Unfortunately, as with most enclosed, spiral staircases, you really can't get a good sense of what is past the first turn or so. However, as you concentrate, you think you hear a very faint ringing sound, not unlike a hammer on an anvil, echoing softly up from below.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Somehow, during your close investigation of the floor, your wings manage to drag on the ground as you crouch and turn, looking for the clues , effectively brushing away the foot prints that you previously discovered. However, you are unaware of this fact and the disappearance of the footprints perplexes you.

While the team is investigating I will take 10 min to renew my ritual version of detect magic if there is time to do so. If not, I will keep watch on the stairs
((There is plenty of time to do that while people are looking around.))
For Peren:
While inspecting the marble basin, you notice a blueish stain that has marked the stone, likely from some sort of liquid that has been held here often over the years. Also there is a faint alchemical scent emanating from the stain if you get real close.
For Kathra:
Both the dais and the basin show signs of dwarven craftsmanship, though very old. You are pretty sure if you look around you might find another of those builder's marks that identifies this room.

The carvings seem to depict a ritual of some kind, but parts of the arcane writings appear to be missing or worn away. All you are able to deduce is that it definitely involves sapphire?

Once I am done casting detect magic I will go back to the room, tell Peren of the noise downstairs and ask him if he wants to sneak down and investigate. I will then look around seeing what magical auras I see in this room and share that w the group
There is some extremely old and somewhat faint magical auras emanating from the basin. Maybe transmutation magic mixed with some other indecipherable auras. It's hard to tell for sure.

They do, though the orb liquid is much fresher and of a slightly different construction. It was certainly not made here in this basin and maybe a different process was used to make it, but it feels magically similar.

Yeah, there are just too many arcane runes and pictogram murals on the walls to find the more specific dwarven markings that you know should be here somewhere. The pictures, however, tell an interesting tale. They depict blue-skulled robed figures leading a procession of sorts of smaller humanoids to a dais similar to the one in this room. There, one of the smaller figures kneels down and seems to be drinking from a cup filled with blue liquid that is being handed to it by one of the skulled figured. There is some sort of picture where several of the smaller figures are sitting in some sort of meditation pose? Some of the figures have what looks like a bluish radiance surrounding their heads. You're not quite sure what to make of it.

Mub will look harder at the scuffs in the floor dust just to see if he can get a feel as to the size of the one who made it.
(as in if it was a dwarf or half-ling or what ever)

Gavin will let the team investigate while I keep an eye on the staircase
(ninjas !)
Investigation = 10
Kathra will ponder the dais and the basin. Does it also appear to be of dwarven make?

Mirabel studies the carvings as well. Perhaps there is some kind of spell hidden within?
Arcana: 17
Peren will ask Mirabel to come over and check out the blue stain on the basin

Does the basin remnants seem to match what the orb liquid is?
They do, though the orb liquid is much fresher and of a slightly different construction. It was certainly not made here in this basin and maybe a different process was used to make it, but it feels magically similar.
((Does it seem similar to what was used to join the spell platters back together based on the auras?))
No, that was a different process for a different purpose that happens to use similar base materials (sapphires).
Kathra will look for any kind of marking that describes what the room's original purpose was.
Investigation: 17
