During these travels he furthered his love of all things technological, which only compounded the issues with his parents, who disliked this eccentricity. He found his true calling when his mother was kidnapped. He aided the city watch, bringing his unique perspective and capabilities to help solve the case and rescue her. He was offered a permanent job as a Watch Investigator and has been in the job ever since.
Once a child with grandiose aspiration of finding his way and absorb great founts of knowledge, Iggrilyth Irdalynnos would one day leave the home of his clan in Neverwinter on a pilgrimage to Candlekeep, determine to make his dream come true. For though the life of a scribe and family historian held its appeal, his appetite was too insatiable to be quenched. Even upon reaching hid destination far to the south, his impatience and stubbornness yet nearly cost him entry. However, one of the scholars either out of amusement or some other hidden agenda never revealed to the dragonborn, stepped in to help smooth things over and took him under her wing. For years he would plume the depths of the keep, happily gorging himself on even the most mundane of knowledge and lessons of his patron. Yet when stymied by rules and regulations that left much yet out of reach, Iggrilyth became restless.
Sensing this, his teacher offered a distraction in the form of an expedition to Anauroch desert on some fact finding mission or other. Frankly, the goal hadn't mattered much to Iggrilyth nearly as much as the region itself, and the various recess of lost lore buried within it. However, it wasn't long into expedition that the team of scholars and guards came under attack by a pair of young blue dragon that took umbridge to their presence and lack of means to meet their demands. In the chaos, he found himself separated from the group, and eventually lost in the wilds of the desert, all but destined to perish given the lack of supplies. Yet by some miracle he stumbled upon a mysterious oasis, as memories tied to it would become somewhat blurred upon departing it years later a changed dragonborn in more ways than one. But from what little can be recalled outside of dreams is having lucked upon the company of some Djinni who found a kind of enlightenment discovery centuries ago, and offered to teach Iggrilyth to do the same. He'd also remembered being skeptical, but out of curiosity and hope of someday returning to candlekeep with his findings, he studied the natural world under the Djinni's guidance, becoming in tune with it, and in time awakened to a power beyond that. He may have stayed in the oasis, were it not for a vision that compelled the by then more even tempered dragonborn to use what he'd learn to return to the west, and find others that would aid in quelling what he took to be a coming catastrophe.
