Other than the alcove with the now spectral chest, the only other magic in this room appears to be associated with gear the party is already wearing or in possession of.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Peren's Mage Hand slips into the alcove in attempt to lift out the chest. However, after a few seconds it becomes quite apparent that the arcane hand can't seem to interact with the chest in its current form.
For Mirabel:
Examining the glowing bloody runes around the alcove, and comparing that with what you know about some planar physics, you are pretty sure that the chest has been whisked into the Ethereal Plane or some other similar demi-plane. If you could find Korm's notes on how he managed this mystical feat, you might be able to reverse it?

"Well, something in that chest must be valuable, because that trap shifted it to the ethereal plane." He looks around. "If we can find his notes, I might be able to reverse the spell."
Kathra will go ahead and search too, although her instinct would be to leave the damn chest alone. Magic nonsense from mad ogre mages is probably no good.
Mirabel and Gavin begin to fruitlessly search the room once again, turning over supplies and looking under tables to no avail. Kathra, however, notices something a little out of place that she didn't quite see during her previous search of the room.
For Kathra:
As you begin searching around the room once more, your dwarven masonry senses tingle a bit. This room should most certainly have one of those ancient design markers labeling it as the forge, or the heart of this complex. It would be bordering on sacrilegious to not honor such a room during the construction phase, yet you can't seem to find it. As you move over to the hearth-fire, you see that one of the stones that makes up the area above the mantle has been recently removed and place back again....backwards? There's some light masonry that is crumbling around the loose brick.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Kathra frowns at the brick. It's clearly hiding something, but the odds are high that the previous occupant probably did something dumb and magical to it when he put the brick back. She waves to Mirabel as he pokes about the room. "Hey, come make sure this brick isn't enchanted to blow up in my face or anything before I pull it out, could you?"
((I’m assuming when I was using detect magic, that area was not giving off an aura? If so, I let Kathra know))
((That is correct.))
Peren walks over to the hearth and applies his tools and knowledge to the masonry around the brick. Confident that there are no serious dangers, and after waving his friends away to a safe distance just in case, the rogue manifests his Mage Hand and directs it over to the remove the stone. Everyone holds their breath as the brick scrapes its way out of the hole revealing an empty area behind. In the shadows of the niche you see a small notebook.

Pouring over the notes, you find the spot that details the security ritual at work here. You're positive that you can reverse it with minimal effort, and may do so at your leisure.

As Peren is looking at the chest figuring out what to do, I will scan the rest of the room before detect magic runs out

Ok i will try to pick up the chest with mage hand and move it out to where we can open it.
((i hope it is not locked in between planes))
Mirabel regards the spectral chest, attempting to understand what just happened to it. From a magical perspective, of course.

((I will give Peren guidance)) “Peren, rouges are good at finding things, yes?”
I search as well, Investigation:6

Peren will assist Mirabel and will check the brick for regular traps
if there is a trap he will try to disable trap = 23
Then he will ask everyone to backup to a safe distance, if there is any, and use mage hand to remove the brick
((That is correct.))

Peren's mage hand will set the brick down and then the hand will pick up the book and carry it over to Mirabel
((I will cast guidance on Mirabel to help with finding the info needed))
((While we wait on Mirabel to look over the notebook, is there anything else anyone would like to do before you all leave this place?))
((I suppose I will do another once over of the room over while Mirabel is looking at the notebook))
((You're pretty sure this room is tapped out of potential unfound things at this point.))
Mirabel looks at the notebook.
