At Gavin's question, Korm sort of scratches his head. "Oh, you know, just some magical energy bursts here and there. I'm more of a researcher, so most of my stuff is....proprietary. I worked out how to manifest a spectral weapon a while back that can do a bit of fighting for me. That was handy."

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Gavin looks at his friends “Proprietary huh? That doesn’t instill a lot trust.”
He then looks at Peren, and asks him to sit down for a moment. He looks at his bug bites and assumes he has dire fleas like Korm. He casts lesser restoration on him, hopefully healing him of his affliction. “How’s that feel?”
The Seree stone amulets seem decently made and about as safe as one could expect for effectively being a chunk of magical uranium radiating untested magical energies. On the plus side, you've had a similar stone in your pocket for the better part of a day now and don't appear to be suffering any ill effects and those dwarves that wore similar charms back in Rockmount hadn't seemed to be mutating in any noticeable way. You'd give these items about an 8/10 by wizarding safety standards.
For Peren and Gavin (and anyone else who is paying attention):
Gavin's divine ministrations appear to greatly ease Peren's splotchy rash. You're pretty sure with a good rest in a clean non-flea infested environment, Peren should make a full recovery.
After another one of Korm’s comments that seem deliberately deceptive. Gavin sighs, looks at Kathra, Peren, Mirabel and Mub giviving them a wink that Korm cannot see. He then moves towards Korm so he isn’t bunched up around his friends or in a straight line with them. “Korm, I must say that a lot of the information and answers to our questions you have given don’t exactly seem 100% forthright. Before I am comfortable helping you gain the power of this spell engine, which could be dangerous in the wrong hands, I wonder if you wouldn’t mind if I ask you a couple more questions to ensure we are assisting the right kind of person. I hope you don’t mind the extra precaution.”
Korms eyes narrow at the assertion. "You sure do ask a lot of questions. Ain't I been inviting enough to you folks who've come in poking around my research? Ain't I been nice and brought you food...let you stay for the night? Ain't we had a deal of good pay for good work....halfs which you already got up front outta my good will? And still you's got questions and mistrust? What game are you playing Handy Band?"
Both of the vault servants noticeably shift from a neutral stance to a more defensive formation flanking Korm's sides imposingly.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
“Well would you not agree that if this engine fell into the wrong hands it could be disastrous for innocents, especially the local population? I am all for research and finding secrets that are long lost. But, not at any expense. You have been down here a while with no one to talk to but your constructs. All we are doing is having a healthy and reasonable conversation, no?”
The arcane force of Korm's Command hits your senses like a runaway cart. You feel the compulsion overtake you as you begin to turn and walk into the room with the Spell Engine.
For everyone else:
Korm's words seem to cow your previously unshakable leader. You see Gavin straighten and turn, heading into the crackling energy of the room beyond.

Peren will agree to Korm helping, but will keep an eye on him.
“What kind of magical help from you can we expect? It would help us plan our strategy”
I grab one of the stones, and give the other two to Mirabel. Gavin whispers to him, “Are these safe to use at least temporarily?”
((Do I notice Korm wearing one of these stones on his person?)) Perception: 12
For Gavin:
He is either not wearing one, or has one secreted away somewhere on his person that you cannot see.
I need an Arcana check from Mirabel.
((Did Korm ignore my question of what kind of help he brings to the table?))
((I want to murder Korm so baaaaad))
((No, I just got called away and didn't have enough to time to write his response. I'll add it here soon.))

Mirabel takes a look at the stones.
Arcana: 17
Peren thanks Gavin and says “I hope that works”

Mirabel shrugs, flipping the stones to Gavin and Kathra. "Seems legit."

"What you're going to do is finish the job I hired you for and then be on your way." Korm says angrily. "Now go!"
((I assume some stuff may be happening now, but before we get into that, I need Gavin to make a Wisdom save for me.))
((No whammies, no whammies!))
Wisdom saving throw: 21
((Aww, so close.))

Peren will follow Gavin closely to make sure he does not do anything harmful to himself. And says quietly to himself "Krom is going to die for this"
Kathra is not inclined to let Korm live for this, and says so. Loudly. Via charging Korm and swinging her axe.
Attack: 26 Damage: 10
((Sorry y'all but barbarians gotta barbarian))
EDIT: Apparently I get two attacks per action now, so here's another one.
Attack: 25 Damage: 7
((DAMN))
