurodivergent like Navi :)]
Bubbles! With great internal glee, Navi is drawn to the bubbles like a moth to flame. Of course she wanted to float amongst them, and touch one!
Zeg decides to boldly seek this opportunity to get past the guard with the bugbear enagaged with Faelan. He flies past trying to stick to the shadows and go as quietly and as unseen as possible. Just as he takes off he whispers a spell of guidance on himself.
"Hey I couldn't help but listen to your tune my friend. And tho I don't get the words I think I see what you are trying to do?" He takes out the bird pipes again. "Listen to this it might make your project slightly easier"
