"This was a sapphire mine once." Kathra says to nobody in particular. Then she notices the hidden chamber and waves Peren over. "Hey, there's a chamber over here I don't think they wanted anyone to find." Without waiting for him to catch up, she peeks inside the chamber.
The room seems to be a small offshoot from the main mining area. There seems to be something stacked up in the far corner under an old tarp or blanket of some kind.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Underneath the tarp you find a pile of jackal skulls. It looks like about thirty or so of them. Also a small pile of what look like mechanical pulleys shaped like arms that end in sharp sword and axe blades.
Maybe? I mean the weird arm pulleys looks like attachments or something, but the jackal skulls are weird. All the suits of armor that you've seen wandering around have had humanoid skulls. You're not sure what's so special about theses that they'd have to be hidden away here.

If you crack open the jackal skulls, you'll find about twenty walnut-sized Wizard Flowers. All of them are faintly magical, but under close inspection, none of them seem to be linked to any particular spell or aura.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
It's likely from an altered form of the alchemical solution. These smaller Wizards Flowers are fairy rudimentary, so it's possible that this was more of a preservative mixture for some purpose, or those who were experimenting on these jackals were trying to grow magical regents for spell components in a most unethical way. There are, of course other reasons this could happen, but you're having a hard time pinning down a logical through-line that would lead to them.

The room seems to be a small offshoot from the main mining area. There seems to be something stacked up in the far corner under an old tarp or blanket of some kind.
Peren will carefully look under the tarp
Underneath the tarp you find a pile of jackal skulls. It looks like about thirty or so of them. Also a small pile of what look like mechanical pulleys shaped like arms that end in sharp sword and axe blades.
Kathra stares at the skulls, arm pulleys, and blades for a while. "Is this what someone has been making those golem folks with?"
Investigation: 2
((Back to form))
For Kathra:
Maybe? I mean the weird arm pulleys looks like attachments or something, but the jackal skulls are weird. All the suits of armor that you've seen wandering around have had humanoid skulls. You're not sure what's so special about theses that they'd have to be hidden away here.
Peren says “maybe someone was trying to make a secret army”
He will pick up one of the skulls and shake it, to see if anything is inside
((Anything radiating magic in that pile?))
((Yes, the pile of skulls.))
When Peren picks up one of the skulls and gives it a shake, there is a familiar rattling sound inside.
“Hmmm maybe the things that are killed by the wizard flowers make them able to be reanimated? Let’s fix that future problem.”
I will check the skulls with Peren and take any more of the wizard flowers we find
((I will assume my detect magic spell has run its course. Won’t cast another for now))
If you crack open the jackal skulls, you'll find about twenty walnut-sized Wizard Flowers. All of them are faintly magical, but under close inspection, none of them seem to be linked to any particular spell or aura.
((I will pocket them as souvenirs, we can split them up later))
“I say lets check out that other hole?” Gavin says to the other party members
((Oh wait there’s still another room here we haven’t looked at))
((The second hole is a major feature of the other room you haven't looked at yet.))
Mirabel pockets the chaos gem (I'm so sorry) and follows the group into the pit, then into the next room.
"Weird that they were growing these inside animals," he muses. "I wonder how they pulled that off..."
Arcana: 9
For Mirabel:
It's likely from an altered form of the alchemical solution. These smaller Wizards Flowers are fairy rudimentary, so it's possible that this was more of a preservative mixture for some purpose, or those who were experimenting on these jackals were trying to grow magical regents for spell components in a most unethical way. "Whoever was here, they were doing some wildly inappropriate things to the local wildlife."
